JRPG's for a beginner?

So guys, I downloaded Chrono Trigger last night (and it just went on sale, FML). And I still plan on getting P4G (physical), even though it just went on sale as well.

Are there other games I should look into getting from the PSN sale going on right now? Muramasa looks interesting to me (holy shit that art).

Also, is there anything I can do to get Sony to reimburse me a bit now that Chrono Trigger went on sale? I literally bought it late last night. Thanks

Muramasa is more a Metroidvania with RPG elements. I'd say it's worth playing.

I really think Persona 4 would be an awful choice for you OP.
Its very tropey, and its about as anime as you're gonna get. You're even a high schooler and more than half of the game is either spent playing a dating sim and/or high schooler sim. Its also long and doesn't follow the normal conventions of the JRPG genre.

I think the fans of the series are getting a little ahead of themselves here. You'll probably want to 'work up' to that one.

My suggestion would be to snag some of the PSN classics on the store like FFVII (Its probably the best choice ever for a beginner RPG.) The FFX HD remaster wouldn't be bad either.

I'd say Chrono Trigger, any Final Fantasy, Kingdom Hearts, Jeanne d'Arc (for a Tactics-type JRPG) and pretty much any Dragon Quest would probably be your best bets for a first JRPG.
