One, why do people continue to try and make Kennedy look like a victim in this whole ordeal? Sure there may be different rules for him and some of their main event stars... but they are main event stars already.

Two, I'm sure there is a reason to Umaga's reason just because it hasn't been made public doesn't mean it doesn't exist.
It's probably to go do with some wellness policy, but we don't know because there's been no reports listed to why. Like Kennedy, the timing is just extremely odd and doesn't look good for them.

But doesn't the newest WWE policy require them to say a worker was released/suspended due to wellness? I'm sure i read about that coming into effect at some point. Maybe it is only for suspsensions.

Thank fucking god. I can't think of any angle she was involved in that wasn't awful. I'm sure Eddie appreciates her honoring his memory by making out with Edge and Big Show on TV.
Dude, Eddie made out with Chyna :P

I think they give too much power to title contenders. Money in the bank winner gets a shot anytime anywhere? So he could bring a ref to the guy's house and pin him in the middle of the night if he wanted to? Dumb. Also, former champ gets an automatic rematch? I've never heard of that. And why should the Royal Rumble winner get to pick which title he wants?

Also, what happened to HBK?

Hardcore title says hi

Also you've been living under a rock if you've never herd of the former champion having an automatic rematch clause. That's been there for as long as I can remember.

Taz and Angle left to "take some time off" too, but Angle went directly to TNA and by reports, Taz is going there too (rumor).

Umaga being released without reason is just odd.

Correction...Taz is already signed. He just can't appear on TV yet due to his announcer "no on air compete" clause from his contract expiring. This is different from a wrestler's contract expiring...they are free to work anywhere immediately.

There's rumors floating around that it was a mutual decision or an attitude altercation. Something doesn't sound right though.

There's also rumblings that McMahon has been going a little crazy backstage lately. Getting angry and irritated for no reason, changing his mind at the last minute, etc, etc.

Er that was the point of the Money in the Bank, and its a one use thing so of course you should have power.

And I have never heard of a ex-champion not having an automatic rematch clause (even if it isn't right away)

These are old wrestling things, why the complaints now?

As if any "rules" matter in pro wrestling. It's all up to whatever the writers/bookers want to happen. Wrasslin' and logic don't go hand in hand.

Looks like we will get WWE Lite again

As Michael reported earlier, the WWE creative team has already been given a list of wrestlers not to write ideas for as they will be unavailable for the foreseeable future, starting with next Monday's three-hour episode of Raw. Dave Meltzer said in today's Wrestling Observer Radio show that the company will indeed be suspending some main roster talent within the next few days. Drug testing took place at shows over the weekend, in addition to yesterday's Raw.

Further confirming that some suspensions will be taking place is that it is standard company protocol for head officials to inform creative that certain performers will not be available for the foreseeable future. This fact was publicly disclosed by World Wrestling Entertainment
in Henry Waxman's report concerning steroids in professional wrestling released this past January.

Although, there is a lot of skepticism among many in WWE these days in regards to how the company is handling drug test violations. Since the fall of 2007, the official policy on drug test failures has been to publicly announce all failures no matter what, but internally, some believe the company isn't completely abiding by its own set of rules.

For instance, of the four confirmed developmental releases within the past two days (Lupe Viscara, Jon Cutler, Dakota "Maverick" Darsow and Kafu), two were reportedly let go as a result of drug test failures. It is rather peculiar that WWE officials opted against publicly outing the violators when it is company policy to do so.

Early last year, WWE announced the suspensions of developmental wrestlers Derrick Neikirk and Neil "Chet the Jet" Bzibziak, releasing them shortly thereafter. In this new case, the company appears to be circumventing its own set of rules by quietly releasing talent so more unwanted negative attention isn't drawn to WWE concerning drug use amongst its wrestlers — especially due to little known minor league talent when the company is adamantly trying to clean up its image. Had they not terminated the violators in question, they would have had no choice but to publicly announce their respective suspensions, hence the quiet releases, which apparently is WWE's new way of getting around the policy.

On man, the new talent on hand for this one
It was announced at the WWE Smackdown tapings that there will be a four-way match on Monday's Raw to determine the new WWE Champion. The match will feature Triple H
vs. John Cena vs. Randy Orton vs. Big Show.

Bowser said:
...so is this a title match?

edit: guess not. Fatal Fourway/Battle Royal next week on Raw for the title?
Called it. Randy Orton will win and we'll get another boreton fued with Triple H.

PWInsider.com reports that people in the company feel RAW is “boring” is right now, but since Vince is directing creative, nobody says anything. The feeling is that even if you suggest something minor that is logical and would improve the show, you could get chewed out by the boss for it.

Vince really is Al Davis'ing Raw....

So I like that they're bringing Hurricane back. And I can't believe I didn't figure out what they were doing with it when he was drafted. Mild mannered ECW reporter Gregory Helms by day, the Hurricane! by night!

Whatsupwitdat?!

Well just read the Smackdown spoilers

Punk doesn't end the show knocked out or made to look weak so already far superior to his Raw run.
Punk seems to be working as a face, but Hardy doesn't like it so he could eventually turn
Edge is working as a heel

So Edge had sunglasses on Monday he's a face now as he had them always in his face run I suppose...in WWE it's the little things lol.

Smackdown is awesome.

WWE Smackdown:
* Smackdown opened with World champ CM Punk coming out to cut a promo. The crowd was into him until Jeff Hardy came out.

* World champion CM Punk defeated Chris Jericho.

* Dolph Ziggler defeated The Great Khali via countout.

* Michelle McCool & Layla defeated WWE Womens champion Melina & Eve Torres.

* John Morrison & R-Truth defeated Shelton Benjamin & Charlie Haas.

* Edge defeated Jeff Hardy by DQ when CM Punk got involved. Punk was doing commentary and Edge threw Hardy at him. Punk then responded, causing the DQ.

I like Joey Styles, I don't like his politics but he is good friends with Mick Foley who's a big left wing guy. So I don't think he lets it get in the way of his relationships in real life, which means he isn't a "right-wing nut", he's just a rebuplican. There is a difference.

there's a difference?:lol

just kidding.

As a conservative, the things he's saying aren't Republican. Maybe you can say they're Republican for 2009, which is why I don't associate with the party and why they're going down the shitter. Styles really is a right-wing loony, and Cornette fucking nails him to it.

-Rey Mysterio was not at the TV tapings. At Raw, there was word going around among the wrestlers that he gave notice, but we can’t confirm that story. Mysterio is still on the lineups for the weekend house shows.

-RVD on Live Audio Wrestling this past weekend said TNA has called him to come in as recently as this past weekend and WWE calls every few months. He said he doesn’t have the passion for wrestling as it was beat out of him when he was in WWE and that wrestling is a tough job if you don’t love it. He said he’s got a four-picture deal with Grindstone, a subsidiary of New Line, and noted working with Batista (who he was shocked WWE allowed to do the movie) and Nelson Frazier (Big Daddy V) and RVD had the lead in the movie “The Wrong Side of Town.” He said it’ll be released on DVD. He said he got burned out on wrestling when Vince told him that he didn’t want ECW to be like the old ECW, and when RVD brought up how years later fans chant “ECW” at shows, he said it was because he (Vince) trained fans to chant ECW.

-The update on Undertaker is he’s expected to be off crutches in mid-July. They are saying it would be a photo finish for him to make SummerSlam. An Undertaker vs. Umaga program was supposed to happen for nearly a year (before Umaga's release), but injuries to both men had constantly delayed it.

-People are saying that Vince McMahon has been in "Hyper-Insane" mode lately. It's very tough for the people who work under him. There was another round of drug testing yesterday. Vince and the WWE as a whole have been upset about recent news leaks(Batista's injur, for example) and they're doing everything they can to prevent them. Vince has been very hard to deal with as of late, as he's been making rash decisions like firing Kennedy just for getting on his bad side. It's said that WWE is not a fun place to work nowadays if you're an employee rather than an actual wrestler. For example if, Batista did something that upset Vince, Batista wouldn't get chewed out, but Vince would chew out regular employees for Batista's screw ups. He takes a lot of his frustration out on the announcers, which in turn lead to the departures of Mick Foley and Tazz. He also takes out a lot of his frustrations on his support staff & others backstage. So if you work backstage for WWE right now, it's not very fun. Most people in WWE know that RAW hasn't been good lately, but with Vince driving creative, people are afraid to make suggestions & criticism of the shows in fear of losing their jobs or getting chewed out.

-The reason why Jerry Lawler did most of the talking on RAW (especially during the Batista stuff) was because Vince McMahon quite frankly doesn't really like Michael Cole right now. Cole announces the way he does to try and please Vince, so he doesn't get fired or lose his spot. Vince consistently screams in Cole's ear. Vince had Lawler to call the Batista stuff because he doesn't trust Cole to get the big angles over.

Whoa @ Rey Mysterio possibly leaving WWE.

Edge hasn't been at shows, either...

Not sure what's up on he or Rey...

Edge was on Raw.....
....and works the main event of Smackdown this week.

With all this pressure from Vince, it's a wonder all the talent doesn't just up and leave.
Maybe it's time for the old man to step away. The guy's lost touch and hurts more than he helps.

Striker said:
Biggest reason for Foley leaving, and I'm sure from Taz, too.
Well those two can afford to leave, Foley has been main eventing for a long time and selling his crappy books forever.(And is somehow the TNA champ, not even going to touch that). And Tazz is just an announcer who did no physical work( still don't know how they are going to use him in the TNA). For most of them would probably love to quit but the money is just to good.

If Mysterio leaves he could go on to AAA and make movies for them, I remember Jason Powell on his site report that a while back. Still sucks if he left, though...

Edge is beat up from Extreme rules, as is Jeff Hardy. Probably giving time for him to heal up. (The guys got a fused neck, can't push too hard on your top heel)

Jeff's got a broken finger and bumps and bruises.

As for Rey, calm down the conspiracy theories....

REY MYSTERIO INJURY UPDATE, ECW RATINGS NOTE, THE BASH PPV AND MORE
by Mike Johnson @ 2009-06-10 22:19:56

Since we've been asked about Rey Mysterio not appearing at the Smackdown taping this past Tuesday, I asked around and was told that he had been scheduled to miss the taping due to a lingering knee injury. His absence had been planned prior to the Intercontinental championship loss to Chris Jericho at Extreme Rules and there are plans to continue the Rey vs. Jericho storyline.

How does that work, with the announcers being told what to say by someone else.

Are they just repeating stuff they hear? Isn't it difficult to repeat what's being spoken into an earphone constantly?

I'd imagine it works like commentary for Football or any other sport, with announcers generally ad-libbing but having an earpiece with a producer feeding them talking points/info.

It is difficult, thats why Foley (and presumably Tazz) left.
While in TNA Foley cut a promo talking about how Vince would be shouting down his earpiece "SAY IT DAMNIT! SAY IT!"
It amazes me that Cole still has a job (especially one calling the flagship show) when Vince apparently hates him so much.

I'm new to these wrestling threads.

A few things. I don't really like TNA or WWE that much anymore (never thought TNA was great at any point really), but there's some good stuff here and there and I just watch some highlights here and there. I'd love TNA to get much more popular so WWE get their act together again.

Does anybody think that Samoa Joe looks like a widescreen Rock? And does anybody else find it annoying when String turns up on TNA and yacks on about pointless crap for 15 minutes?

Also, without getting yourself banned, would somebody be able to explain what this old meme about Nicole Bass is that is banned?

Parl said:

Yes. I've watched maybe...8 or so Impacts this year, and i'm sure each one has had an awful Sting promo babbling about "a lack of respect" or some such, I generally fast forward through all the Main Event Mafia bullshit. The day TNA started pushing Sting, Nash & Steiner over guys like AJ, Petey, Sonjay etc, was the day I stopped following.

Umaga release update - violation of WWE Wellness Program
Written: June 11, 2009

As reported on WWE.com on Monday, June 8, 2009, WWE Superstar Umaga (Edward Fatu) has been released from his World Wrestling Entertainment contract. However, consistent with the practice of announcing wellness policy violations, it should be noted that Umaga's termination was due to his second violation of the WWE Wellness Program and his subsequent refusal to attend a rehabilitation facility.

Well I guess that answers that...

Any idea exactly what Umaga was going? My guess would be pain killers. Do they care about pain killers or is it only steroids?

My guess would be painkillers considering how many wrestlers get addicted to them. Would be hilarious if it was steroids though considering what Umaga looks like.

For announcing, it's a mix of everything. Adlibbing, audio through headphones, and scripts. Sometimes you might notice them looking at the scripts during a match if the camera swings that way. I remember in one of the Botchamanias the WCW announce team was very blatantly reading off of the scripts during a moment that was supposed to be shocking and unexpected, made me laugh hard.

Though sometimes there is no explanation.
