I don't see why you would expect that -- this seems like a much more "grounded" space opera while Speed Racer was based on a cartoon and retained that in its film style. Even if you were expecting a different style, I'm not sure if this type of movie would benefit from the eye-popping visuals of Speed Racer.

First you say generic, then you mention three almost unique, vastly different looking movies. Hmm.

Anyway, Speed Racer was nearly unwatchable but they got me back with Cloud Atlas. Hard to say about Jupiter Ascending yet but as always, hopefully it's great.
