One way or another, if the movie re-explores Nublar it shouldn't be an extended stay.. I firmly think the films need to explore new territory, literally and figuratively.

I thought this was a decent fan poster:

I dont see them going this direction for the actual logo, but if they did a series of different dinosaurs for posters it would be cool

so this film comes out in about 16 months. they have no director, no cast, no finished script (i think?) and ilm (or whoever does the cg effects) will be under so much time pressure, that the effects will likely be shit/rushed.

is there any chance this film could end up decent or even good?

Where is "new" though? I sure as hell don't want another San Diego. I hope we see Isla Sorna/Nublar and see more of the dark side of genetic engineering.

Just because these things have not been announced does not mean they do not exist. I imagine a director is attached already and its likely casting has begun, and possibly finished. Also, I am sure pre-production art has already been started.

Agreed on not wanting to see another dinosaurs in the big city type of setting. I wouldn't mind something fresh, like Africa though.. Or hell, locations like Iceland would be fantastic.

I feel like Jurassic Park worked because it was almost like stepping back 65 million years. If they go to Africa or Iceland it have the same feeling of isolation that worked so well in the first movie.

I agree about isolation being important.. No matter where they film they need to capture the feeling of an isolated, wild, beautiful and prehistoric world. Its also worth noting that where they film doesn't necessarily tie the movie to that location fictionally.

Ultimately, I think JP4 does need a fresh locale.

Iceland has a very beautiful and prehistoric look:

As does Africa:

Unfortunately there was no grass when dinosaurs were about, it actually came about after they were gone. I do agree though that those locations look fantastic.

Walking With Dinosaurs on the BBC got the locations spot-on... you should watch some episodes of that if you want to see a really good setting for dinosaurs. The CGI looks a little dated now (and ofc, no feathers), but it's probably one of my favourite TV series ever.

Yeah, that is true, I suppose I meant prehistoric in more of a wild and untouched by man sort of way. Besides, the JP films haven't went 1:1 when creating an environment for the dinosaurs to live in, so modern species of flora and fauna could still be present. Also, I <3 WWD.. I just started re-watching it yesterday on Netflix. I would love for them to do another WWD series of the same size today.

But yeah, I feel Africa, Iceland, Siberia, etc would all make interesting, fresh and fitting locales for a JP film. The series needs to recapture the wonder, and what a better way than to bring in a fresh and beautiful setting. Also, I feel the colder, more tundra like locations could channel a feeling like this:

Which in turn still bares some resemblance to Isla Sorna.

The second movie said that Isla Sorna had four neighboring islands and I think it was implied that they had dinosaurs on them too. Maybe the setting for the fourth film could be one of those.

Universal Talks about toys for movies- briefly mentions JP4.

He said that in addition to "Despicable Me 2," other forthcoming films — including its May 24 release "Fast and Furious 6" and a "Jurassic Park" sequel slated for June 13, 2014 — will get product pushes of varying size and scope. The car-centric "Fast and Furious" sequel will include a Hot Wheels set from Mattel Inc.

"We now have the properties that demand aggressive, serious attention to satisfy consumer interest and we are ready, willing and able to do that," Fogelson said.

Its been slow news for JP4, so at least they are still talking about it.

Third Africa shot (giraffe silhouettes) is a PS3 screenshot, funny because I was just posting about that game. Good pictures, though. Iceland looks great.

I really think JP4 should return to Nublar though. Would love to see the park structures ruined and crumbling.

If there's. way to achieve it naturally, reuniting Alan Grant and Ian Malcolm is a must. They're the main reason that the original works well when the dinosaurs are off screen.
As long as Joe Johnston stays away I'm happy though.

I always wanted that Carnotaurus, never got it. I have to make do with my young T.rex that has long since lost both its dino damage flesh cover and both of its arms somehow.

He's my favorite non prototype/unreleased JP toy I own. =)

If Hasbro does JP4 we may get a new one from the new toys they canceled in 2010:

Word is they dropped the license though.

Lord no... I mean, Iron Man was great, but I still don't have faith in him.

Iron Man was fucking amazing, but yeah, I agree. However, with the Rise of the Apes screenwriters on board I have more faith in a solid film. At this point I would take the rumor with a grain of salt, but Im gonna dig around.

The white whale!

Oh man, I wanted this soooo much as a kid; I would go through the toy catalog and just stare at it forever, imagining myself playing with it but I never saw it in the stores around my area. Then, one time when we were traveling back from up north, we stopped to get some food and we went into the Toys R Us to look at stuff and there it was... just sitting on the shelf, the last one there, staring right back at me. I asked, pleaded, and begged my mom to let me get it, she said, "Not right now. You can get it when we're back home."

I never saw it in stores again.
