Jurassic World Official Trailer

Wait, so is this water shallow or not? It looks shallow from the establishing shot, but when the mosasaur jumps out of the water it must be super deep.

This is the t-rex paddock all over again!

I think it's supposed to be super clear? So you can see very far down? Makes no sense to me either. Or maybe the dino is not as big as it seems, whale sized.

I'm sort of neutral on this movie right now, not sure how to feel.

I will say that I'm worried about the modified hybrid rex. When the Spinosaurus was introduced, everyone saw it for what it was: A lame side effect of sequelitis. The bad guy has to be bigger and badder than ever to make up for the lack of good writing. And just to prove it, here it is snapping a trex's neck with ease! What a wuss!

Except that the Trex is not a wuss and was the biggest baddie of the entire original movie. To do such a thing seems to actually cheapen the first movie.

While this does fit in with the motives of Henry Wu in the book, it still doesn't strike me as very respectful of the T-rex "character" established in the original. That tyrant "ruled the Earth" and now he is old news? That just doesn't feel right. Feels like another Spinosaurus.

And if one of the themes of the original was that nature cant be contained, tame raptors seems like a very opposing idea. Here's hoping that they are not as tame as they seem.

Trailer already lost me when they started with some annoying kids. I hate children in movies, keep them out of them :/

So they are just letting this giant dinosaur swim around in the ocean and fuck up the natural ecosystem? That seems pretty irresponsible.

I liked Jurassic Park because it took itself seriously even though it was a park about dinosaurs. Then Jurassic Park Lost World had kicking raptors in the head in order to crack a joke about being cut from the gymnastics team and Jurassic Park 3's raptor flute, hysterical parents and general stupidity. This trailer is a tiny step in the right direction, but with that dialog and raptor motorcycle scene i'm leaning towards mostly stupid.

I dont have problem with the trained raptors.

Raptors are smart, and smart animals can be trained to some degree if you raise them from birth with that goal. If tigers can be "tame" I'm sure raptors can.

I don't disagree with the idea behind it, or the "feasibility" per se. My issue comes from the fact the original movie's theme was that man cannot bend nature to do his bidding.

Which, well, apparently Pratt doesn't agree with.

I'm really not liking the mutant dino shit for sure, but I'm stuck between thinking the trained raptor shit is stupidly awesome or just plain stupid.

The shot with the flair looks so familiar. Something 80s, something sci fi.

Maybe I'm combining the old 1984 Apple commercial with Aliens or something, but it looked really familiar.

Also, got shivers when he said "we need to evacuate the island" just because I mean, it's fucking Jurassic Park...

So many horror movie cliches in one trailer. All it was missing was a minority and a virgin.

Movie's got you covered:

Normally I'd agree with you, but I think kids kind of work in JP movies. They help give you that sense of awe and wonder that most adults don't really convey usually. So I'm all for children in Jurassic Park movies as long as they aren't gymnasts.

The movie is for Children. Not to say they can't make Children movies that adults can enjoy, but that shit is secondary here. By a lot.

I know what I'm getting into when I go see it, so it's not even a problem.

That's because they're ripped it straight from the first JP film.

From what I understand of the movie-it's plot is going to reflect a lot of whats going on in this thread. Jurassic Park/World has opened and there real living breathing dinosaurs there! Amazing! But...people have become bored and jaded and don't appreciate the fact that something incredible and fun was made. Hence, that's why BDH makes those hybrids in an attempt to get interest from the jaded.

The world they built feels so fake and CG that I find it hard to connect to it at all. I rewatched Jurassic Park's trailer and just by making so much of the world tangible helped to really capture my imagination.

Also, not to take movie character thought processes too far but creating sea dinosaurs that modern battleships couldn't take down and then going on to create some super dino and be like "oh, it climbed a wall huh" is just a level of "ARE YOU FUCKING STUPID" I can't get on board with. Is it a sequel and not a reboot, as in Jurassic Park happened and everyone didn't learn JACK SHIT?
Jurassic World has been operating fine for 10 years when the movie starts.
Its when they start screwing around with stuff and playing God again that bad shit happens again.

Bunch of negative Nancys in this thread.

Only worry I got from the trailer was that Judy Greer won't do anything besides drop her kid off at the airport.

I'd rather that the kids not be miniature adults who collect T-Rex urine :P

Gymnasts is a damn close second though

I find it funny that people are complaining about genetically modified dinosaurs. Of course it's stupid. That's the point. It's a criticism of audiences (implicitly film audiences as well, not just theme park audiences) for constantly wanting bigger and more even if it doesn't make any sense. People don't want to think about things anymore, they just want Exciting New Experiences (tm)!

Why would you even make a hybrid? People want to come and see dinosaurs, not some fake shit you invented.

Not feeling it, but still obviously a must see on a big screen. I just wish they had IMAX near me - South of London there is basically nothing until almost the South coast. This might need IMAX

You give people too much credit.

That's ironic, since I'd rather have a much more subdued plot that What The Fuck Have We Wrought? plot which has been overdone since the dawn of time :(

I was really down when the science proved you couldn't bring dinosaurs back. So I say fuck it..go all out it don't matter anymore. They have feathers for Christ sake.

We don't know right now ; theories range from the 'it wasn't exciting anymore' to 'they want to use it as a weapon". I think the second one makes sense.

I think they want Chris Pratt to tame it.

Well of course, to us obviously :P

In the film, visitors have just been seeing the same stuff for the last decade, it's understandable to want to create the next wild thing to attract people again. Theme parks do this all the time.

So true. Heck, even in real life we have stuff like that with those "freak shows" on theme parks, carnivals, etc. Looking forward how it can develop something like that into the plot of JW.

They work as side characters or as characters that need help, but starting off the trailer with those two (including the too-cool-for-school kid with his hoody) gives me a bad feeling.

The movie is for Children. Not to say they can't make Children movies that adults can enjoy, but that shit is secondary here. By a lot.

I want to disagree with you here but sadly you are right. The exact same thing will happen to me again though once the Star Wars trailer is out. Cause that movie will be even more for children.

Are you serious? People are fucking stupid.
