Jurassic World Official Trailer

Having a trained T-Rex fighting off against a D-Rex seems like Jurassic World going against so many elements of the first movie. It neuters the danger of the animals and one of the themes in the original movie, mainly that of nature being dangerous as fuck and better left off alone.

I'm not happy about the raptors either as previous movies made them out to be the scariest motherfuckers in the park. I don't like it for the same reasons I don't like Terminators being trained not to kill either.

Actually, there were talks about this kind of genetic engineering back in the 70s I believe. That's where the original idea of the book came from. Sure, they were thinking big, but this was actually something they thought MIGHT be possible in the future back then.
JP was also written with the intention of being a Hollywood spectacle and some of the scenes in the book would feel out of place in Spielberg's film. JW seems more like Crichton's sci fi from what little we know.

That Motorcycle scene at the end...

Your screen writers were so preoccupied with whether or not they could that they didn't stop to think if they should.

Those Velociraptors....

They aren't the same killers from the first movie :/

Why on Earth are they running with Pratt?

In the leaks they also
backed off when Pratt put his hands up.

And the rest of us got one of the best action movies ever in T2, so...

A thing done well is a thing done well. Who knows if this will be done well, but your example just shows that you can take the unstoppable villain and make it the hero successfully.

VFX artist from reddit

It has less to do with the fact that the film is so far out from completion, and more to do with the fact that the trailer comes off as incredibly underwhelming.

It's one thing to edit in lighting/smoke/particle effects for a scene. It's quite another to have the big reveal of the title (and the park) 15 seconds into the trailer look like a bad logo superimposed onto a sign. Even with the caveat that this is unfinished and will be subject to change later (as well as being a two-second shot), it's pretty damn hard to believe that no one on the VFX/production team (including the director, who directly mentioned this) could be bothered to put a bit more effort into it.

And that's symptomatic of the larger problem with the trailer. A lot of it just seems to feel... off. I agree with the people earlier who said it looks like this was rushed out the door in order to get some hype before the Star Wars trailer debut.

Are you people seriously arguing theoretical domestication in a setting where genetic engineering exists to the level that allows the recreation of dinosaurs and even gene-splicing for hybrid killer dinos? Really? Lol.

Yeah, you're right. Fair point hopefully it's used well.

It worked out fine in T2 because a major element in the movie was how dangerous humans themselves were. There's a reason why Sarah trying to kill Miles was framed the way it was, or the SWAT team breaking into Cyberdyne. Part of the film was that we were just as capable of murder and a general lack of mercy as Skynet was.

However it also led to dogshit like Terminator 3 and going forwards. I mean we have a 'Pops' Terminator now.

Maybe they're running from something. Just a hunch.

As someone said earlier I think they're being used as blood hounds, Pratt gives them a whiff of a leaf or something with the hybrids blood on it. Then "unleashes the hounds" so to speak to let them track it. He's following them as they're tracking it down.

It could be the pack caught the scent of something and he's riding with them to see what it is rather then him leading them somewhere.

Would murderous killing machines behave that way though, with fresh meat riding right next to them?

These are the same Raptors that were on the island from the first movie, right?

I never thought they would be able to domesticate fucking Velociraptors lol

If they are going to go with trained dinos, I wish they would have just stuck with the Talking SWAT raptors Idea from years ago. Turn it into a buddy cop movie. Shit would have been hilarious.

This is gonna be epic.

So, this is the Diabolus rex, right?

Cuz they're trained.

Same Raptors from the first film? Didn't they get killed?

Why did the special effects look better in 1993?

They used actual props and animatronics along with CGI back then.

Made everything seem authentic and real.

In this trailer though, fucking EVERYTHING was CG, hence the fakeness overload.

Yea, I'd go with that.

Domesticated Velociraptors, holy shit.

It's blowing my mind right now, in a bad way.

What did they do with all the Raptors and dinos that bred and flourished in between the first movie and this one?

I figure they must have jacked some Velociraptor eggs and domesticated the babies.

This probably means there's a section of the island where the feral/wild dinos are roaming about.

Maybe they had the trained raptors hunt the other raptors down O.o

It will on the premise that it isn't in Australia and the Mad Max isn't fucking Australian. Sure it looks god damn good, but by god they butchered the source material.

The movie world is still set in Australia even though a bunch of it isn't shot there, but to be fair, they wanted to film in Australia but the area they planned to film in got a bunch of rain and no longer had the dead desert look because of the plants growing and stuff. I've really go no problem filming out of location myself as long as the place you choose fits the look. Still, they've had to do reshoots and those are happening in Australia.

As for Mad Max himself, is the character not supposed to be Australian in the movie? I think he's still supposed to be Australian, even if the actor isn't. Too add to that, Mel Gibson isn't technically Australian either, he was born in New York.

I thought the Raptors only bred in the novel, did they do it in the film too? I know the other dinos where starting to. I can't remember, if they did then it's possible they got eggs from the old park where they've been breeding and in that trailer the Raptors looked very JP1ish

Wonder if that means the original Rex is still stomping around in the old park lol, have the clusterfuck with the hybrid dino end up in the old park at the end and the original Rex curb stomping it

Was excited, now concerned. Way too much CG, the lines weren't trailer worthy (no punches packed) and now it looks like it's going to be a slasher film with the one antagonist.
