Smh at all this Pratt hate.

It's bigger than a trex and as smart as a raptor (which in the jp verse are smarter than chimps).

If it knows what to destroy I can easily see the d Rex causing a park wide meltdown.

Oh yeah:

"It's incredibly smart... it will kill anything that moves!"

Wow, smart dino.

Man, reading GAF opinions on pretty much every movie bums me out. Do you guys like anything?

Pretty sure these sucky dinosaur hating plebians liked inception and the dark knight and I'm pretty sure they even liked that great ball of wank where that guy stops the bombs going off and bros it up.

FOR SHAME GAF!

That really goes against the whole theme of Jurassic Park though, which was the idea that Man couldn't control Nature.

You tell that to them after running the park without issue for ten years and millions of visitors. I figure they think they have got things running so smoothly that they forgot the lessons of the first movie. All it takes is one disaster to throw the entire mechanism out of whack. Nedry's hack killed the first park more then anything the animals did.

Smh at all this Pratt hate.

Indeed, what gives?

Everyone loves Pratt for his comedic acting, where he pretends to be a dumb smart ass with charisma. This is the opposite of that, where he pretends to be a plain souless shell who says the most generic dialog possible. Granted, there's still a lot we haven't seen and there could be a comedic angle to his character, but this trailer just doesn't show it and what little of the serious stuff it does show just does not suit him.

I'm gonna love to see how they justify, on a storytelling level, a JP5.

theres another hidden never mentioned or referenced island!

but seriously they can probably make a franchise out of this if they take the basic concept of JP and just make creative decisions. Do something different with the premise while using the same underlying message of the original.

Allthough I am cautiously positive (like the trailer, but the concept of the movie is a risky one to pull off imo), I do agree with people saying the CGI looks off.

Based on what? Three or four reactionary lines of dialogue, without much context? In a short first trailer?

Yeah, let's judge a character based on that!

But man could control it. Everything that went wrong in the first film can be put squarely on Nedry's virus. The animals escaped because of him. The park, while buggy, was running fine, and they had no problems containing the dinosaurs.

That looked... bad. The kids already annoy me and the Disneyfication of Jurrasic Park is really unenjoyable to see, the dialogue was cringy, and having the Raptors fight alongside humans is just so dumb.

The cgi on the water dinosaur was just terrible.

Considering this film is going to be filled to the brim with CGI, I can't say I'm much impressed by it. It really doesn't look that much better than the last movie. It's a silly thing to say, but it looks CG as fuck. :/

But otherwise, the trailer was alright. I was hoping there'd be more boombastic JP theme, but maybe they'll save that for the next trailer.

I love Jurassic Park as much as the next person, but after 2 shitty sequels and this new movie which looks more like a reboot it's hard to get hyped. Looks like they're just going through the motions with this one. But now they have genetically modified dinos! So what?

This is gonna be epic.

So, this is the Diabolus rex, right?
NYCzyEm.gif

Doesn't look like a regular T-rex at least. It also has three fingers instead of two, longer arms, and that odd toe thump. Technically it could still be the adolescent rex from the first novel though. We'll see in seven months.

I'm gonna love to see how they justify, on a storytelling level, a JP5.

Thank god for cinqos muertos

That being said I do like the set design of the new park from what we've seen so far. Part of the fun of the first one for me was seeing the park itself.
I like that this movie feels like the franchise is going back to roots and seems more like a direct sequel to the original than 2 and 3

You DID see the first movie right? This is right in line with Hammond's vision.

Totally agreed. As a kid the first movie inspired my friend and I to spend days designing our own park and how it would operate and avoid pitfalls.

Taking place on a functioning theme park has its JP1 ties, but it also deals with issues that no film has dealt with yet like maintaining an audience, training dinosaurs, and having to up the ante leading up to tampering with genetics. It will feature people running from dinosaurs as is expected, but will also feature dinosaurs vs dinosaurs in a way that's actually significant. Conceptually I feel like this film has a lot of potential. I don't mind that it goes into campy territory. The film doesn't have to match the same tone as the other JPs. I just want the film be well crafted and have memorable characterization. And have cool dinosaurs.

The dinosaurs were breeding, which wasn't part of the plan. Nedry's virus simply sped things up. Plus, wasn't there some sort of hurricane that was heading towards the island? Even without Nedry, a hurricane could've knocked out power to the fences all by itself. And the dinosaurs ended up surviving the lysine contingency at the end of the book by feeding on lysine rich crops.

The Park was a ticking timebomb. If it hadn't been Nedry, it would've been something else.

Much of GAF just enjoys hating things. It brings them more pleasure than liking things. And having people like the things that they hate? Well, they can't have that, so they have to be EXTREMELY vocal about how much they hate the things they hate.

Personally, I like liking things and don't like hating things, but I feel like I'm the only one around here like that.

Chris Pratt comes across like he's acting in some sort of Adult Swim action movie parody

Not gonna lie that gave me Jaws 3 vibes minus Louis Gossett Jr.

Bryce Dallas Howard though

So other than that one thing that they couldn't control (human selfishness), they could control everything?

Isn't that basically admitting that they couldn't control nature... and themselves?

It absolutely is, it's just unenjoyable to see for some reason, it's not a major negative compared to other things though.

The plot is also the same as the first film, but instead of "You tried to play God and made dinosaurs" it's "You tried to play God and made Super dinosaurs!"

Seriously, how can anyone watch that trailer and be excited about Pratt? Those fucking lines are horrible and his delivery isn't helping either.

It's shit you would hear in a Syfy movie.

Looks bad. The whole point of JP was that men cannot tame nature. Especially not 65 million year old beasts.

And then you have cool guy pratt playing a raptor wrangler. Smh.
