Jurassic World Official Trailer

Don't know why people are so down on the raptor whisperer (well, actually, I do. It looks terrible). But Jurassic Park 3 also had a terrible moment when the humans and raptor have a heart to heart once their eggs get back.

So this isn't exactly out of the norm in terms of terribality.

Who wants to see some boring herbivore eating bushes or something? People like excitement and thrills. Why do people see alligator wrestling or go in shark cages? Or enjoy going on the coasters with the biggest drops?

A new never-before-seen dinosaur! Bigger than the Trex! Deadlier than the Velicoraptor! You thought you saw everything Jurassic World had to offer, but you've never seen a dinosaur like this!

Because most humans would be super psyched to just SEE a dinosaur? I dont' think there's a requirement that it be a killer before we bother getting out of bed in the morning.

I'm just saying from a plot perspective, it has trouble written all over it, especially when the folk in this movie are aware of bad history with this situation in the past.

I'm rewatching Jurassic Park now and I don't know how people can say this movie isn't in the spirit or theme of the franchise when it's literally the frutation of what Hammond and co always envisioned the park to be

- A park catered to everyone, not just the super rich
- Target audience is kids
- "More adventurous guests can opt for our jungle river cruise or for a close up look at our majestic winged dinosaurs"
- Basic tour + "other rides will come on-line six or twelve months after that" with "spectacular designs"

Jurassic World is everything that Hammond had wanted the park to be. If that's not a true faithful sequel to Jurassic Park, I don't know what it is.

And ironically, they're finally going beyond Ian's claim of "standing on the shoulders of giants" by venturing into uncharted territory and making a new creature.

I'm mostly with you. I always wanted to see the park open up to the public. Now we have that. I'm excited. Just hope it doesn't turn into a traditional dumb summer blockbuster flick.

More Dawn of the Planet of the Apes and less Marvel, essentially.

Worse effects than a 20 year old movie.
Dino-Human hybrid.
I was hoping we would be going back to Jurassic Park, but this looks as dumb as 3.

EDIT: My bad, got the human hybrid bit from an old rumor. Sorry everybody.

The whole point is that people have seen dinosaurs. They've seen the same dinosaurs for 10 years.

So what was the impetus with naming the film Jurassic "World"?

Is this going to a Planet of the Apes type thing where the new generation of dinosaurs eventually threaten all of mankind?

Erm no, I believe it's because the park in the film is called Jurassic World. Which is a reference to real life theme parks like Sea World and Disney World. But I like your idea.

Why are people down on trained raptors? They were intelligent as hell in the previous films, creatures that could definitely be trained. I think it's cool.

That shot is a placeholder specifically made for the trailer, it's been said countless times in this thread. Gate in the movie is practical.

Now if you had picked the water dino scene, I would agree the CG is shoddy there. Worse than 20 years ago, though? No, hyperbole.

How? I must be blind or something. One out-of-context shot, mainly in the realm of realism, with a mix of practical (Pratt is actually on a bike) and CGI? Vs CGI Shia swinging through the threes with CGI monkeys, throwing physics and logic out the window? You know, maybe if Pratt was actually riding the raptor like a horse, yeah I'd agree with you.

We don't know that yet, maybe he will ;)

My problem with the genetically modified dinosaur is, you've already had multiple disasters with regular dinos, so why would you want to make dinosaurs that are even worse?

Seems like it rehashes the same "corporate greed leads to stupid decisions" and "just because you can doesn't mean you should" themes from the first movie.

True, but they're trying to promote the movie. And with this trailer, they're promoting it as a dumb summer action movie which will most likely be filled with these dumb one liners.

I know it just sounds like I'm hating, but I love Jurrasic Park and I enjoy Pratt in Parks and Rec.

I just want this movie to be good.

Bryce Dallas Howard is shaping up to be the real kiss of death for action blockbusters: Spider-man 3, Terminator 4, and now JP4. But I'll probably still have fun

I don't think themes are really things that one calls out as "rehash". Themes should be consistent and be carried out through various iterations because they are the foundation of the franchise. The Lost World backed the themes, Jurassic Park 3 did not (and was shit, though not necessarily because they abandoned the themes).

Oh, they do. And they don't care. In the book, Hammond was the only one reigning them in and keeping them from making new dinosaurs.

Didn't they already modify a dinosaur by making frilled and poisonous? They're just taking the next logical step

And in the movie, they described JP as a "major zoo and a major theme park" with rides. It was always envisioned to be more than just a zoo or preserve

I don't think the plan was ever to slap a pink tutu on a t-rex and make it ride a unicycle. The shamu-esque Mosasaurus and trained Raptors comes off as a tacky circus side show. Again it could be an interesting dynamic to explore going against Hammond's wishes.

Was the Dilophosaurus actually referred to as hybrid? I always thought it was Hollywood's creative license/misinformation about the dinosaur.

if its the one on the far right that would be cool

the secret to enjoying this movie would be to ignore that it has anything to do with the jurassic park name

You know what? I'm not even going to try anymore
Saying how one should enjoy a movie based on one short trailer and ignoring how it ties into the ideas and plans of the original makes so much sense

That concept art was from the script from years ago. The Hybrid in world is nothing more than an oversized Tyrannosaurus with Raptor and other features

None of those are what the D-Rex will look like. Lego leaked the design out, it's not too hard to find on Google.
