Here's something I do: honey with your cereal. You can still put a small amount of milk, but dry cereal with a tablespoon of honey, all mixed together, is like eating a chewy, awesome flapjack (depending on cereals/what you mix in with your cereal).
Yes, you should MIX cereals (why restrict yourself to one flavour?), adding stuff like figs/fudge/glace cherries, etc., according to taste. You know, anything that would be lethal to a diabetic. I probably crave the sugar because I do a lot of exercise, but I have always LOVED cereal (breakfast is my favourite meal of the day).
I'm not advocating eating this kind of thing more than once per day, but as part of a balanced diet this is better for you than the alternative of sweets/flapjacks/pastries. And honey is GREAT for you.
No, I do not work for a honey manufacturing company, nor am I a spy planted to infiltrate humankind by evil bee overlords. There's a reason Egyptians poured this stuff all over themselves, and why you can still eat it from jars sealed thousands of years ago. It's a natural antibiotic and will make you more attractive to the opposite sex (okay, maybe that last part is an exaggeration).
