yeah just had it done (with silver nitrate) the guy doing it was shit he wouldn't answer my questions at all so im gonna ask here. he did both nostrils ( i wasn't keen on this cos i cannot breath properly)

so yea here goes.

how long do i need to keep the scabs there for, it looks really horrible and its like touching the edge of my nose, i work in a retail shop and its quite horrible with this.

can i blow my nose that much, i keep sneezing alot and just have a runny nose is this normal.

i got some special cream to use contains peanut oil (very random lol ) whats the best way to apply this ?

Maybe explain what it is?

Also I can't believe your doctor did not even tell you how to use the medicine, and you need gaf to tell you. wtf.....

I used to just put a little cream on my pinkie put it up my nose and squeeze the nostrils together.

they dab with a stick silver nitrate on your blood vessels in your nose to stop it from bleeding, i suffer from extreme nose bleeds and he basically said they were really bad.

i had it done at a hospital

I was about to post an asinine response, but that's because I read it as castrated.

for what it's worth, google says nothing. I'd call the doc.

I had this done last winter. I used to get chronic nose bleeds because the blood vessels in my nose where to close to the surface of the skin.

Anyways they just swab you with this chemical real quick, it burns a bit and thats about it.

I would say avoid agitating it and just heal normally. Try not to blow too hard, keep some tissues with you. Gently blow and dab whatever needs to come out.

Your suppose to keep it hydrated with Ayr Saline Nasal Gel. Just swab a bit around, don't over do it either.

unless that peanut oil stuff was recommended by your doctor I wouldn't use it. Definately go Ayr.

well i guess use it then. Did you have this done for nosebleed or something as well?

See I had something similar happen. I was going to a doctor to learn about the procedure and find out about what it entailed. He pretty much said, "I can do it now". He quickly got out the stuff, burned my nostrils with the chemicals without telling me what to expect. At least he properly sent me on my way.

sufferd nose bleeds since im 6 now 22. he basically said the left side is really bad booked me for another visit cos he might have to do it again to that side. when he did that said it made my eyes water i guess they were just they swollen

I had that done when I was younger...I don't remember much about it, but I don't think blowing your nose for a few days is wise. The scab should be around for a week.

never seen movies where someone's bleeding and someone else says "we have to cauterize the wound," then they take gun powder, dump it on the wound and light that shit on fire?

So someone started working on you after not answering your questions? Why did you let them start?

it's their job. they've done it so much they just stopped giving a fuck

well it's not a wound, but my nose bleed like an anime character.

its a simple fix to an annoying problem

so yeah 2 days after the cauterization my nose is really scabby but my nose is also bleeding now and then

Yeah, seems normal. Just keep letting in heal and try not to bother it. Mine was annoying for a week or two. Even worse I was on accutane at the same time so my face was completely dry while I was trying to keep my nostrils moist. And it was the winter.

Did it hurt much? I'm probably gonna have this done

It's not comfortable. Its a burning sensation of sorts, but not like a match up your nose. It's weird to explain. Brief discomfort that you want to pull away from is all I can say. Kind of smells like it might be a match though.

My head just hurt reading that sentence.

Yeah, but it's ultimately less painful than a badly placed vaccination.

It's definitely not comfortable, but it's not horrible. Had to do it a few years back when I had severe nose bleeds every day before going to work.

Application instructions for medicine comes with the medicine itself. It is not your doctor's job to tell you how to read.

If you medicine did not come with instructions, your pharmacy is some dodgy shit.

I had my nose cauterized when I was 7, so I don't remember too much. I do know that runny noses are normal for a while and to not blow your nose at all. Just have to wipe for a week or so. =/

Had this 18 years ago, it's suppose to stop your nose bleeding.

Didn't last long. Nose still bleeds

This is one of the reasons I'm ne'er going to get it done. My nosebleeds have lasted over an hour and a half before but they are rather rare and dot happen enough for me to want to get chemicals and stuff put up my nose.

It's really not bad and much to worry about. It had it done once, and the nose bleed has returned since then but it lasted about 3-4 years so I think it was well worth it.

When I first had mine done I used a Q-tip to apply the cream I was prescribed and tried my best not to aggravate the scabs and let it heal on its own. I was told that's the key to not aggravate the scabs.

That was ten years ago mind and I've had them done three more times since, depending n how bad the lining of your nose is sometimes it just doesn't work.

My nose bleeds whenever I eat loads of mangos. Also I used to bust my nose on a regular basis on my skateboard as a kid. Good times.

It's not like you're sticking drugs up your nose. Imagine it being a tooth filling, but for your nose.

I had this done about two weeks ago. Fuck it was painful. Had a growth removed from the inside of my nose. First he gave me shots inside my nose. Then he cut the stuff off. Then cauterized the wound. The whole experience was the most uncomfortable thing ever. No cancer though.

My 12 year old nephew suffers from terrible nosebleeds to the extent where we have been seriously worried about him lately. He has had this done twice because of this over just the last month or two. He started getting very sick, weak, vomiting up blood that has gone to his stomach, and all of that good stuff.

I think he is getting this from me since I have always, and still do to this day, gotten nosebleeds, reasonably easy mainly because of allergies. It has never been so bad for me to have that done though.

Oh, wow. Did this happen before or after he had it done?

I used to get a ton of nosebleeds (6 or 7 every day), then I went to an ENT who found out I had a Deviated Septum. I then had Septoplasty to repair it, and haven't had a nosebleed since.

Before. Like be, he has always been prone to nosebleeds. He had it done the first time a month or two ago and all seemed fine, but whatever they did broke back open and the nosebleeds returned so they did again in a more aggressive way. If it doesn't hold, they say something else more major could be at play.

I *think* he had it done when he was very small also, just a few years old or so.

Fascinating. I had no idea there was such a treatment for nose bleeds. I also had no idea that someone could suffer from chronic nose bleeding. I knew some people suffer from regular nose bleeds but I guess I never thought about how it could be severe. Best of luck.

About 3 years ago I woke up in the middle of the night for the first time because of a nosebleed. It woke me up and it was just everywhere. I looked like a victim in a horror movie. It was all over my face, hands, arms, and all over my white shirt.

Since them it happens now and then but It now wakes me up when it first starts. It last happened to me just the night before last. It sucks.

The best part of nosebleeds is coughing a bunch of it up and spitting it out to freak people out. Sometimes it is all clotted up and looks like you are dying. Good times...

I haven't had mine done but I sympathies with the frustration of dealing with nose bleeds. I have the same problem but so far not bad enough to warrant getting my nose cauterized. My nose just starts randomly bleeding on and off for a few days then it will be months or even years before it happens again.

Sometimes It happens at night and I wake up with blood on my pillow, my upper lip and up my nose. Like I sleep box or something:lol

I think it's hereditary. My Grandmother told me she had the same problem and had her nose cauterized.

Finally got a referral from my doctor to get this done... She checked my nose and confirmed that my blood vessels are awfully close to the surface in my nose, so now I'm going to be going to see an otolaryngologist... hopefully I won't get as many nosebleeds after that...

Bumping because my nose is officially cauterized now, too. The doctor used silver nitrate, just like the OP. Now my nose feels all weird...
