Just had the best customer service from Xbox Support

Yeah, I am usually the one bitching up a storm about everything. My Xbox One disc drvie started having issues. I lived with it until finally it wont read games. So I called support and got like the best guy ever (compared to a person I got in Jan)

Anyway, since it was a day one model I was eligible for a free game which I didn't even ask for. They have an advanced replacement option where they send you a console and you get to keep yours while you wait. They do put a hold on a CC for that option.

The support person in January told me that free game deal was over so either they extended it or whatever. The best part is they added Titanfall on the list of free games. I actually already received my code.

Nice job by MS. I don't even have to live without my console.
 
Free copy of Titanfall! Sweet! Hopefully you get your new Xbox One by the 11th, but it's a download right? That shouldn't affect your disk drive. lol

I only had to deal with the Xbox Support once regarding a 360 Controller and it all went well with a fast answer from them.
 
Wow. I just had the opposite with Sony.

I payed $140 to fix my ylod ps3 back in December. I get it back, and the internet both wired and wireless are broken. I send it in again, get it back and it still doesn't work. I'm sending it in again, this time for a replacement and not the same one. I've yet to play my ps3 online since December......
 
I honestly never had a single problem with MS when it came to issues(red ring). They sent me a replacement asap and i was off the phone very quick.

I should say sony also treated me well when my PS3 stopped reading disks. And pretty much did the exact same thing... Except MS sent the replacement and expected the broken one back after "x" amount of days.... Where as sony sent me an empty box.

Both were fine though
 
Xbox Support is good unless it has to do with canceling your gold subscription.

Yeah, they've been really good when I needed some help on my disc tray. They were super cool and I didn't have to wait long. They even gave me some MS points for some reason after my 360 was shipped back.
 
Never needed to contact Xbox/MS support for anything (never had any issues that needed a call). Hardest thing to do was remove CC details and stop live auto-renewing but by the time I wanted to do that for good it was back to being on the website as an option.

Sony CS was pretty damn shit from the times I had to call them about my account hack.
EA CS can be pretty good too.
 
Glad to hear it's better than in the 360 days.

I'm usually a calm guy but oh boy I had to grit my teeth a couple of times on the phone during last gen.
 
I never had issues when my 360 broke. They were pretty quick and obviously experienced with it. It being free helped a lot too.

What the crap... I have a day one and my blu ray drive went out this week. Went through their online chat for support and was not offered anything. Perhaps I should call..

That's awesome, gotta love when tech support is actually supportive. In a way, you're kind of getting the Titanfall bundle lol
 
my headset died earlier this week. i did the chat support and it took them like 5 min to get me a new one.
 
I've always had good support from Sony for my PS3, its always been a Next day swap at my doorstep, although I am on continuousplay.
But I think it's who get on the phone that makes the difference, the last time I called Sony the guy actually had me in stitches because he joked about all the boring stuff and change the usual agreement thing they read to ya with silly stuff like, we can not accept a PS3 that has been thrown out a window because kept dying in God Of War 3 lol
So yes it depends who you get.

So the way you get the free game is if you provide them with a credit card and they put a hold of 500 on it and ship you out a console right away.. well since I already sent mine in I can not get the free game but he did give me 3 months of gold.

As long as I get it before Titanfall is out (currently says the 12th so cutting it close) I will be ok... He was very pleasant and said thank you many times for being patient with their system and the issues I have had.

Actually it doesnt work, something about an error. Most likely I would think because the game is available yet. I took a print screen of the error. I'm not really worried about it. Sure it will work closer to launch.
 
Have you tried? I have, several times in fact and not once was I successful. I finally just cancelled the CC attached to the account since I got a new card anyway.
Well not cancel your membership..why would you cancel your Xbox live if you have time left on it. But you could turn off auto renewal or remove any payment options on Xbox.com therefore basically canceling it after your membership ends
 
Has to be the day one edition and bought within that time frame. I don't know that I would trust them if it isn't legit broken. They seem to have their act together.

I got a day one edition that has that annoying controller disconnect problem. I wonder if I should finally try and get a new one now that titanfall is being offered.
 
I've always had good experiences with Xbox support. When I bought my 360 I paid for their two year extended warranty. I had two RRODs and they were great both times, and each time I got a free game and a month of XBL. The only hassle was getting credit card info removed from my account when I didn't want gold to auto renew.

Sony was good with my YLOD even though I was out of warranty. I complained about how much it cost to buy versus how long it lasted and they gave me $50 off of a refurbished slim PS3. That was good, because with PS2 their support sucked ass. My launch PS2 had a 90 day warranty and the disc drive died a couple of weeks after the warranty was up. They charged me $149 to fix it. I was sore, but I paid it.

Ah, sorry I didn't really explain that right. I was trying to remove the auto renewal without luck and just let my time run out.
 
There were times where Xbox purposefully took down the ability to do so on their sites when lots of people had their membership expiring at the same time.

That hasn't been true for eons. I was easily able to kill my Gold sub online when I moved to PS4 last November.

So I'm dormant now, but if I ever get another Xbox, it's good to know I'm not getting in league with the devil just to start my sub back up again.

He did mention it was specific to the disk drive issue but I guess it doesnt hurt to check. I think the controller thing would bother me more than a free game.

I had a bad experience with customer support but from Sony. I got banned from PSN for an offensive username (ThunderKak). I lost everything, all my trophies, online progress and all of my PSN purchases. I called and asked what was so offensive about a joke refference to a thunderous poop and they deemed it sexually offensive and no matter how much i begged them I couldn't keep anything and had to start all over with a new account and lost all the games I had purchased for breaching their TOS.

Im glad you had a good experience.
