Spell slots are determined by a combination of character level and their int stat. She doesn't have very good int so she doesn't get a whole ton of slots.

Sell it.

Cool, thanks for the info.

Morale Failure? Why is that happening to Jaheira? She keeps running around aimlessly.
Is it because of the curse? And how do I cure it, just wait around?

Just finished Nalia's family Quest. That was a hard quest. But I have a whole lot of money now. Going to do a little shopping :) . At the moment, I feel like Jaheira and Nalia are useless on my team. The Bounty Hunter is pretty weak, I forgot his name, but you meet him in the starter dungeon. But his thief skills are pretty good.

And Guess what, Jaheira had died in that Quest...and I forgot to pick up her equipment...so I am assuming it's gone now. I was going to head back eventually, but I really don't want to reload. The equipment was ehhh anyway.

1) Adventure Mart is the only place to get magical items? It's seems that's the only place with cool items, but everything is sooo expensive at the moment.

Baldur's Gate? Amn, you mean... Baldur's Gate isn't in BGII. :)
But anyway, most of the equipment you will actually use comes from enemies or quests, not stores.

2) How do you increase spell slots for Mages? Nalia barely has any slots for each level. She becomes useless pretty quickly in battles.

There are Int-boosting items in this game, though, and items that increase how many spells you can cast for certain levels... The only problem is, when you die they drop and those things get un-memorized. Still, very useful items. Nalia's Int in my game is fine, I think... her Wisdom is low, though. I wouldn't really trust her with Wish.

Guess you guys missed this question I had. :)

Rods with Charges- I found a couple of pretty cool rods. But I am about to run out of charges. Is the only way to renew the charges to sell the rod to the store and buy them? Because that's really expensive. (How about sleeping at an Inn? I think I got one of those hot tips when BG 2 is loading regarding inns and restoring charges)

Changing the order of the party. Is there any way I can change the portrait orders on the right so that I have more control over my party's tactical formation. At the moment, I only have one fighter in the front...and one mage in the front (something I don't want)

Thank you. :)

Morale Failure? Cast the spell on your party that prevents that from happening first (before the battle, that is)... er, which one was it... can't quite remember. But there is one.

Rods -- yes, they have charges, and will eventually break. As was said I think that if you can sell it to a store before it breaks, if you buy it back from them it'll be refilled...

Party order -- yes, you can change the party order whenever you want. Do you just drag the portraits on the sidebar or is it in a menu? Either way, it's there.

hmmm, just installed the game myself did the tutorial and i am kind of confused on which class i should play ( as the main character ) is there an equivalent of Diablo 2's necromancer? and do these 'evil lawful' stuff effect the game?

Read the manual! Seriously. Invaluable. (though don't the alignments get explained in the game too? It's self-explanatory... it's your character's internal moral alignment. Lawful to Chaotic (do you follow the law or break it?) and Good to Evil (are your goals good or bad?) are on two different scales, which when combined with neutral makes for nine possibilities. In the BG games, it's much easier to be a Good or Neutral alignment than Evil, but if you really want to you can play as evil... just expect to have a harder time.

Classes? You just need to choose one (or two) based on what you want... D&D is a complex system, so while there are just four base classes (Thief, Mage, Cleric, and Fighter, pretty much), there are a lot of variations on those four basic themes. Each has its own pluses and minuses...I don't know if anything is quite like a Diablo 2 Necromancer, but Mage and Cleric classes or derivatives are definitely what you should look at.

so is playing evil any more fun? i mean in other bioware games ( kotor, jade empire ) i found playing evil as much more fun people's reactions and the quests usually became much more interesting is this the same case here?

well i want to play as a paladin or fighter but i have feeling these classes will turn boring, i want to play something which remains interesting throughout the game.

Well, there is a Necromancer mage class iirc, but if you want to play evil then it shud be fine but keep your rep at a good level otherwise you will be hunted down almost constantly.

Personally, my first class was a Paladin, Undead Hunter, with profiency in dual welding and Katanas (yeah i know, 2-handed swords would have been better for me), it was doing good until he turned into a fallen Paladin at the last bit of BG2 when i used the evil sword on a genie. The sword was great though :)

Aerie has a animate Dead spell. And a Summon level spell (though not sure if I got her this one)...

But they have similiar spells to the Necro in Diablo 2.

Like Slow which was *forgot the name in D2*.
Lower Resist here in BG2.
Spells that remove protections from enemies.
Confuse or take over enemies.
Summon Spells.
Poison spells.

They have various magical shields similar to the bone shield in terms of usage.

If you want to make a necro, you just have to choose certain spells to add to your book.
But they have more than enough spells to make a necro.

Hmph, I should have made something like that. I just got greedy and start adding all the spells to my book. I am trying to make a Wise Mage. :)

Question regarding Jaheira's Curse Quest.

At the moment, she is useless, since she dies instantly from the curse. I met Jansen, so I now I could recruit him. I really want to get her cured but was wondering if I had to have her in party to gather information regarding this quest.

I understand I will ultimately need her in my party, to cure her...but do I Need her in party to find the cure.

Thank you.

Oh and Greater Malison is pretty nifty spell.

evillore why can't I make new threads anymore?

Why are you derailing this thread to ask me an administrative question, instead of at the very least PMing me, or more appropriately sending a support email?

I just discovered that spell triggers are the best thing ever. How I played this game for years without realizing this, I'll never know.

It's best to just do the quest and then get on with the rest of the game. This is a time based one so focus on it. It's not very long either.

Ahh, I had the Quest finished (
Killed Ployer...but didn't know that I had to resurrect her on my own....I dropped her body off at Jansen's place...and realized that I can't get her back into my party if she's dead...and then realized the curse was gone, I just had to use raise dead right after killing Ployer

What exactly is the purpose of strength? I was thinking of buying an item that increases strength?

Where do I get my next warrior? Amonen is a beast, but I need someone else alongside of him. I was looking at a few quests, but I would like to start one where I can recruit a warrior. (My team is mainly Good.)

Things happened between me and Aerie...I just had to say I loved her. :lol
LOL, She's so naive..but powerful, so I am keeping her on my team.

I finally figured out how to use Minute Meteors...OMG that spell is amazing.

Haven't read much of this thread, but did you find the paladin in the sewers? To meet him, you must take the Unseeing Eye Cult quest.

Just started this game, kinda overwhelming at first! PDF game manuals are the devil!

I made a human Kensai. I kinda don't want to be bothered with spells, but I've quickly found that they can't be avoided.

Is this a game with repercussions and many different pathways regarding the main plot?

Reason why I ask and without any spoilers please...

I was casting spells in the main town and a wizard came out of nowhere and gave me a warning...

My first thought...oh shit.

Now this is what I hope...If I cast Magic again...I will be taken to prison. And I have entered the Wizard's fortress which Is what I wanted in the first place. Due to casting magic again...I am opened to different side quests and maybe even more Companions. Maybe I won't even have to pay the $20,000 if I am strong enough to defeat the wizards and save Imonen.

Due to this I miss on on other quests.

I like having many options which change the main plot of the game. Like maybe I decide to join the Shadow Guild instead of joining another Guild to help me defeat that guy who trapped me in that start of the game...

I like to feel like my actions and choices really affect the outcome of the game....so I am indeed a little hesitant about casting magic...or even not hurrying up and completing the quest, which my newly acquired thief deemed very urgent in terms of time.

Am I hoping for too much? :)

Baldur's Gate is probably the most outcome-change:able game ever made :)
You could play it 10 times over and it wouldn't be the same once. The main story is the same, of course, but the millions of side-quests and characters make it a different game every time. Also you've probably already noticed how conversations are really complex.
