Just started Batman Arkham Knight, how much Batmobile?

I actually liked the Batmobile in Arkham Knight. I thought it was a cool way to get around as well as having responsive controls during combat and driving. The platforming sections for me were a nice change of pace, I thought most of them were fun puzzles. The only times it got frustrating for me is when the story shoved you infront of hordes of vehicles. where the fights really drag on. This is especially the case towards the end of the game where the tank battles are quite overdrawn. But overall, I thought the batmobile was a welcomed edition. I think you should just play it and see how you feel.

P.S. If you found the riddler challenges frustrating, it's coz you sucked at them. You can't make em too easy ;)

To be fair the only reason the game gets a bad rap is due to the batmobile, but that's because everybody (I'm included in this) went into it just wanted a sexy, current gen version of Arkham Asylum/city.

But instead, we got a lot of.... filler. And that's what the game felt like. You enjoyed 10 of these things before? Here's 50. You enjoyed side missions? Here's even more than before. But the story? Let's keep it short.

I think that if you liken the Batmobile to another one of Batman's gadgets (e.g. batarangs, explosive gel, line launcher, etc), then you'd realize that it's implemented into the game in the same way as them. For every gadget, there are parts in the game that require you to figure out how to use it in order to progress.

I actually really like the tank sections, as well as the Riddler's race tracks. I never found the Batmobile to be overused, because apart from the parts in the game in which you have to use it, you can grapple and glide around just as much as you can in Arkham City.

God I hope they don't come out with another Batman game. There's bee 4 already and the well is dry. Batman only has like 4 good villains and they have been overused. Move on the Legion of Super Heroes or Justice League. If they did LOSH, the roster is huge and you could even have a create-your-own hero and be a new recruit. Now THAT would be fun. Plus LOSH has so many goofy heroes and villains back in the day!

It felt like a driving game with a bit of fighting in.

court of owls is coming announcement in august. but ye I would kill for a justice league game.

TOO MUCH. Using the Batmobile for traversal puzzles were cool but the actual combat sucked. Don't know what Rocksteady was thinking. I can see here and there but it felt like the Batmobile was the star of the game as opposed to Batman but that's just me.

It's been 5 years since the last Batman game. We've had millions of Call of Duties & other "hide in long grass" AAA games since. But apparently Batman has a "dry well"? How about no.

Arkham Knight was also a great game for what it's worth. The only part of the Batmobile which was overused were the tank battles.

It's a lot, but unlike most, I liked it. I actually do appreciate how Rocksteady really changed the formula every time instead of pulling a Far Cry and just making the same game over and over.

I played it on OG XBOX One back in the day and it ran great and looked better. I think there was a ton of bad community reaction to the game as it ran like shit on the PC.

Controversial Gaming Opinion: I loved the game....even the Batmobile sections. I like straffing with it in tank battles and driving around and launching out of it. Some of the races kinda sucked. I did end up 100% the game with all the Riddler stuff which used the batmobile....it was tedious but still enjoyable.

During COVID lockdown bought abcoou of Arkham Origins for $5. It's the last one I havent played (not sure how I missed it). But excited for it...and upcoming Court of Owls.

I recently just completed this game for the first time and the Batmobile was not my issue. It was how much the game dragged on near the end. Was so annoying.

And people saying that Spiderman is better need to seriously get a grip, its a watered down Arkham on literally all ends, game was so shit they couldn't even come up with more than 3 different attack patterns per boss, nor having their own combat system

I agree on this.

Spiderman was good, but vastly overrated. The game has virtually no indoor sections apart from some rather shitty ones with other characters (nearly all of those sections were bad). The combat wasn't as good as Arkham I thought. Especially not the predator sections and enemy AI. I feel Arkham does a lot of things better except for the travel perhaps but Spider man is bound to be faster at that.

What Spiderman excelled at for me, might be controversial, but its the storyline. I thought the character development of some enemies was very good. As well as some dramatic scenes.

Maybe it's because my PC is decently powerful or because the game was patched by the time that I purchased it for PC, but it ran and looked great on my PC when I first played it and still does now. I have a GTX 1080Ti now; but when I first played the game on PC back in 2016, I had a 980Ti.

1. i7-5820k
2. Asus X99 Deluxe
3. 8 x 4GB (32GB) Crucial 2400Mhz DDR4 RAM
4. EVGA GTX 1080 Ti
5. Samsung EVO 500GB SATA SSD
6. Western Digital Caviar Black 1TB HDD
7. Western Digital Blue 6TB and 4TB HDD
8. NZXT H440 Mid-Sized Tower

I'm just saying that there are so many OTHER super heroes (actually Batman doesn't even have powers) that they could use, why go back and do another one. All games have that issue....sequel-itis! No original games anymore.

I spent 5 minutes trying to find the boxart with just the batmobile and no Batman, surprisingly could not find that.
Legit the game is 75% Batmobile. It's insanely frustrating. You like Deathstroke? GET READY FOR A TANK BATTLE. You need to get inside that building? USE THE BATMOBILE.
It's so cool at first, but they REALLY overdid it. Every now and then you get into the Batman groove and then BAM you get thrust right back into the fucking car.

And what about you getting a grip instead and let people have their opinions.

For me spiderman has far better traversal and combat (even if inspired by batman) than gotham series and so for me it's simply more fun to play.
Also no fucking batmobile or desolated city for bullshits reasons...

They are all good games and more a matter of taste than difference in quality.

Been meaning to get to this game for so long, I loved the original trilogy (I count Origins, I love Origins, controversial probably but eh).

Everything seems so much better, from the visuals (obviously), to the combat and the open world aspect, it all just seems like such a step up, but the biggest gripe for me is how much fucking Batmobile content I have had to go through already in just this small section of the game.

It handles well and is fun at first, and the controls work pretty well, but most of my time has been in the Battank and not actually doing what made the original games so good, I have ignored most reviews up to now but I know the Batmobile is essentially a meme at this point.

So, I am guessing it must get worse as I progress? Or does it get better from here in respect to the driving/tank sections.
35% of the game is batmobile. and i dont mean if you have to get 100%. even the story has dozens of batmobile related puzzles. its there to compliment the melee combat and stealth sections.

Just play the game. I like almost all of the uses of the batmobile, I enjoyed the "tank battles", I enjoyed the puzzles with it, I thought it perfectly fit into the world, you can use it to travel if you want but I mostly just glided everywhere so its not a necessity for moving around the world.

I fucking love this game, I hope you enjoy it to, but you probably won't if you keep second guessng the game. Just play it. If you don't like the batmobile stuff don't do the optional stuff and focus on what you like.

1. Switch the controls to toggle tank mode so you dont have to hold the button

2. Some of the sidequests are dedicated to Batmobile stuff. If you skip those, there isnt a lot but there are still some shitty parts where you have to use the Batmobile.

Bat mobile is awesome. Except the riddler challenges. Too much hate in my opinion.

I get the hate for the races because not everyone likes racing games, makes sense to me. The other hate not so much. I've completed the game 100% four (4) times now and I plan on starting again soon, literally everytime I go to "play a few missions" I just complete the whole game again. Its like The Thing for me, I could watch it 100x and still love it, if someone mentions it I want to watch it lol

I love the attention to detail in the game with the batmobile. When you are fighting thugs on the street you can hold the batmobile button instead of pressing it and it careens round the corver and pulls up next to the battle, which scares the shit out of the thugs and gives you the batmobile takedown option. I just wish there were more animations for batmobile takedowns.

My list of "problems" with this game is so trivial and most of them are oversights in game design or nitpicks.

Yeah, the alternate controls make more sense for races and doing battle mode challenges, but I don't have it set to toggling because it means you can't change to battle mode as quick and do quick 180s using it. Thats my experience anyway.

One more thing. Dump upgrades into the Batmobile even if you arent doing the sidequests. Extra Dash and armor are some of the best to start wtih. You will thank me later.

I played this back at launch and only got about 5 or so hours in, until the bat tank stuff put me off. It was weird, cos I liked the way it handled and felt, but it just didn't feel very Batman'y. So I dropped it

Fast forward till last year when the game was free on psn+ and I thought I 'd give it another go, and try not to be put off by the tank stuff. I'm glad I did. Ended up going all the way through and beating it while doing most of the side content. Some 5 years on its still doing some pretty neat stuff, and still looks pretty damn good too. So IMO its worth sticking with. If you're at all into Batman then especially so

Now what the hells happening with Rocksteadys next game? Its been ages...

Too much batmobile. Still, it's not too bad. I still replay all the Arkham games each autumn/fall and I thought the batmobile did ruin the story parts of Knight. When just roaming about Gotham and doing the riddler stuff/open world checkbox stuff I just discarded it and flew about and called it in if a riddler trophy required it.

Batman has done great for the super hero video game genre, they brought in open world, the batmobile as the op mentions and bringing different villains, for a lot of people that was their first AAA Super Hero video game.

And people saying that Spiderman is better need to seriously get a grip, its a watered down Arkham on literally all ends, game was so shit they couldn't even come up with more than 3 different attack patterns per boss, nor having their own combat system
Spiderman don't have Batmbile. That's make it 10x better game. Seriously what they were thinking? Batmobile platforming? Batmobile stealth? Batmobile puzzles? Riddler races? Batmobile battles with bosses?

But you can drift, use missile and turbo using batmobile just like in CTR.
Yeah but one was a multyplayer game that you play with friends, the other is a batman game where they force on you the fucking car.
The driving model was not the problem, the car being in the game in the first place was the problem.

If you like to be 'evening the odds' you'll love the bat tank. I just felt it ruined the chance of some good boss battles in the story by shoe horning the tank in there, while the riddler courses were fun but tonally odd from the Riddler's perspective. The expansion stuff which concentrated on the predator sections and combat arenas were better.
