Just tried Five Guys, does it get better than this?

IMO
Top: five guys (Cajun fries are God level and the burgers are good), Shake Shack (smoke burger is Insanely good, fries are meh), in n out (for the price, burger not as good as the others but much much cheaper), the counter
Mid: hook, umami, habit
Bottom: McDonald's, Wendy's, jack in the box, Carl's jr
N/a: smash burger (never had it)

Both Five Guys and In N Out are great. Have to say I like Five Guys more though.

Of all the times i've ever been to a 5 guys, i've actually never ordered a burger. I've only ordered the cajun fries and went to other places for food, Kirby's coney island for $1 coneys(during coney month), a bowl of chili (for the fries), and the meijer next door to all these location for a drink (i did this once on a Fat Binge(i think thats the right term) day ... it was the fattest i've ever felt in my life)) I should really try the burgers, just dont like the price, but if i'm willing to pay the price for a nacho/burrito at qdobas .. well i should bite the bullet.

In-N-Out was shit. Much prefer our Whataburger than that.
Also. Five Guys was amazing! I love their burgers, I also got free drinks there! The chick working there was awesome, and cute as hell.

Only downside being that the closest one might as well be in Yonkers.

Five Guys has very good burgers and fries, but it's too expensive for what you get imo. The only thing worth it on the menu for me is the cajun fries.

I don't understand how people can like five guys, the food is greasy as hell and tastes just awful.

I don't see the big deal with five guys, went there a few years ago and they use processed cheese.

I don't find anything significantly different or better about their burgers than any other Steak'n'Shake type place. I like the burgers at Denny's more than 5 guys, and Denny's burgers are cheaper, and bigger.
The only redeeming quality about 5 guys is when I'm hungry for burger and fries, their burgers are adequate, and their large fry is like unreasonably large.. great for when I'm stoned. Seriously go order a large fry.. it's just like.. wtf. Big thing of fries, tossed in a brown paper bag that is then filled with fries.

I don't get what you are paying for there? I think for the idea 5 Guys are making it and the ability to see five guys scurry around and inefficiently put together your meal. I could find three mexican guys that could do their work faster and better.
But to get back to the point. For the price you could eat at a simple italian or greek cafe and get the same meal with service. Not the pointless amount of fries or a bunch of extraneous toppings but a good burger and nice service.
The patties are cooked well which sad since they are putting on a show of cooking to order. Smashburger and other places all cook them well but they do the griddle smash and get that nice char.
The final indignity of 5 Guys may only apply to residents of Boulder, CO, but the 5 Guys is across the street from a Del Taco which offers the Double Del which you can get with a coupon for 99 cents. Even full price it's still half the cost of Five Guys.
From a taco joint, just as good as 5 Guys and cooked to order.
Hell yeah, the Denny's basic burger should be the scale all other burgers are rated on. Most fast food will fall below and a restaurant will have to do something special to be considered better.

If a double del is anywhere near as good as five guys you must have both an awesome del taco and a garbage five guys. They really aren't in the same league.
I find it hard to believe that anyone would call a five guys burger small. Are you ordering the little version?

The burgers and fries taste good. I swear some people have some unreasonably high standards and are unable to simply admit when something tastes good. Not everything has to be in competition to be your favorite thing, simply tasting great is fine by me, and Five Guys does that successfully.
One of the worst burgers I've ever had. People like it because it's huge.

Haha glad to find someone who know's whats up with Dennys Burgers.
I'm not a huge fan of Denny's food, nothing special about any of their Breakfast foods, dinners, or desserts.. but their burgers are really outstanding, and larger than what you get in other restaurants by a fair amount. Their Double Cheeseburger is huge.
Their food is, their prices aren't. They are by far the most expensive burger joint, for no reason that I have found. Their food is good, just fine, but not better than any of the competition.
Dirty Burger next to my work is pretty decent. It is literally in a tin shed at the back of a Pizza place with owner by the same people, but the burgers are pretty perfect.

Five Guys was great. Met some cool African American homies in my trip to LA with super nice service. Man, I never had fast food service like I did at Five Guys.
But In-N-Out food felt so fresh and divine.

But if a burger can't stand with just LTO then it's a subpar burger. Hell, I've had great burgers with no toppings besides cheese. Can you imagine how bland that would be at Five Guys?

This is fast food, no need to be a purist on toppings. If you find a combo you like, go for it.
And I have never had great burger with just cheese. Sounds like a generic summer BBQ burger.

Exact same experience. Burger was greasy as hell and the bun was disgusting. Looked like crap and definitely wasn't worth the price. The fries were overly salty/seasoned to the point where I had to throw most of it out. I'll try it again at some point but something like in n out is both better tasting and cheaper.
Which is the fast food area. By definition, places like that where you serve yourself and it comes right out / is already prepared are fast food.
