gross. gross. GROSS. :(

As someone who quit eating all types of fast food for 3 years now, just the smell of it makes me want to throw up. I know I probably don't belong in this thread, but I hope you know how bad this shit is for you. I mean... eating nothing but MacDonalds... you do realise you're taking YEARS out of your life, right? And who knows how much money to fix all the problems you'll get later on...

Mom! Meat loaf!!!!

Not only do I think their greasy burgers are overrated, Five Guys's price range easily falls in the territory of "Why not just get a burger from a local diner?"

5 Guys is ok, but we have an Elevation Burger nearby and that's my go to.

I've only ever been to Shake Shack once but the burger was tiny and cost more than any other place around us. As far as I'm concerned they suck.

For fast food they're great, probably the nicest fast food burger chain here in the UK but their prices are more like restaurant level and we have a tonne of great burger restaurants

but your avatar looks to be drinking from a fast food cup. mixed signals

Id love to get stuffed by 5 Guys but unfortunately I have to settle for The King inside me as that's all that's available to me locally.

Uhh i think its perfectly fine to eat it a few times a month, just not every day. Which i don't believe anyone here was claiming to do.

Very good point. I have to do something about that. I also cut all fizzy drinks. Haven't had coke in 4 years. Not missing it at all.

Honestly, at first I just wanted to cut it down, but when I cut it down, every time I went to junk food I felt grossed out. It tasted like shit compared to the cooked food I ate and it left me feeling empty and hungry with bad aftertaste, so eventually I just stopped eating it completely. I didn't go like 'oh i'll stop all the junk food I eat completely', the idea was to eat healthier and just do it less than I used to, but the moment I cut it down, I just no longer had the need or will to eat it. Ever again. I pretty much find it repulsive now, even just the smell. :(

Tried five guys twice and was not a fan. If only in and out was near me. That's my favorite. Also portillos burgers are amazing.

In so far as national chains? Not that I've found.

That said, I almost always go to local joints whenever I want a burger. The variety is incredible here in south florida right now.

I wish I could have your strength. I really enjoy carbonated drinks, and it's hard to go throughout the day without wanting one. My biggest weakness for bad food habits is bad carbonated drinks. ;=;

Edit: ♥ to those who have mentioned steak n' shake. wisconsin butter burger is delicioso

Never had five guy's. The bread looks greasy as hell.
What makes it so different than the other joints?

Good Selection of toppings, decent but not great meat, mountain of fresh made fries. Better than McD, BK, or Wendy's, middling compared to places like Elevation Burger and other mid-level fast food places.

Five Guys is too expensive and far too greasy. Their fries are absolute bottom tier - worst of any place I've gotten fries. When you get fries the bag is dripping with grease while the fries are really dry and bland.

i agree with all of this, especially the bold. although soaking the fries in some malt vinegar helps some. as a socal resident for basically all my life, im going with shake shack > in n out > five guys, and ive only had shake shack once.

Smashburger is what hits the spot for me Vs five guys. Even though five guys burgers are pretty big in size, the variety i have at Smashburger seems to win. and it's so damn delicious. mmmmmm im hungry now, thanks!

Five Guys here in UK is absolutely appalling.

Anyone been to the UK branches of Five Guys? One opened near my work recently but it's so expensive.

There is one in Bullring, Birmingham and its sort of popular, but thats because its one of those places you go for ''different'' experiences.

Its rubbish.

Here on Long Island we've got a burger joint called All American Hamburger Drive-In. It's not a franchise (it's the only one in existence) but it's the best fast food I've had.

BurgerFi was king, but after trying the new Walhburgers that just opened here in Orlando, I think it's my new favorite.

Sweet Potato tots and boozie milkshakes are both excellent as well.

Buddy took a group of us out to Five Guys a few weeks back for helping with a move. Just as bland and okay as I remembered it.

Good for you. I have my Cherry 7up weakness and have a couple of glasses of it during the holidays, but the rest of the year, it's tea, milk, and water for my beverage choices. Lost ~50 lbs. just from cutting out soda from my diet.

Back on topic (this debate is still going?), my tastes have not changed, though now that I got an indoor griddle, I almost like making bacon cheeseburgers at home more than going out.

My list is still:

In 'n' Out > Whataburger > Culver's > Five Guys >>>>>>>>>>>>> every other burger joint.

Macayo's also has a dece burger on their menu, which is a godsend when I'm dragged there since I can't stand most Mexican food.

After having it hyped up by some friends I tried 5 Guys and... the burger tasted just like Burger King to me. The bun, the patty, all of it... I was pretty disappointed and have never gone back.

Overpriced and overrated. If we're talking fast food I'll take Whataburger everyday over five guys. Red Robin is a step above fast food but about the same price as 5 guys and way better.
