Just tried Five Guys, does it get better than this?

Five guys is ok...I just think that if you're going to pay that much for a burger, you might as well go and get a proper restaurant burger.

My only recent escapade to the states, I tried both Five Guys and In-N-Out.

In-N-Out is a lot better because of the freshness of the toppings. Five Guys was pretty good, but the highlight there for me was the staff, who were all black, and were extremely joyous at their job. Never met a bunch of happier folks working in a fastfood joint than that place. In-N-Out were full of smile service, but that Five Guy shop were conversational.

Only saw this thread today, and coincidentally I had Five Guys (franchised) for lunch because it was closest to where I had to run an errand during lunch break.

I'd say Five Guys was awesome back when it was still a small chain of 3-4 restaurants fully owned and operated by the eponymous five guys in northern VA. Ever since they franchised, the quality (but not quantity) of food falls year after year. My burger today was one of the blandest and driest I've ever tasted, which makes me sad because they used to be the best at their price point.

So far, I think Shake Shack has done a much better job of expanding without losing themselves in the process, but I still tend to frequent smaller chains like BGR. I wish it were convenient to drop by Ray’s Hell-Burger more than once in a blue moon.

Love Five Guys, but it makes me poor as fuck. I rather go to In N Out twice for the same price. Also, hard to find Five Guys here, gotta travel like 20 mins for one.

Did you try more than one location? Or did you just go to one Five Guys and just assume that's how it is?

I've been to at least three or four different Five Guys and that is generally how I would describe their fries.

That said, I'm not sure "that's not how it is everywhere" is much of a counterpoint. The entire purpose of a fast food franchise is consistency.

Five Guys restaurants are incredibly and profoundly inconsistent between locations in my experience. They expanded so quickly that the expansion restaurants basically license the name/menu and might as well be completely different restaurants otherwise.

I honestly don't get the big deal about Five Guys. I've been there a couple of times, and it was an entirely ordinary burger. The only exceptional thing about it was the outrageous price.

Maybe it's better than McDonalds or Burger King, but having not eaten at either or those in about fifteen years, I can't say for sure. But if that's your barometer for quality in a burger, you need to stop eating fast food burgers.

Unless this was just a bad Five Guys.

You should try a gaytime with five guys.

How do you even begin to compare Five Guys to the likes of McDonalds, BK ect...

Not talking about quality here.

My first trip to Five Guys I ordered a Cheeseburger, Frys, and a Drink.

It was $13 dollars...this is twice the price of almost any combo from McD's/BK/Wendys.

most combos at Wendys cost me $9 or $10. don't know wtf you talking about.

Just had one of their cheese dogs for the first time last week, it was totally legit. I didn't even know they had hot dogs until that trip.

Frugal tip: The best Five Guys strategy is to order a water and then gorge on peanuts until your nut rage is sated. They're typically open until 10 p.m. so if you get there around noon you can really go to town.

Actually there right now. Up to my knees in discarded shells. Just made prolonged eye contact with the manager, as if to say "I'm just getting started, you motherfucker,"

This is how much that meal costs me in any place in NYC. Five guys is way better than those places

I've had Five Guys, JITB(lol), In-in-Out and FG beats them all.

I haven't had Shake Shack. I hear good things.

I ate there once about 2 years ago and it was by far the best fast food I've ever had. But being a fairly health-conscious person I've never been back. I think I probably lost a few days off myn life with that one meal, but damn was it good. I fantasize about returning one day.

shake shack is good but their pricing is even more outrageous than Five Guys.

$16 for a burger and shake. $9.50 burger.

burger is amazing though so i'd pay it.

I used to live in Cali and have heavy nostalgia for the fucking amazing In-N-Out I ate when I lived there for a few years. It was just as good years later when I came back to visit.

I went to Five Guys recently for the first time and it was a huge letdown.

In n Out is some of the blandest fast food I've ever had the misfortune of tasting. How it can even be in a conversation with five guys is baffling. Five Guys is the pinnacle of fast food dining, if it wasn't so damn expensive I'd eat it more than once a quarter like I do now.

It's ok. It's really not that great. Like, it's not bad, it's better than McDonalds, but it gets old real quick. Their burgers don't taste like a god damn thing, and their fried onions are legit shit tier. Fries are good when they aren't drenched in fuckin salt.

You'd get a better meal making your own burgers at home and seasoning them. Make your own fries too and you've got a meal that's like 20 times better.

Best burgers in my city, but don't have a In-and-Out, Whattaburger, or SmashBurger. We have a Fatburger, which is 100x worse than 5 Guys. I like a burger with mustard, grilled onions, steak sauce and lots of jalapenos and they offer me that, so I have to treat myself once in a while. Either way, no burger I've ever had anywhere is as good as as one of my home made burgers.

Smashburger is my joint.

I really like 5 guys but it's over priced. (but worth it)

In n Out is ok.

Never tried Habit even though it's less than a mile away.

I have InnOut, Five Guys and Habit within a mile. I have to drive like 5 miles to hit Smash burger.

barf tier: Whataburger

No. Ist does not get better than this. Everyone who disagrees is a filthy liar.

(Maybe Chick-fil-a, maybe!)

tomorrow is my last day off before i start working in an office again, and I think this thread just inspired me to get 5 guys for lunch tomorrow as its a 3 minute walk from my apartment

I've never had any of these fancy burgers but after I saw civil war I went to this place B Spot in Westlake and it was the best burger I've ever had.
