If you're expecting his music to be some great work of art, you're looking in the wrong place. Most music nowadays is simply meant to entertain (pop music unabashedly so) and in that regard, he's a great talent.

Gaga is (generally accepted as) a true artist. Her music can be hit or miss for people but her performances/music videos are typically well regarded. She's a rare commodity among musicians today. She's talented musically, mainstream, and can actually put on a good stage show. The only question here is whether or not it's lightning in a bottle (will it last?).
