Like it better than "Suit and Tie". Not feeling the chorus so much, but it could grow on me.

Hope he has Pharrell/Neptunes produce something for him on this album.

Judging by all the hyperbole in this thread I was expecting this to sound prodigiously good.

It's so boring - bonus track worthy and nothing more.

I like mirrors, but I immediately said to myself "this is a timbaland track" it just sounds so familiar. It does sound like a 2006 track. The beat sounds regurgitated. We had this before. The chorus is boring to me (the OHHH OOOH is kinda nice). The main verses are great though, and I like the melody. Luckily the song changes about 5 minutes in. it gets better and it sounds new and different.

The nice verses (especially the final one) and the last 3 minutes help it.

Mirrors grew on me so fast after two listens. I'm digging everything about this right now. The Journey-esque 80s intro, the instrumental with his backing "oh oh" in the chorus, the chord progressions in the chorus, and the lyrics are fairly well-executed as well. The transition in the last quarter is unexpected but really fun, though I sort of get irked at JT for having the longest fucking outros that overstay their welcome but I'm feeling this one. It's just fresh.

So far this album is sounding a lot more like Justified than Futuresex/Lovesounds, and that's totally A-OK. Between this, Lady Gaga and Beyonce this year, 2013 is looking to be a great year for pop.

The outro is my favorite part of the song.

I agree. I think people have WAY too high expectations. It's not even really expectations, it's more like they have an idea in their head of what all of his new songs and album should sound like and it's not matching. Although I'm still lukewarm on Suit & Tie.

But I've been having Mirrors loop all day yesterday on Youtube and to me it's very JT and fills something missing in the music space recently.

Also, I'm hoping he comes out with something like My Love.

Edit: Also I like how you pointed out some things in the song that I didn't notice, thanks. I really like how powerful the end of the first chorus is. STARING BACK AT ME, STARING BACK AT ME!

Ok I downloaded it from google play and now I'm finding myself singing this a lot. I'm loving the song. If you don't like the song much at first give it a chance, it definitely grew on me.

The second song he performed on the Grammy's is pretty great too. I think it's called Pusher Love or something like that. Pretty pumped for the rest of what's coming.
