Kay plays Dark Souls II: the anti-Jeff Green

I think DeS and DkS are both easier for me simply because I'm used to their mechanics. My difficulties with Dark Souls 2, most of the time, stem less from the actual difficulty of the game and more from me trying to play it like its predecessors despite the changes.

Well yeah the hardest moments in DkS2 for me were in Forest of the Giants, exactly because of that reason.

Once AGL was around 100 and i had given up backstabbing in favor of stun locking, the game became pretty easy, save for a couple of tough bosses.

But backstabbing is so incredibly safe to do in DS2 since you don't have to ever lower your shield to do it.

The window to do it is narrower though and enemies spin like crazy.

I just could be bothered with it.
Plus i'm usually playing with shieldless builds so...

Anyway, by now she has enough proficiency with the series, where i think this game will be somewhat of a cakewalk for her, but i'm still very much looking forward to seeing it, as i loved DeS even if i played it after DkS.

Weird, there was no maiden in black roaming around in the last episode.

She doesn't show up until after you clear 1-1

I'm a little annoyed that she's been reading the floor messages, after she seemed to decide in Dark Souls 2 to never glance at them. Not a big deal, but she's shown she doesn't need any hints, and I figured she preferred it that way.

I told her in the youtube comments that hints in Demon's Souls are nice and vague, in contrast to Dark Souls II, so it's more safe to look at them.

On the contrary, i'm glad she started reading them.

Poise breakpoints are just insanely high. Go for 76 poise at least. Bigger weapons and anything 2h will auto break poise though.

It'd be crazy if she gets half of the Tendency stuff but I did just post a comment to her latest video of the Tendency description that's in the manual. Does that go against a "Blind" play?

"The Soul Tendency of each area and player can be seen [in the World Tenency screen]. Actions like dying and defeating certain enemies cause the World Tendency to shift between white, grey and black, affecting enemy strength and a player's stats in Soul form. New enemies and passages may also appear at certain World Tendencies."

Good point.

I greatly preferred Demon's to even dark.. Then Dark Souls 2 allowed you to say pretty much anything you wanted without hesitation.

Anyway, yeah, I'm sure she'll like this game more.. Demon's has the best atmosphere without a doubt.. I just wonder what it must be like to come at Demon's after playing Dark and Dark 2.

Anyone know why her game calls it a

instead of a Shard of Sharpstone?

As a perfectionist, she's going to be so annoyed by the crappy translation. Even though DeS is a low-budget game, the actual English version was MUCH better.

There's so much stuff that's going to catch her offguard, it will be interesting to see.
Yurt killing off NPC:s, world tendencies all over the place, Ostrava going off and getting killed, weird upgrade paths...
It was fun to see her almost aggro the shopkeeper.

I love how meticulous she is, and attentive to detail. I wish I played like her, far too often I tend to run through stuff and miss so much.

Thoroughly enjoying these playthroughs.

It's kind of working against her in this game, since she's constantly looking into a corner to have a look at the furniture while three undead are ambushing her.

I didn't know she's doing Demon's Souls now. My interest died out with her DS2 playthrough but I think I'll check this one out.

Same. I know what rendering and deleting does to a HDD. It can destroy it pretty quickly. I read somewhere that an average successful youtuber goes through TB HDDs like they're nothing. o_o

I'm eager to see what order Kay will tackle the levels in since this is the most open Souls game. It'll also determine when/whether she'll start using the
Blessed Mace from 5-1
as her main weapon for much of the game :P

I never thought about farming the phalanx for shards by quiting out or purposefully dying after you've killed all the smaller ones. I just usually do that then when they're all gone, kill the mama. Though I've done similar boss minion farming in DS2 by homeboning out.

I guess there's really no need to since you get access to Stonefang right after it, but still another way to farm.

Damn Demon had a lot of cutscenes and was much more overt in its story, plus the items/souls descriptions weren't as rich as Dark Souls.
Didn't remember this, but i don't mind it, to be honest.
