Kenny vs. Spenny is a Canadian comedy reality television series starring Kenny Hotz and Spencer Rice, who face each other in various competitions. The loser each episode must perform an act of humiliation, usually selected by the winner. Hotz created the series, and it is typically shot in their hometown of Toronto, Ontario, based mainly out of the house they share. As of November 2008, the show airs on CBC, Global and Showcase in Canada, on Comedy Central in Germany and the Netherlands, on The Comedy Channel in Australia, on Sony Max in South Africa, on FX in Portugal, on JIM in Finland, and on Comedy Central in Sweden. Kenny asserts that the series was completely unscripted, and is all real.[citation needed] The series concluded with an hour-long Christmas special that aired on December 23, 2010, at 9 pm ET/PT on Showcase.[1]
The series was nominated for the Canadian Comedy Awards in 2010 and 2011 and for Gemini Awards in 2005, 2006, and 2008 as the best Canadian comedy series, and received a Rose d'Or nomination in Switzerland for "best international comedy series". The show has spawned several replicas of its format, including a family-friendly French Canadian version called Frank vs Girard that airs on VRAK.TV. Also following the format are Ed vs. Spencer in the United Kingdom, Juan vs. Roman in Latin America, Elton vs. Simon in Germany, Katja vs. Bridget and Dennis vs. Valerio in the Netherlands. During a radio interview on 29 February 2012, Hotz said he is interested in doing a seventh season of the show, saying that if a network picks up the show they would definitely be interested.

This is the best non-sitcom show that's ever been on television.

Kenny is the man and Spenny is unintentionally hilarious. This show is consistently entertaining and has no boundaries. Even the crew is lovable in this show. The audio and soundtracks they use are tastefully hilarious. And even if it is scripted which I cannot believe, but if it is then it is a hell of a performance every episode for 7 whole seasons. I'm talking Day-Lewis tier acting if it's all acted out, so probably not.

Why don't they.. This show needs to come back.

I remember going on a marathon for this show a while back. Many laughs were had, Kenny obviously being the main reason.

Still don't like how he treats her mom though :P

edit: his*

wait this show was staged

Who Can Win A Cockfight is fucking golden.

No, it's great. It shows how secure his relationship with his mom is. This guy obviously knows right from wrong but still does things that are considered extremely offensive. He's way ahead of the curve and he's the man for it. Goldar and Silencio are legendary.

Kinda like Mythbusters.

Main difference being of course that the Mythbusters can't carry on a scripted conversation without making me want to tear my ears off. So forced it hurts.

Scripted or not, KvS is great. I loved when they were competing to see who could piss off more people and Kenny parked his car in the middle of Dundas Square (Toronto's busiest intersection) and walked away.

Holy fuck, I had COMPLETELY forgotten about this show.

Staged or not, very few things have gotten me to laugh as hard as some of the shit on this show.

One of my favorite shows of all time.

Scripted or not Kenny is a real life narcissist that is legitimately funny and Spenny is a real life neurotic loser.

They mesh like peanut butter and chocolate on screen.

Season 1 was very conservative because they were on a national canadian tv in the middle of the afternoon. But once they went on cable, they were amazing. Season 2 & 3 was fucking gold.

Who Can Produce More Semen?, Who Can Sell More Bibles?, Who Can Kiss More Women?, Who Can Win a Ten Mile Race?, Who Can Lift More Weight With Their Genitals? Who Can Stay in a Haunted House the Longest? All amazing. Even if it is scripted, the dynamic between Kenny & Spenny was great. They're really like the odd couple.

I want to believe that Spenny was stupid enough to be tricked into believing he was contacted by Health Canada with the possibility that he may have contracted HIV, or believing he sold a Hollywood script & Robert De Niro wanted to work with him or thinking he was having oral/bj with a woman when really Kenny hired a transsexual. It was still entertaining television.

Season 4 jumped the shark. Didn't like 5 or 6. They seemed like they were going through the motions and didn't want to do it anymore.

I actually met Kenny a few weeks back, he's actually taller then I imagined, like 6 feet and his girlfriend is smoking hot.

Like everyone else, seasons 2 and 3 are must watch television. Probably the hardest I laughed at a television show since the original Jackass season.

One of my favorite shows OF ALL TIME. I remember watching season one on CBC after The Simpsons as a kid. Such a fantastic show. Too many amazing moments to recount, but heres a quick 3 favorites:

1. Kenny "impersonating" Spenny. The masturbating with the tweezers, the eating the poop, the cutting his wrists - "I DON'T KILL MYSELF!"

2. Spenny's rules for the dancing competition:
Spenny: "No dancing machines"
Kenny: "What about my giant dancing machine?"
Spenny: "Also no dancing stand-ins"
Kenny: "What about my army of dancing stand ins?"
(paraphrased of course)

3. Also the episode of who is the coolest, with Spenny's "cool" character, and everyone just laughs at how awful it is. The whole bit is soooo satisfying to watch it blow up in Spenny's face.

LOVE that show.

lol. I genuinely feel bad for Spenny sometimes. I just don't get why his best friend is Kenny.

I loved the episode "first one to get a boner loses", when Spencer called his hot cousin to flirt with Kenny and then got pissed because Kenny didn't get a hard on since he took anti-boner pills lol or when Kenny brought him to a strip club, but instead of having a chick grind on him, he got a dude, and Spenny lost since he got a boner. It was amazing.

Or how there was an episode where Spenny wore a plastic penis in his underwear since he was self conscious about this package.

Haha, those are great scenes. The plastic penis had me in stitches, then they bring it back and have Spenny use it on the dummy in the "torture" competition.

Also I love Spenny's reaction to the boner in the strip club, "I saw the girl out of the corner of my eye and got an erection." Yeah... cause that's how it works.

This competition started out great.
Kenny putting on his jeans halfway and standing crooked. "What are you doing?!" I'm not the fucking elephant man!"

I thought Spenny had this one, until he let Kenny get to hkm.

The semen challenge was hard to watch, but god damn if I didn't laugh. This was a staple of 2nd year res. Oddly enough, the roommate from New Zealand was the one who suggested we all watch it as group. He was right to do so. Scripted or not, great stuff.

I remember watching this show, but I don't really think of it as something amazing or great, just more of something that really tried to be outrageous and crazy, and usually just didn't amount to much. Going back and watching it now really doesn't do anything for me.

I mean, check out the last part of this episode. By the time they get to the challenge, it's something completely different and stupid as fuck.

I don't know if that's a shit example or what, maybe the other episodes were better, but I don't remember this being that great overall.

Fucking loved this show. The fart episode is probably the funniest thing I've ever seen.

The goat episode, the meat episode, the boner episode... this show was awesome.

Don't be a stiff, this show is spontaneously fun.

Hey, I don't mind any kind of dirty humor, I just don't think this is funny. The scripted vs non scripted thing is a whole other debate I guess, but to me, it feels scripted, and that's what makes it feel kind of lame, because it feels like they're just trying to shock you the whole time, and it falls flat.

I mean there are some good gags, but overall it just doesn't do it for me.

I watched a few episodes. It was a good show, but it didn't hook me. I got a bit squeamish.

Spenny threatening to throw himself off the bluffs when he lost, though... man, that was funny.

Its hard to believe just a few years ago Showcase aired two of the funniest shows on TV. Now its all just bad sci-fi and NCIS reruns.

The show started to lose me during the season they had the "Who Can Piss More People Off" competition. That's when the show started to really feel like the situations were really setup.

The Octopus episode and the Goat episode are probably my two favourites. There's a user here with the name Pilthgor and it always cracks me up.

Ya, it all went to hell when Canwest (now Shaw) bought Alliance.

Showcase was a daring channel that showed and produced daring programming. Canwest wanted a generic cable channel to air American cable shows, so they made it into one.

CTV did the exact same thing to Bravo, although Bravo didn't meet nearly as awful a fate as its US namesake did.

Media consolidation sucks.

Kenny has talked about how much of the show is scripted. Basically both teams can plan ahead for the challenge so certain things like stealing an X-ray machine can be set up. The other team never knows what the other has going so it is still a legitimate challenge.

The show is fantastic and I really hope season 7 happens. Management at Showcase has gone to shit though so my hopes aren't up.

The last two seasons were a mixed bag. They really needed a break to come up with ideas or should have taken more suggestions for challenges from viewers. Stuff like smoking pot was lame but there was still some good episodes. The one where they can't touch the floor was excellent. Kenny eating shit because the Segway messes up was hilarious.

Kenny vs Spenny always makes me laugh when I have a bad day lol. I think the chances of any new episodes are slim to none, Kenny is selling props from the show online (some of his tshirts, posters and stuff) and Spenny's tv career is probably over by now.

I wasn't a big fan of Testees but I absolutely loved Kenny Hotz's Triumph of the will. My favorite KvS episode will always be the farting competition though.
