Keurig machines are awesome

Keurigs are amazing because I'm absolutely the laziest person when it comes to making coffee. It's quick, and it gets me out the door in the morning.

There are some very obvious downsides, as mentioned in this thread, but the convenience alone makes up for it IMO.

I don't even see how it is more convenient besides the fact that you have to use a filter in regular drip coffee. You can buy drip coffee makers and program them to have coffee in the morning.

Ehh, don't let all the negative folks in here sour you on the Keurig. It's a convenient little machine for sure. If you can make your work with he reusable k cup you don't need to buy refills, just put coffee grinds in it and reuse. As for maintenance, make sure to empty the water reservoir and run a water/vinager solution through it to prevent nasty calcium and other buildup in it, and to keep the coffee clean tasting.

I've switched over to manual pour over personally, it's overall better for me but the Keurig isn't too bad at all.
Trust me I still plan to use it weekly.
I have a regular coffee maker and ect. My mom just knows I am a huge coffee drinker and decided it would be a nice gift for me. I don't fault her for it.

I am going to buy some reusable k-cup asap because I still have a shit ton of ground coffee that I can use . thanks for the cleaning tip.

I stopped using mine because the amount of unrecyclable plastic I was just throwing away into the trash on a daily basis was horrifying.

reusable cups are awesome. Also, you can usually find local coffee roasters who sell their coffee in k cups. Much fresher coffee!

There's better coffee but when most people are just going to throw cream and sugar into it I don't think your going to notice a huge difference. It's fast and theres next to no cleanup required. Enjoy!

Absolutely there is better coffee and if i had time to do french press in the mornings i would but when i drink coffee i don't drink it for it's taste i drink it because i need the caffeine to wake me up and if my option is to throw a cup into machine and spit out a cup in less than a minute vs having to wait like 3-5 minutes for water to get to 200 degrees on my shitty stove then wait another 3-5 minutes for the coffee to sit in a french press it's really not a question of what i am going to pick.

And i actually don't have a problem with the taste of the keurig especially when i do have a bit of extra time to throw some fresh'ish ground beans in a re-useable up.

They are trash. OP, this is not drive by shit posting. Coffee is something I feel strongly about. Keurig machines make a watery cup of coffee. The pods are expensive and wasteful. The reusable pods are better, but the coffee is still trash. A drip machine makes a better cup of coffee than a Keurig. Making a good cup with something like a press takes a couple minutes but the results are far superior. I get that people are busy and plenty of us "just don't care" about their coffee, but Keurig is so bad it should make you care. Plenty of you don't care how you dress but you don't leave the house wearing a bathrobe.

mmm I am good with the keurig but ty for the concern.

My set up at work:

-Keurig machine
-Espresso machine

My morning routine:

-brew a cup of coffee in the Keurig
-brew a double shot in the espresso machine
-pour espresso shots into coffee
-enjoy

Let's say i switch to french press.

Is buying already ground beans fine? Because i don't live in a universe where i am gonna spend time buying beans, grinder, grinding them, cleaning it etc. If you are telling me i can get an amazing cup of coffee by buying a bag of ground beans i will go buy a french press from target today. And what french press do i buy? there are literally a million

Coffee is srs business, OP

I like milky coffee lol. I have dual thermoblock espresso machine. Once you know how and have machine dialed in its quick and easy.
Turn on. Get milk and cups plus grind and tamper coffee. 60s heat up and all this done. Can start frothing milk. When almost hot enough start coffee extraction. Pour over milk and done.
Maybe 2.5 minutes and another 30s to rinse off. Not much slower than boiling a jug/kettle of water.

Wife was unsure about getting machine but now convinced and won't drink any instant or pods anymore.

I have aeropress for hiking.

I think learning curve if anything should be the putt off. Saying you don't have time is equivalent of saying don't have time to cook. Which means you waste your life eating shitty bought meals.

We spend so much of our life eating why not enjoy it. That's why coffee drinkers come off as snobs. Once you have a taste for good coffee in style you like you realise how Shit old stuff is and can't go back.

Guess it depends on if things like instant are the flavour you prefer.

its coffee mate. not that srs.

Get an Aeropress if you don't want to grind the beans. Store grind is too fine for french press.

I bought one for my wife for Christmas and we love it. She had one at work and wanted one at the house. We are not hardcore coffee lovers or aficionados so itos perfectly fine for us.

This thread is like when someone likes a supposed bad movie and they get trashed for it. I don't like bad movies but good for someone enjoying or liking what they are into, I don't care.

Enjoy it OP, it's great if you love it. Many people do by the way, there is a reason it's so popular and just about taking over the coffee aisles in stores.

Nah. I thought the same at first too, but it doesn't get the water hot enough, coffee doesn't taste as good either. I don't know how it's really saving you money, it didn't seem that way to me.

Everyone on this thread that has complained had better recycle everything they possibly can 100% of the time, use reusable grocery bags and drive an eco friendly car.

OP,glad you like it. My dad has the mini version and loves it. My mom doesnt drink coffee he likes that he can make himself a cup without have to make a whole pot.

There's not a single redeemable quality about Kuerig aside from a marketing illusion manufactured for Americans. The coffee is uniformly shit quality and the waste it creates is beyond embarrassing. In short, there's zero reason to own one unless you think convenience trumps all other possible considerations.

Get some beans. a $10 grinder, some paper filters and a hot water kettle. Instantaneous coffee that tastes infinitely better and fresher and creates zero waste.

Depends on how much you enjoy food and drink. I like my bed to have a nice mattress that suits me. And I ain't even awake at the time.

Food is important as is what we drink. While not everyone will have a passion for creating/cooking. Trying to improve something that takes up a good chunk of your life is an ok priority to have imo unless you smoke. Probably can't taste Jack all anyway.

I like the creation part and eat decent home cooked meals and home brew cider beer spirits cheeses, plus have a vege garden.

Definitely not for everyone but that doesn't mean you shouldn't try to improve. Maybe you just like McDonald's processed tasting burgers once and a while. I eat fast food every now and again. But if someone says hey look you can make super tasty burgers yourself with a bunch of fresh produce and meat your deluding yourself if you think that isn't the better option.

Time etc becomes a factor. But unlike McDonald's which is cheaper than yummy home cooked meal we are talking coffee. Not only is the cheaper option the better tasting and depending on method its sometimes quicker as well. Plus unlike the odd trip for some fast food your probably having every day and maybe multiple times a day. Why not have the best.

Anecdotal but i have yet to meet a person that prefers instant coffee for taste alone. Or maybe they just being nice because I make them coffee haha.

this made me lol. Bloq is going on about home cooking and shit. lulz.
none of what you are saying has anything to do with me enjoying a cup of coffee. I am fine. thanks for the concern I think?

I like mine since my wife is a decaf drinker. I used to have some kind of brew and go black and decker thing that made a cup using normal grinds, but opening 16 ounces at a time was never ideal because it'd take too long to get through and it melted itself eventually anyways.

I try to buy the SF Bay cups that are landfill friendly.

Only problem with Keurig is that it brews too quickly, with water that isn't hot enough so the coffee is weak as fuck

God you sound like an annoying ass person. Unless you are making your coffee like Gale Boetticher I bet you make an underwhelming cup anyway.

a lot of the posters here come off ass pure assholes and such, but I can understand where some are coming from.

Like I understand there are better options, and have made that clear on page 1. No need to give me a long rant about it. I am fine guys

You don't need go so far as to grind your own beans and all that, but simply for the cost alone I avoid using a Keurig and just use an electric drip machine. I bet I save at least fifty bucks a month drinking that every day versus the K Cups. And environmentally they seem to be bad, too.

My dad bought me a super expensive one. Not a fan of the coffee the cups put out and I have environmental concerns so I use a reusable filter. Not a huge fan, but when he visits he may as well see it out.

Funnily enough I made a thread about how much I hate Keurog machines and it didn't go well haha

take advantage of the sales mane.

I like an Aero Press, French Press, and in some cases even drip coffee more.

The Aero Press is a bit random but is easier for me to clean than a French Press. I should just get a watter kettle with temperature control and I think the Aero Press would be a lot more dependable.

I got a 20 cup coffeemaker at goodwill for 3 bucks. It pours hot water over coffee grounds and makes coffee. I'm satisfied :)

I have the Hamilton Beach FlexBrew. It can use K-Cups, comes with a reusable K-Cup for ground coffee, and half the machine is a traditional drip pot with carafe. If I am rushed and need a cup to go I can throw in a K-Cup, if I am relaxing at home and want an actual good tasting pot of Joe, I can grind some beans and make a pot. It costs $90.

Y'all are aware you can fill a reusable plastic K Cup with your own beans so you don't waste plastic right?

Anyway, I've had great coffee from Nespresso machines and just ok from Kerrigan, but Nespresso is expensive and similar waste issues

so what? I am happy with it :D

Hey nothing wrong with just enjoying instant coffee. If that's the taste you prefer. Go for it.
Just trying to point out how ridiculous it sounds to coffee snobs when people tell them stale food tastes better than fresh using food as an example. While spending more money on the stale version.

This doesn't make any sense, there's nothing wrong with being critical of a product that is exceptionally wasteful for what it does.

I like ginger snaps kinda stale because they're a bit softer

That's kinda the other thing. My Keurig makes a carafe but it's still pretty meager.

I used to use a big-ass drip coffee pot and toss that fucker in the fridge. I live in TX so some cold coffee with almond milk or whatever is pretty refreshing most of the year. So in a weird way, it was also faster and more convenient.

right now link me all the post here who said " keurig coffee taste better" you are coming up with bs reasons to post your thoughts.

also plenty of people here say they buy there stuff on sales and in bulk.

what I bolded is what you should of started off saying instead of coming off like an ass.

I vastly prefer French press over my Keurig, but it's tough to get the grind right, otherwise you're drinking silt. You don't want to buy it pre-ground either, cause one of the things that makes FP so good is the fresh grind. I'm not ready to spend $120+ on a decent burr grinder either. So add that all up, and that's why I'm ok with kcups.

I'd like to try Chemex, though.

Had mine for years but I just found out this year that cappuccino k cups were a thing.

Tastes just as good as the shop.

Call me lazy or whatever, but I love my Keurig! There are different brands of coffee I would never have been able to try if it wasn't for having this machine. Plus, my wife and I don't like the same type of coffee. She prefers a darker roast and I'm more on the medium side. It was a hassle before when we had your standard coffee maker because coffee ended up going to waste. She would brew a pot and then I would have to dump what she didn't use out to make mine. It's just as easy to pop in a k-cup and you're done. The convenience to me is worth the extra we pay.

That's a cool gift! I'm jealous I love my Keurig but I have an older model. Still gets the job done when I'm about to walk out the door. I get my k cups at Walmart.

Don't let all the negativity get to you. If you like it, that's all that matters.

No think about something or one cause unless taking care of every cause!!!
