Kevin Durant Signs With Golden State Warriors

You know who cares if we are. Where else in Oklahoma can you go and watch NBA teams come in and play Basketball live? Even if OKC ends up sucking we still get to see a lot of great teams come in and play.

Yeah, that is what happened in Seattle and those poor poor souls lost their team. Boo hoo boo hoo boo hoo.

Support the team you have or watch them leave for greener pastures.

i'm pretty sure this entire agreement with durant is under the stipulation that barnes will be going to dallas.

Obviously, but in terms of formalities they have to officially renounce Barnes to release his cap hold, so he'll sign a new deal with Dallas rather than the offer sheet he agreed to before.

This makes me feel a lot better about the Lakers being a long ways away from being even remotely competitive. It's probably going to be GSW/Cleveland in the Finals for at least 2, maybe 3 more years. I feel bad for any other "win now" teams.

Said the same thing a few pages back. Let them fight it out now and 5-6 years from now lakers will take over again.

Same. I'm fine with this while my team is also in the process of rebuilding.

Yup, incoming Pau.

KD now will just be anothet 14ppg cog in Golden States machine. Total clown

Now that im thinking about it, I think KD just gave up. The dude has been number two his whole life (drafted second, second in division, conference etc) and has gone on record stating this himself as well. It's like he has put in all this effort his whole life just to still be number two. Dude seems to just have accepted the role of being number two and just said fuck it and joined the Warriors.

The wine keeps flowing...

an interesting trickle down from this new salary structure is that these kinds of role players or has-beens are having to make the decision to choose money or a ring, like Joe Johnson. He probably is a guy that would fit in well on a team like GS or Cleveland as a bench player, but he got $11 million a year from Utah, so he's not turning that down to take $3 million form a contender. This is what the NBA needs to do ACROSS THE BOARD. Get rid of max salaries. Keep the soft cap. Would KD choose Golden State if he had to decide between $25 million a year from them, or $40 million a year from some other team?

Thing is, there has never been a pair of teams face themselves three times in a row in the finals before. This shit would be unprecedented

Even in OKC it had become debatable who the top dog was.

At a certain point you have to pick the option that gives you the best odds for a ring. Can't blame him

OKC resident and fan here.

Can't blame him with how the franchise has been handled since 2012. Not just the Harden trade (team actually managed to recover well from that). It was everything. Two straight years of handing Jeremy Lamb a rotation spot without earning it. Lots of hubris with how they built the team.

Intentionally alienating Reggie Jackson and ruining his trade value. Getting nothing for him. Throwing more money at Kanter than you did either Harden or Jackson. Handing Dion Waiters 30 minutes a game. Watching the team never hold Russ accountable on defense. Alienating Ibaka.

Can't blame him. Going to a functional organization will be a culture shock.

I didn't think it was possible, but this is probably worse than Lebron joining the Heat.

KD is joining the greatest regular season team of all time. A team that already has the #1 player on the planet (ok shut up, top 2 for sure). KD is the #3 player on the planet, and lost to said team in the Western Conference Finals about a month ago after being up 3-1 in that very series.

fuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuck

I get why he did this though.

I would have wanted out of OKC too. I wouldn't trust that organization to make the right moves long term as they made poor decision after poor decision. And none of the other teams that were after them really seemed to have enough to make a pitch that they were good enough to beat either the Warriors or the Cavs. Celtics would have been interesting but even with KD I don't think they beat the Cavs, and even if they did don't win in the finals

If he wins a ring it won't really matter and people will get over it over time just like they did with the Heat.

Sometimes I hate this league.

I've never understood the lilb thing. Never heard of the guy until this whole KD curse meme. And I listen to rap almost exclusively.

What really important is that fuck OKC.
Don't worry though, once Westbrook leaves next year you can build your team around Dion Waiters and get the success ya'll deserve.

He's the best player on the Warriors though.

I said it before, but I think it's a shift in how these guys view "legacy", and how their legacy is viewed in this new age of social media. He could do the "right thing" and stay in OKC and every year he doesn't win a title, these same people that right now would be lauding him for doing that "right thing" would be shitting on him and bombarding him with Crying Jordan memes. If he wins a title, you can't say shit about that. That ring and banner are not "intangible".

Yea ok, but you were on the cusp. Give it one more year at the very least with Russ

David Stern would have nuked this signing from space

Imagine if David Griffin (Cavs GM) agreed to trade Kyrie to the Spurs, then Dan Gilbert (Cavs owner) came in and said he didn't want to do it. That's what Stern did. He was the owner of the team. He vetoed a trade as the owner of a team. Not as commissioner.

How do people still not understand this?

I mean I still feel all kinda ways about his decision, but given the context of his history with the sport, I can at least understand why he did it. He is a number two option and wants to supprt the best number one he can.

Itll be like if Afro Samurai could never beat the number one and instead devoted his life to defending him.

Unfortunately, this makes for very one sided basketball.

OKC should just trade him now to the highest bidder.

He's gone next year anyway. They just lost a top 3 player in the league for nothing. They can't let Westbrook leave for nothing too
