Kevin Smith is making video games now

I wonder if his video game will have a ten minute discussion about dick sucking while Scott Mosier pretends to laugh.

I sigh most of the time when Smith tries to make a joke or tells an anecdote
or even talks
in Jay and Silent Bob Get Old. Jason Mewes is a champ.

I just want that long talked about animated clerks movie

The clerks animated series is by far the best thing he's done. I need to run through it again.

I don't know about this. He's gone real weird lately. I loved Smodcast before it went crazy with the network. Red State had an amazing first maybe 30 minutes before it went batshit. It kind of redeems itself by the end, but what a weird movie. And no I wouldn't call it anti-religious anymore than Dogma. Smith talks about how he considers himself a Catholic who believes in God so I don't think he's going at that angle. Like someone else said Red State is about fundamentalist idiots. That first 30 minutes is actually quite fucking scary. Dealing with people who won't budge despite reasoning when they totally could makes them scarier than a mindless Monster like Jason. Like I said though film doesn't really work as a whole.

He's really funny when he's standing up on stage and telling a story. Making an FPS though? On the iPad? Not playing to his strengths.

If his video game output is anything like his comic book output, NO THANKS.

Everyone should read Batman Widening Gyre just to see how bad a Batman comic can be. The only thing worse is Batman Odyssey by Neal Adams.

If it's anything like his comics writing, it will only take 8 years between installments.

And it will be fucking awful. I love his movies, but his talent does not cross mediums.

I'm glad I didn't have to say it. We all have our likes and dislikes, but I'll never understand what people see in Kevin Smith.

I like his stuff .

Clerks came out in 1994 when I was a freshman but I saw it as a junior in highschool. It worked really well since my friend and I had stupid jobs in which people would come and basicly hang out in the stores we worked at till we were done with the shift. Clerks worked really well for that time frame in our life.

MallRats hit onto another beat of my life. Here in North jersey we have a ton of malls and so we'd go and hang out at the garden state plaza to pick up girls or we'd head over to the dirt mall called bergen mall which basicly had a gamestop a suncost and a few run down department stores like value city . It even had some small village thing in the basement which used to be shops but was now like empty little homes. We'd basicly run around and get into all sorts of trouble.

Chasing amy was a good movie , I've never had an experiance like that with a lesbian girl but I've had my fair share of girls i'd love to hook up with but they would never give me the time of day.

Dogma was just a good movie , its hard to hate on it. Jay and silent bob was to slap stick for me but hey it still had its moments and had mark hamil fighting with a light bong . Clerks 2 hit again right before my 30s and the characters were relatible enough to me. Guys that sitll really didn't know who they should be with or what they should be doing with themselves.

Some stuff like cop out sucked , but hey not everyone makes a great movie every time they set out ot make one .

I liked Clerks and Mallrats a lot, J&SB Strike Back, Dogma and Clerks II had their moments, but I haven't really liked anything since. Not sure what his game will be like but having a Saturn in Mallrats was cool, let's hope it's a throwback to that era :P

Writer, producer and actor extraordinaire Kevin Smith is breaking into video game development with a new studio. His first title will be "an iPad thing," Smith said during Spike TV's pre-E3 coverage, but he said he'd like to do a Jay and Silent Bob FPS, because that way he and "Jay" actor Jason Mewes would stay young and active forever.
I hope not... would love to see some sort of Adventure game though.

All the NPCs will be named after his friends at Marvel, and Smith himself will have the audacity to cameo as someone named Stan Lee

Is it me or would a Monkey Island style game fit 'Jay and Silent bob' a lot better?

I mean, if he wants to 'stay young', an FPS where you never see the "character" behind the camera would be almost the opposite to his intent.

If you really wanted to do something that "parodied" or went meta with the FPS genre, make an FPS where the player really is just a floating camera. If you want it to be a shooter, instead of a puzzle, stealth (escape) or something other 'first person' game, literally ducttape a gun underneath that camera and take it from there.

(another free game idea, brought to you by another random gaffer (tm) )
