Snoochie Boochies!
He's not the brigthest bulb when it comes to marketing or the concept of what makes stuff popular. I really don't understand why he cares so much though, why would he admittedly sell out like that? I always wonder if he's bitter about where Ben and others who got their start because of him, have absolutely soared past him.
Eh, Clerks 2 was pretty shitty. I'd rather get another Jay and Silent Bob movie.
But good on Kevin Smith, I guess.
I doubt it. He's wished Affleck nothing but the best, and they're still on very good terms.
Richard Linklater's Multi-Year Spanning Saga
Before Sunrise (1995)
Before Sunset (2004)
Before Midnight (2013)
Kevin Smith's Multi-Year Spanning Saga
Clerks (1994)
Clerks II (2006)
Clerks III (2016-17?)
Mallrats and Chasing Amy are more part of Clerks 'Saga' than II was. They all center around Julie Dwyer's death at the YMCA pool. Clerks II felt distanced.
"Center around"? Maybe the first two, but in Chasing Amy, it's not really a major part of the story.
It'll be as climactic as Return of the King.
Well, it's a catalyst for Holden and Alyssa's relationship... sort of.
Look, there's only one Return okay, and it ain't of the King, it's of the Jedi.

That's a big stretch and you know it.
Kevin has absolute spiraled downward since chasing amy, the lofty expectations have just killed his confidence and has really tried to hard since then to find the magic. I'm still on board for this though, and hoping for the best!
It's more connection than Clerks II had!
To Julie Dwyer? Sure. But Clerks II was much more connected to them in the sense that the main characters are still main characters, as opposed to a cameo appearance and off-screen plot device.
I mean you get the impression that Clerks/Mallrats/Chasing Amy take place in a living setting with intertwined plots. Clerks II is kind of an anomaly in comparison.
Not really. It acknowledges the events of Clerks and Jay & Silent Bob Strike Back. If anything, the only anomaly is Dogma.
I don't know why you got the impression I thought otherwise?Uhh clerks 1 is significantly better than the sequel.
Meh, he's always had a sort of "I love the guy... BUT" type thing about the stories he tells of everyone. I take most of what he says with a grain of salt given how sensitive he is. I love him, I really wish he could break out of the shell, but he has the same issue as Rivers Cuomo, two of my favorite writers in their given field, who never really got back to where they were on top.
Hell yes! I'm excited.

I wish the Clerks animated movie had happened.
I fucking hated Chasing Amy and loved Clerks 2, Jay and Silent Bob Strike Back, and Zack and Miri Make a Porno. Dogma I found interesting, but not particularly funny.
So yeah, I disagree.![]()

They actually made a Jay and Silent Bob movie... but it looks kind of terrible.I wish the Clerks animated movie had happened.

Posting a Kevin Smith monologue video always equals me losing however long time it is to it. He's a brilliant speaker.I want him to go back and make the alternate ending to Red State http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YMCQvLMfLHQ#t=24m30s
