KH:BbS still due this Winter in Japan - Jump

Cinderella, Snow White, Sleeping Beauty,
Goddamn it, I really wish I enjoyed the underlying gameplay of these games. I love how they've rendered the Disney stuff and I would love to play a game that has those characters and worlds in it.

Have you played Re:CoM?
Yeah, I thought it was alright and controlled well, and of course quite strategic - I've just never been particularly happy with having to collect "attack" cards. Fine with a card battle system for all the rest of the commands. I'm hoping this isn't a clone of that, though.

Whaaat? CoM didn't have the best soundtrack, but it easily has the best story of the games. There's actual intrigue among the villains in it rather than pure, silly, Manichaean evil.

No one said anything about cards! The combat in BbS is like the combat in KH and KH2. The difference is that the special attacks are "equipped" in a deck instead of in ability slots. So the attacks you have available on your menu are sorta like a hand, and is based on a shuffle of the deck I think. These are all non-normal attacks, so it's more about balancing what sort of super combos you can pull off rather than limiting you from attacking or using items.

Does that include spells ? Because that would be incredibly annoying if you had to constantly shuffle your hand when you're in dire need of a Cure or something and you have no items.

Snow White! I'd be excited about this, except Kingdom Hearts butchered many of the Disney Worlds. Either that or the translation was bad.

Still having bad memories of Pridelands.

Interesting. I suspect there'll be algorithms in place that make you more likely to get healing cards when you need them/more powerful attack cards when you're really hurting. That sounds like it could be quite fun if implemented well (which it almost certainly will be).

It's good to see that of the 4 announced worlds, so far 3 are new for the series.

Edit: Mixed up Sleeping Beauty and Beauty and the Beast. All the worlds so far are new. This is even better.

Wait. Lilo and Stitch was confirmed? Why did I not know this?

Looks like they'll be concentrating more on the princesses of heart this time. Wonderland, Beast's Castle, and Agrabah probably won't show up since they've already been used twice in the series.

It would have been a good opportunity for the portable KH series to use more of the Disney TV shows.
I was hoping they'd use it to have a Pixar only game. The PSP demographic is a little older, and more male heavy than the PS2. It seems that Pixar would be more attractive to the majority of PSP owners.

Lilo and Stitch seemed to be indicated in the first post, unless I read wrong

They've managed to cram in Agrahah into every single game in the series. I'm sure it'll be back. Again.

The only good thing that came from the battle system were some of the attacks. The tornado and black hole one were the best.

So, does Japan really love Lilo And Stitch? Is it a Hawaii-Japan thing? Do they think the director's a creative martyr for going down with American Dog?

It keeps popping up in Kingdom Hearts, which is peculiar, I think.
Japan loves Stitch.

They don't know/care who Lilo is, and most of the Stitch fans in this country haven't seen the movie. Up until the Japan-only TV show (which does not have Lilo but instead a girl named Yuna and does not have Hawaii but instead takes place in Okinawa), most of them were shocked when I told them Stitch was an alien, as they thought he was some kind of weird dog.

But they definitely love his character design. Stitch merch is as prevalent and popular here as Mickey merch, and Mickey merch is fucking EVERYWHERE. He's particularly popular with young women.

I guess that's why they picked Deep Space! To educate the masses! :lol
Well, thanks to the Japan-only show, most of them know Stitch is a selfish spaceship gunfighter with aspirations of being the Conan-like ruler of a planet and having she-Stitches draped around his feet.

Close enough right?

It had the best story.

Wait, wasn't it just "Disney: The Abridged-er Series?"

It was basically a rehash of a rehash with political intrigue and betrayals (reminiscent of WWE) in-between.

ROFL.

I just saw a clip of the Japan only show. I'm confused as to what I just watched.

Cool, cool. I suspect that even people (like Chris) who aren't interested in the series love the Super Smash Brothers-like unveiling of new places. I suspect Shimomura did these 3 first (since 2 use the same songs, if not the same arrangements), and then jumped to Versus XIII. Hopefully, the soundtrack's sizeable. Can't wait!

Next week's Jump finally has a new preview on KH:BbS. It's still due "this Winter" so I suppose if it misses Dec, it'll be early 2010. They show two of the new worlds in BbS - one is the previously shown Cinderella world, while the other is a brand new Deep Space world from Lilo and Stitch. The game also features a "Deck Command System" where your skills are arranged and customized like a deck and activated sequentially on the command list.

Yessssssssssssss! Of all the Disney properties they could use, I figured Lilo & Stitch'd get passed over. Now if only we could get some Pixar up in this bitch.

EDIT: Oh man I hope this stays close to the version I love. Didn't know about the Japan-only show. =/

I'm really excited about this game, which is unusual given I have no intention to purchase the system required to play it.
ps2 port plz

Still hoping that this world will make an appearance in any Kingdom Hearts game:

I'm not familiar with any of the other Stitch looking creatures, so it's a bit odd, but whats even stranger is seeing Stitch dance along to a song that's apparently from High School Musical.

Do not want with the absence of Tony Jay. :(

Don't worry, it's based on the movie, not the Japanese series. :P

Man leave out the gargoyles and big ups on that from me. I can't think of what besides it (and yes, Pixar) would fit well for new games.

I can't wait to get this on PSP but after seeing those Epic Mickey art work, I'm kinda hoping that Kingdom Hearts takes that root with the 3rd installment. Not sure if I'm the only one.

Oh my God this is a great idea. Just how popular is Hannah Montana in Japan? I'd love to see her in a Kingdom Hearts game.

I shudder at the thought. The very being of your post makes me shiver.

Fixed.

I would love to see this though:

Same here. But wasn't it said that they were only going to use properties that had "world wide" appeal?

If that's the case, even though Gargoyles was considered, it likely won't get in because the Japanese audience has no real knowledge of the series. A pity...

I'm still holding out hope for the Phantom Blot though. Mickey's ultimate nemesis in his comic book series (which actually were quite serious business), and I would love to see him and Mickey fight at least once.
