These conspiracy theories are so weird, they went from a videogame voice actor to a proper one, thats it.

Hayter's acting was memorable but hammy as hell, just like the games. In Kojima's deranged mind he now thinks he's capable of making something that's genuinely 'Hollywood' quality so it makes sense that he would get an actual Hollywood actor to star in the game. Whether Sutherland can rise above the inevitably terrible writing remains to be seen.

I'm still hopeful for Hayter's participation somewhere down the line here. He's just playing his part extremely well but we all know he's one of Kojima's puppets.

5 bucks say he already has, but was banned immediately after, due to some troll shenanigans that have nothing to do with Metal Gear at all.

The reason was the need for a more broad acting range to convey emotions through face mocap.
Because David would have said "Otacon, are you ok?" while lo and behold KS will do with just "Otacon...?" and his talents will lay upon us such powerful subtext as "...are you ok?!"

So I've watched the new trailer and I have to admit the game looks amazing.
But every time I hear Big Boss speak, it instantly takes me out of the immersion. If I played this game, every time he speaks I would instantly get a mental image of Jack Bauer talking to someone at CTU. After having watched all of 24, that's what happens 100% of the time when I hear Kiefer Sutherland's voice. It happened in Call of Duty, and it happened in this trailer.
I still won't buy this game because of the way David Hayter was backstabbed, but if for some reason I ever did play it, I would play it on mute with captions on, and in my head I would read Big Boss's dialog with David's voice.

Gotta say, he was perfect in the E3 trailer, so despite being a Hayter supporter (it fit the wacky side of MGS, with his bad VA) i'm actually very ok with this.
This entry seems a bit less wacky anyhow.
