Killing Floor: Red Orchestra devs bringing 6-player online co-op to Steam1

Shit ... I was literally 5 minutes to late with my purchase. While is was comparing prices in the different Steam stores the price went up. Bought it anyway.

Money, money, money! Spam B and you can throw £50 around the place, pretty funny when the entire team is just throwing cash everywhere.

I'm not sure if it's the dev. or the tech, but the game does feel a little amateur and could do with some polish.

I'm on the verge of buying this. I have L4D. Convince me.

pls

It's nothing like L4D. You don't go from point A to B. You have different waves of zombies coming at your team and you can freely traverse the map to find places to defend yourself. Once the wave is over, you can go to the trader and stock up on armor, weapons, ammo, etc.

I really like the perks and achievements system. It seems like it's going to take quite awhile to max out all the different classes. I've only played 2 of the 5 maps included but they were really solid. The only negative thing I have to say about it so far is that the server browser sucks. It's exactly like the one in Red Orchestra.

I've played one game so far and it's pretty damn fun. Had some really intense and interesting scenarios on farm trying to funnel the enemies into one chokepoint. Never quite worked out the way we planned. :lol

I haven't managed to get into another good game after that though. Server browser seems all kinds of fucked up right now.

I'm having trouble with the master server not responding, so I can't join any games.

I played a tiny bit solo and I really like the feel of the guns. Hopefully server issues subside when the Linux server portion is deployed.

Argh! steam games always unlock when im at work! damn Australian time zone :lol

So how is it? me and a mate bought it on a whim the other day without knowing anything about it

I played a solo/beginner/short (4 waves + Patriarch) game on Offices.

Digging the class system, the feel of the weapons, the atmosphere, and the stage layout - I'm sure playing solo made things worse, but I had a lot more worrying to do about whether or not I had to keep checking my back.

I agree with Ikuu that the game could use more polish - not to nitpick, but there's something about the HUD and the menus/fonts the game uses that breaks me out of the atmosphere.

I wish the Merchant would shut up during the rounds.

I did see a few clipping glitches - one where in the last round, the guy with the spinning spike things was trying to get through a door I 100% welded, and his head and weapons kept poking through the door as he hit it. So I knew he was coming and kept checking as I wiped out the 24 other Specimen in the level, and then I just had to stand there and wait for him to bust through. Kind of ruined the surprise.

Don't regret the purchase at all, though - it's fun, it's got potential, and it'll keep me playing thanks to the class system.

It's going to be a mess trying to get a server for the next few days if there are 10k people trying to find games. Been playing some Normal Long games on my own and things can get pretty hectic, they need to make the vomit effect closer to the Boomer (visually) than some graphic in the middle of the screen.

That's a ton of first day buyers. Yeah, it's pretty much impossible to find a game online right now. I've been playing offline and having a good deal of fun but the boss mobs usually kick my ass on the final round.

Press Q.

I love how you can customize the rounds, turn on Sandbox and make the game spawn 400 of whatever you want each round :lol

Very fun game! We totally got swarmed on the 4th wave, one guy left had to kill like 90 enemies. It did not end well.

I still gotta understand most of the perk stuff, but I did upgrade a level for the support one...or something. Still, a door busting open with tons of enemies and you being the only one left is crazy.

I finally got in a server, pretty damn awesome game. I'm trying to be a medic, but it is hard as hell healing people because everyone is running around frantically. It took me like 30 minutes to figure out that you are trying to get to the next weapon store each wave.

I'm having a lot of problems connecting to game myself. What I did it just create a "listen" server and people joined just fine. This game is awesome. Kind of what I expected L4D to be when I first hear about it.

Patriarch is ridiculous. I'm convinced you have to have higher level perks to beat him.
we beat him in just a few seconds last night. I'm not sure what weapons the other guys had, but I blew myself up with the LAW right on him to achieve this.

Clocked up 7.5 hours on this today and have been really enjoying it. All of the weapons feel really good and I appreciate the lack of crosshair. The perk system is a great incentive to keep playing. I've been mainly focusing on the Sharpshooter perk and I'm not even half way to level 3. Have been mostly playing Skilled/Hard difficulty and we made it to the Patriarch a few times, but he pretty much slaughtered us.

I think if everyone buys either the Hunting Shotgun or the LAW it's possible with lower level perks.

I hope my laptop can run this.

AMD Turion 64 X2 Dual-Core Mobile 2,20 GHz

You serious?

It's a 5 year old engine. I believe your specs are well over the requirement... or recommended.

Have you tried any source engine games? It should run better than them.

Okay, I had no idea that this game was still running on Unreal engine (2?) :lol I remember playing some Killing Floor Unreal mod back in the 2004 and it was fun.

I'm going to buy this sucker.

This is a cool game and I just love the perks. I just leveled up my commando perk and now I can see the health of my enemies.

This game is absolutely brutal. Even on normal.

I hosted a listen server and normal difficulty, long campaign length. We only only made it to the 7/10 wave on most maps before being overwhelmed.

This game is a lot of fn.

Yeah, I thought I was doing fine one level, then those fleshpounds (or whatever it is with the chainsaw hands or something, came and just killed me in like one second.

The patriarch seems to be ridiculously difficult even on normal. Maybe his hp scales, but even with a team of 6 we keep dying. Rockets didn't seem to do much and the problem is, once he runs away he'll regenerate some/all of his hp and it's hard to kill him before he does.

I only had a quick single player game this morning, but can someone explain to me how you find the trader? I was told to just follow "the arrow", but I couldn't see one.

Do you guys think this game would run well on a 1.7 ghz P4 with 512MB RAM and a geforce 6200? I doubt it even tought i am above the minimum requirements somehow.

Nade spamming and spreading out seems to work for those. It's a bit hard to pull off with all the other mutants in the area though.

You have to be sure everyone is prepared before attacking them. If you just start shooting at it with your pistol or whatever, it will turn red and likely kill you in 1 or 2 hits. The best way to take care of them is as quickly as possible, by standing quite a bit back and grenading them or using some other high damage weapon. A couple of direct grenade hits should kill it. Don't bother shooting it with weak weapons as that will just keep it in it's red state, which makes it run faster than you. When it's red, it should go back to yellow fairly quickly if you run away and don't shoot at it.

I believe he has 3 vials of health, so one tactic might be to wear him down until he disappears to heal 3 times, and then go all out. Would probably be difficult considering how much damage he does. However, with 6 people shooting at it with rockets and grenades, it might be possible to kill it before it heals. I haven't actually verified how effective any of these methods are yet though.

There's an arrow in the top left of the HUD with the distance in metres to the trader. There's also a red trail, but that only appears after you kill each wave of zombies, so the first wave you have to survive with just your knife and pistol. You can only access the trader in between each wave for a limited time. Also, check in options in case you have turned it off.
