Killzone 3 "open beta" February 3rd to 15

playing botzone please patch out these fucking retarded death moans

- i feel like the game is very 'slidey' compared to the closed beta. the sticks feel very loose, maybe it's because i have been on the 360 pad a lot lately ...
 
Since the servers are down, I've been playing the maximum amount of bots on elite. Its challenging and fun. It's kinda neat how they run about in packs.
 
Been having a great time so far. Hopefully they fix there server issues so i can play online more. Some of these post with people crying are hilarious to read though. lol

Sooo... Are we going back to KZ2? GAFe?

Well I like the new guns, a lot. Don't know why I can't move the camera when downed, and where is the six-axis aiming is when sniping?

I can't really judge yet until I play the MP, errors every time.

Probably got removed because the Move doesn't have a sixaxis, right?

Nothing is fixed. The framerate is all over the place. Around 20 to 25 most of the time in firefights or in broader areas like the snowfield. It's a joke.

Having a pretty good time in botzone, they have made some improvements. I would be a lot happier if player health was higher. You die so fast :(

The game really looks quite good and the aliasing has been improved.

This is definitely not an ADS-only shooter. Crouch and hip fire is the same as KZ2, very accurate.

It's hilarious to see they still don't get that tactical spawns are probably the worst idea ever in a FPS. See: CoD6/7's tactical insertions and people sitting there waiting for the person to respawn to stab them.

KZ2's tactical grenades was pure madness and this maps "tactical points" are just as bad. I have no clue WTF GG is thinking with that, but Tacticians could be better used for something than grenade spawns. :/ Maybe copy Battlefield's squad spawn system for them. Or just scrap them. :/
 
The tactical spawns wouldn't be so terrible if you could spawn on your squad leader, using him as a mobile spawnpoint. Now there is a lot of running to objectives with your character that has the lungs of an asthmatic child, as someone said before.

Spawn grenades from KZ2 were a major part to Warzone, it kept the pacing while allowin each section of the map able to be used for a purpose.

At it's finest spawn grenades created a proxy battle outside of the objectives for territory and advantageous ground. The problem was there was no enforcement of good placement and conversely no penalty for bad placement out side of getting camped. Something most of the Tacs in KZ2 could care less about. The right way would be to refine the dynamic spawn system to have penalties for the tac for bad placement or a warning for players spawning into hostile territory.

Instead we get TSP which telegraph where you will spawn. Even better there is no way to know when a tac is taking one over if you are not a tactician.

the original spawn system would have worked. Silly idea to have taken it out. Maybe we're too dumb to know how to use it?
 
What's this wall hack or w/e people are talking about?

And yeah, spawning on partners/squad leaders is sorely needed. The spawns as they are become too easy to camp at times.

Where are the squad members icons on the top of the screen anyway? They were useful for knowing at a glance which classes your squad-mates are using.

Instead of fixing them, they just scrapped them. There should have been an in-game tutorial that you had to complete before you could use them.

The game is very straining on my eyes and it is the same problem I had with KZ2. I don't know if it's the frame-rate or the slight motion-blur when you turn, but my eyes just hurt after playing for 10 minutes.

For the record I never have such a problem with any other FPS. This was so bad for me in KZ2 I had to sell it.

BTW is the navigation controller necessary if I played with my Move? There doesnt seem to be a way to use the DS3 with the Move is there? If not, combined with my eye problem I might have to skip KZ3 too...

You can, but you can't zoom with L1, it's stuck on L2 (I guess the game assumes you're using a nav). Hopefully they patch this, as it's pretty irritating. I reeeeally hate the waggle move for a melee kill. Please let me assign it to a button. Full button mapping would be even better.

I've taken to being an Infiltrator without using my disguise just for a bit of a challenge. Either I am totally awesome (which I am not) or a lot of other players are horrendously shit. Sometimes I enter a room and drop four guys without taking a hit.

I think its really nice when people walk around in a nice close knit group. Its fun to take them out one by one and then go in for the brutal melee on the last one.
 
I try not to hyper bole but those death screams are the worst I've ever heard. It sounds like they dubbed them in from an old japanese martial arts movie :lol
 
I wish the health system was like it is in the bots. Much less than the online. But the online isn't as weak as COD game but it isn't as strong as KZ2, they should have just went all out.

exactly what i was saying. what is the purpose of squads now besides the blue dots and using it to party up? they could at least restrict voice to squads so i wouldnt have to mute a dozen guys each match.

I don't want that crap in the middle of the screen like before. They should have just stolen my HUD I worked up a while ago.

I can never understand why FPSs on consoles don't give you full button mapping. Sounds like I would hate the current config too. Will try the Move again tonight. Thanks!

It seems people are never happy.
I am disappointed with the changes as well, but I know the campaign for one is going to be pretty spectacular. I think the multiplayer is going to suck so much is because Guerilla lost some of their designers that worked on KZ2 if I'm not mistaken. But I still apprecaite the technical feats they're achieving.
100% maxed out the processor or some shit?
all 3 times the draw distance and polys or something. they're really working the PS3 for all it's got.

Yes also now that I've made this post I'd like to say the stamina definitely needs to be increased. Especially if they're really not going to include the old way, being spawn grenades in, they need to up the amount you can run. It's super frustrating.
