Killzone 3 "open beta" February 3rd to 15

I played it this morning and loved it-and tonight I want to break my fucking controller in two. I'm emptying tons of bullets into these fuckers and they're not dying. I can't take this shit. Is anyone else experiencing awful lag?

Me and my friend (Minamu) played a bit yesterday and god now it really is FUN to play compared to KZ2´s clumpsy controls!
The controls are perfect!
Cant wait for the game to be released now!

I think the controls are great at 90 percent sensitivity with DS3.The only difference to me is way less lag allowing me to actually zoom and hit something.

No it's not. You need to get your eyes fixed. They "fixed" it from the beta but it's still pretty terrible. It still affects gameplay a lot.

They didnt ignore everything. I like the way the "wall hack" works now. An they made the tactician a lot better to play with (just by adding the ISA rifle).



Also, I dont see how anybody can RAISE the sensitivity. They upped it from the beta. 30% here is a lot higher than it was in the beta. How some of you even playing at 90% baffles me.

No it's not and I wouldn't even start arguing about that. You just hate the game and looking for reasons to not enjoy this.
 
I liked it, but I only played with bots. Couldn't connect to anything. It just loaded and then quit over and over again.

It chugged quite a lot during a maxed out bot match. Ten characters on screen with grenades, turrets and machine guns wrecking havoc + the snow particles made slow down a couple of times. Still impressive though, love the art.

Can anyone tell me if Killzone 2 has a similar control scheme to CoD / KZ3's Alternative? I played the PSN demo and it was really akward. Press stick to aim down sights? What the hell? :)

Well, the Digital Foundry article should back this claim up. I'm actually enjoying the game ALOT more than the beta. The 1st beta's framerate was unplayable.
They at least made the game somewhat enjoyable to play now.

Online is where the problems start showing up a lot more. Dont base the online from the bot matches.
 
Okay decided to play some more despite the freezing earlier and thought I'd try to use medic/tactician and not the infiltrator. No freezes and the framerate didn't bog down as often. Maybe there is a bug with the infiltrator.

Yeah you can change it to "alternative" in the options. Or is it "alternate", something like that.

I'm wondering if you can do the same thing in KZ2. Haven't played the complete game, just the demo, and I couldn't change it.

You can do it in KZ2 also
 
Played it...

Looks and sounds great.

Plays much better than KZ2.

But fucking hell...I can't get used to the PS3 pad for FPS's.
 
Better than the beta just for the improved framerate.

Some of the decisions are still frustrating but I managed to have fun in the one game I got in tonight against Full Recovery's team.

We'll see how it goes from here.

Well, it has better framerate than KZ2 due to lack of major clusterfucks.
 
Yeah, the melee is really annoying. That is the one thing about call of duty I wish they didn't attempt to copy. Close quarter combat with guns is pointless when guys can run towards you and stab you or snap your neck from a sizable distance.

yeah but if you stab people it makes you more vulnerable. you get locked into that long animation and i've killed people already in the few games i played tonight who were midway through knifing someone lol.
 
I wish bots we're taking more seriously in games, I would love it they a had ladder that you could work your way up fighting bots on multi-player maps, kind of like Unreal Tournament.

It's an OK solution if you're going to have OHK melee but the better solution is not to have OHK melee in the first place...

also putting lunge on it seems unnecessary

Yes. Both take some getting used to. You can definitely sense that it's running at a lower resolution in 3D, but it still looks cool. There was some major slowdown at times but I'm still impressed with how it looks in 3D. Move support works well, too. I've never played an FPS with motion controls so there was a learning curve but eventually I felt like I had an advantage especially if you're covering a small area like a door or a hallway. I'm really looking forward to trying out that gun attachment thing. Combining both 3D and move was certainly an experience I've never had. It has its downsides but it's worth giving a try if you have the hardware.
 
This game is awesome. Much improved upon KZ2 in basically every way. You can tell who the KZ2 vets are... kids running around going 50-7 and shit lol. I'm happy to go like 20-20 or something :)
 
OMG I so love the LS57. It is my new favorite SMG EVER. And quite possibly my favorite overall firearm in a game!

Edit: @ Daxter- Not at all. I like it alot, but I've discovered that if a game has bots, I'll play that more than online unless I can get in a group with some gaffers.

I owned everybody with a shotgun yesterday. One shot kill on close-middle distance. I think you just suck.
 
Played about 45 minutes of this morning and enjoyed it 100x more than I was yesterday. I put my sensitivity down from 50 to 30% and played a lot slower. And I reaped the rewards, getting 12k xp from one game and going 41/18. Felt good man.

yeah, you certainly suck at this game. it's a shame that I don't have a recording device for consoles. How you can't kill everyone with this overpowered shotgun is beyond me. You must aim for tips of their boots or something.

Even the shotgun pistol is a beast. One shot kills if you line up your shot properly.
 
Look like spawn neutralize time is now a lot faster than last beta, about as fast as respawn time. Spawn capture time still depends upon the leveled up ability. So its not like they didn't listen to what we were saying. Now how about those health and stamina meters GG?

There's no friendly fire in kz3 (un)fortunately.
 
So I've been thinking and I think all they need to do to make this game 100% better for both new players and KZ2 vets alike is:

  • Increase player health by about 50%
  • Increase sprint stamina - double it?
  • Add at least three or four more capturable bases and decrease the time taken to capture each one
  • Increase time taken to aim down sights with every gun. Make the LMG take much longer to ADS with than with any other gun

I really think that's all that needed (looking at the mechanics of the game rather than the technical aspects) to make this a very, very good multiplayer. Even better is that I feel this is very doable in a patch, I just hope that if they do implement any of these changes it will be pre-release or else we'll have the KZ2 problem of people getting used to things and then GG changing them.
 
Also wtf is up with the matchmaking? Me and my friend got put in a 2v6 match and we didn't get any teammates the whole time. Sad if this is the final product.

It actually takes very little time already once you have upgraded. Well, to neutralize them, which is all you need to be fast at. I think that's perfect as it is.

I have to admit that I don't play tactician that much any more so I was just going by what I've read really. But if that isn't a problem then well done GG. Do you agree with my other points though, and that there should be a few more bases?

dude this is 2011. There is no final product anymore. This is just version 1.0 and 1.1 can be a release day patch.

btw on a second thought if you get a hitmarker and people don't die this might be really lag, because I get this when I'm disconnected from the server in BFBC. I can run out, shoot frozen people, get hitmarkers from that. Might be the case in KZ3.
