Killzone 3 "open beta" February 3rd to 15

I was very supportive until i realised i was being lied to. I asked motherh if there was going to be another beta and he flat out said no, now look. My point is GG has a tendency to lie about their games and it's support. They claimed they listen to the fans, i don't know how many times. It's like the more they say it the farther it is from what the fans want.

KZ2 with it's flaws is an upgrade compared to this game. Not 'cause of the gameplay changes, but the design flaws in the new changes. It doesn't feel right, it doesn't play right, it's just all wrong. Really disapointed the only thing the Devs has say about it are lies... Stop chasing COD's sales. Where's the passion in creating a sound product based off a Devs vision? What's with this cookie cutter mindset this gen?

Can't really get into it because I'm currently too used to BC2, but I don't really see much that is worse than KZ2.

I'm also under the impression that the Infiltrator is more annoying than the Saboteur. It seems the Infiltrator is much better disguised. A Saboteur could only fool you from quite a distance... a bit closer and you'd see the fucker was an enemy. However it could be because I am not 'used' to the new graphics yet and simply not able to distinguish them.

Personally I really like KZ3 so far. I played a few hours today and really got that KZ feeling again. I do agree with some of the points mentioned by others. You do miss the recoil and the health kind of sucks. I'm also not too happy with the unlock system.

However for me this game still feels more like a KZ game then a COD game. But I am a bit afraid it won't be as good as Killzone 2 was. Still a buy for me though.

Fake edit: I am getting sick of this map though. Snow is nice and all.... but after a game or 20 I am getting snowblind. Bright snow, bright lights... sometimes I need fucking sunglasses to see anything.

One thing that is annoying though about move is that it kills part of the immersion because of how the weapon is animated and how the player moves and the yellow crosshair. Game is definitly prettier with DSII. But yeah, whatever...

"redefine other means of achievement." Uh... getting 3-5-8 kills is an achievement. None of this Call of Duty "LOL CHOPPER GUNNER WHORING" bullshit here, dude. If you want that, go back to Call of Duty.
Dude, i have never owned a COD game in my life nor have i ever played one for more than a few minutes. What i meant was make them more logical if you must have them in the game. Ok make them like mini achievements, sort of like UC2 if you've played the MP. In that game you get a score mutiplier for killing an enemy with a primary, secondary, and a explosive before a single death. If it were more like that atleast you could say it was earned to have increased bullet damage. I mean "walk for 30m to achieve silent footsteps"?! WTF?!

Do the gamma settings seem too low in this game for anyone else or is it just my setup? I've tried turning deep color on/off to see if that's the issue even though all my equipment supports it. It doesn't seem to make a significant difference.

Random nitpick: I can't stand the new menu. KZ2 menu > KZ3. :P

This makes no sense. Yea like a dev has to tell everyone their plans and spoil surprises.

Technically they say no since if they say "no comment " or something, it's way too obvious what you want to know, it's coming thus bs speculation/rumors begin.

Some advice, stop being a man baby.

I fixed it when I switched RGB to limited.

I am quite sure that one is gone, based on the fact that I never got it, it doesn't show up in yout statistics screen as a ribon and silent footsteps are one of the abilities avalible to everyone upon start of the game

so what the hell are you playing to be complaing about that one?
unless I missed something

Yea, i was...But the point was to point out they lie about listening to the fans. I mean don't say shit if you don't plan on making changes.

Thpught you had to be at a certain level to even activate it...

never got it in botzone either and the thing is suposed to have everything unlocked

you do get silent footsteps as an ability at level 10 or something iirc

Controls seem a lot better but still crappy overall to me. Not feeling the map either. There seems to be a lot more lag than I ever saw in KZ2 as well. Sometimes I get shotgunned or knifed out of nowhere then the guy lags away. Probably just going to Gamefly this.

Yeah, that was the first thing I tried. And although I can just see the helghast symbol now, some of the indoor area's still appear to be way too dark. The gamma and contrast just don't seem quite right in this game.... Ah well, maybe it is just me. Thanks though.

from the article:
On what difficulty level did he play on? But about 4-5 hours for a single player campaign in Killzone 3 sounds fine with me. I will probably beat the game 2 times (i assume that beating the game on the hardest difficulty level is a trophy like it was in Killzone 2).

I will also play multiplayer much more. I played Killzone 2 for about 390 hours online, and maybe i will play Killzone 3 more, i will see what happeneds :)

I was going to again reiterate to the haters that this is beta.. but then I remembered reading that this game has actually gone gold... so now I'm confused.

Depends what they are looking for in the open beta. If its about networking (MP) then going gold has nothing to do with it.

I think the beta is about network not about making drastic gameplay changes.

Have you even played it?

Yeah. Unless the code is more than a month old, this is basically what we're getting on the disc minus a patch.

I actually enjoyed the few matches I was in, not as much as KZ2 but good enough for me.

That's irrelevant. They could make a day one patch to tweak a lot of stuff like player run/sprint speed, health levels, timing of stuff, lag... Its MP that has a lot of the issues people complain about, so no worry about not taking the game online there.

Doesn't make it a demo. They're testing servers, finding connection problems and fixing matchmaking for day one patch.

So let me get this straight... People actually LIKED the laggy/slow/heavy/mushy/whateverthefuckyouwanttocallit feel of Killzone 2? The controls alone for KZ2 is what put off me and most of my friends. It felt TERRIBLE and was very detrimental to an otherwise awesome game. I still completed the game and enjoyed it, but c'mon. This isn't real life. It's a game. I don't want aiming to be a chore. Too "twitchy"? Give me a fucking break.

CoD is successful because it's accessible. In other words, aiming doesn't feel like you're trying to prod cattle with a 10 foot pole. Most people don't give a damn if that's not realistic. Most people believe it still has the best "feel" of just about any console FPS. And I agree.

Killzone 2: "waaaahhhhh the controls are too mushy"

*Guerrilla fixes control issues*

Killzone 3: "WTF WHY DID YOU CHANGE THE CONTROLS????"

For fucks sake. I REALLY commend these devs for having to put up with such garbage.

They listened to their fans, they just didn't listen to you. People wanted sharper controls and a less weighty feel - I mean, they obviously did. It was a heated discussion long after the game came out.

GG's problem isn't because of their inability to listen to feedback - in fact, it may be precisely the contrary.

Some of you need to stop acting like you're entitled to something, Jesus.

Tempy, are you guys aware that when using Move+DS3 (instead of a nav), swapping L1 and L2 doesn't work (I can't zoom with L1 no matter the setting)? Bug or intended?

It doesn't work cos that option refers to when using the "full" DualShock 3 to play. When using the Move, what you set there is ignored even if you use the DS3 as a Navi.

Would be nice to be able to swap when using it as a Navi substitue tho, I agree.

Another nice thing they could implement fairly easy is having the Move sphere lit up red or blu depending on your faction.

Red: Helghast
Blu: ISA scum

Easier to recall which side you are on, especially if you have turned off the voices.

Yeah, garbage like you. Tell you what, when Gears 3 comes out lets make sure its a first person shooter, because CoD's an FPS. And lets make sure it has perks, because CoD has perks. It also needs unlockable weapons and ranks too, right? Because CoD has it AND EVERY FUCKING GAME HAS TO BE JUST LIKE CoD, AMIRITE!?

Because God forbid any game not be just like CoD. God forbid if a game tries to incorporate heavy controls to add immersion and difficulty. God forbid anybody have to learn a new control scheme that differs from their precious CoD. Because it's easier to bitch about what a game isn't, then to appreciate what a game is.

The difference is every Wii owner has a Wii-mote.

Say if GG didn't put that disclaimer there and someone plays without the strap, hits something, breaks it and then sues. Guess who is getting paid? The idiot that decided not put on a strap.

Its just like the infamous McD's lawsuit where the women sued for, essentially, her coffee being too hot and she got millions out of it. All because there was no warning on the label.

Just deal with it, its like 10 seconds long.

every Move compatible game has to have that warning just like every Wii mote compatible game
Personally, I think the game should be intelligent enough to show the message only when a Move controller is connected. But that's just me.

deal with it, etc. etc.

A "unique" flaw is still a flaw. The input lag was nuts, the controls were flawed.

what if i want to turn on my Move controller while playing the game? should the game stop and display the warnings?

FWIW, you can skip the last few secs of it by tapping X (or any button I believe). Basically the part when the PS Eye starts to appear below the screen.

Glad most of the complaints are the same regurgitated whining from the closed beta and that the a lot of the real problems have been addressed.

Should have some quality time with the new beta this weekend.
