Killzone 3 "open beta" February 3rd to 15

Gotta say, I'm none too impressed with the Beta, and I liked KZ2.

Just doesn't stand out to me, and infiltrator class is annoying as hell.

infiltrator is cannon fodder. Very very easy to spot.

Well yes I mostly play tactician, but other than that if you put your cursor on them it turns red. Also I'm always keeping an eye on the radar and if I dont see a green dot near me I spray the hell out of anyone near me. No friendly fire so... no reason not to do it.

I finally got a good couple hours without any disconnects or bugs, I love it. Move controls are PERFECT. It's so precise, I love taking out snipers from across the map with my silenced assault rifle.

Firstly, you still have to take a second to aim and for that cursor to go red, in that time they can kill you fairly easily, and secondly, shooting everything that moves just gives your own position away on the radar so isn't exactly a healthy tactic.

Infiltrators are only easy to deal with when you're a Tac, otherwise it's a cheap ass class, just like many or most in the game. Is there not a mode that just allows for non class based gunplay? No skills, just weapon load out. I'd love that...

That doesn't make it any less annoying.

Not sure how you can defend an ability that encourages the other team to shoot at everyone they see. Seems broken to me

The + or ++ skill actually makes the cursor green unless they're very close to you. That is to say at 15+ feet a disguised enemy will actually target green, so there is no way to tell w/o blind firing on everyone.

Wow, looks damn accurate then! I thought the cursor was sticking to opponents but I guess it was just a combination of good Move implementation and a good player. Can't believe how good that looks actually.
He's putting almost an entire clip into one guy, I don't play that way :( Heck I don't even get the time to shoot for that long unless I drop a surprise attack onto someone.

Bilbo just posted that the leaderboards reset every month, making no mention of a lifetime persistent one.

Now, I don't care about leaderboards unless they pertain to a clan, though I prefer other kinds of status than being high up on a board from playing lots of games, so I don't really pay any attention to them but doesnt this make them redundant? Isn't the point of a leaderboard to show off how much "better" you are than everyone else? I do t see the point if that work and that accomplishment is wiped each month.

I'm not just trying to rag on everything, I genuinely don't get this.
I don't get it. Why not just have the ability to sort by week/month/lifetime?

I absolutely agree with this, the infiltrator is too prevalent. Spamming everyone who comes your way really can screw up the game for multiple reasons.

I'm not posting links, but it is out there, whole game too. So, avoid youtube videos if you don't want to get spoiled.
hmmm,
Thanks anyway.
The only youtube one i've seen is that bloody IGN one from last year.
Need to put my thinking cap on,lol

Hey guys, keep on the lookout for spoilers, it's looking like the game was leaked. Saw the whole intro already.
The intro was great, but I'm on campaign blackout till release now.
@Linconan: I'll PM the vid address to you

10 days in of playing Botzone every day and still loving the crap out of this game. That's with only one level. IMO that's a good sign for me.

The SP demo is equally addictive. They really nailed the FPS blockbuster experience in my opinion. Really solid framerate (very important), awesome Move enabled controls, stunning graphics, great AI and some fun cut-scenes (wish all could be skipped but I guess you have to look at them as loading screens, some you are able to skip and I take it that's because the next segment has been loaded already).

The wait is excruciating. I want this game now! :)

Is it really that hard to search for 'Killzone 3 intro' on youtube? First link. Jesus.

Pretty lame compared to the other two games to be honest.

You mean the gamespot one ?
I don't think thats the whole intro.

It doesn't end with the logo.

I think that a fourth TSP on the bridge directly above the one in the middle would be a great addition. To stop spawn camping you could spawn either on the bridge bit or the rooms on either end of it.

It needs at least one more; ISA always win.

A spawn in that location - along with the one beneath it and the one by the water - would benefit ISA far more than Helghast as ISA can get to it much faster and it would give them spawn point access to the Higg speaker drop off location.

The way the map is laid out I don't think changing up the TSAs alone will really solve the issue. The Higgs should have their main spawn on the dam and then thier S&D defend location should be moved to their current spawn location. The Higg speaker location could also be moved to the dam, The Dam TSA could be moved to the other room on the dam (the far right) and the middle TSA could just be moved to the opposite side of the wall it is currently against (to make it more exposed). This would even the map out a bit though the Higgs would have a lot more open space working against them. At least the location of spawns and objectives would be more evenly placed so that no one team has a distinct advantage.

Edit: I appreciate developers attempting to create asymmetrical maps for MP to make them a bit more visually appealing, however if it comes at the cost of balance then what is the point?

Hmmm might have just convinced me to cancel my preorder and just rent the game. I am pretty sure my ds3 won't be able to keep up with the precision of the move contols and I don't want to be at a disadvantage for not having one.

afaik move players play on their own server.

Just had the most epic match ever, just barely managed to win 4-3. Planted the last C4 on the last second... 54 kills, 24 assists, 17950XP.

And now the game crashed!

wait what, didnt they say in an interview that move enabled players would only be able to play against other move players? i swear i saw it in a video.
They said that they were considering it but ended up not going through with it. They said they tried to make both control schemes balanced but I have a feeling that Sony wouldn't let them do it. It would take a long time for Move players to find a game and if they do have an advantage over DS3 players Sony wants that to be apparent so that people buy Move.

Finally got into a game. How can you tell if someone is a spy? Very annoying to have friendly looking people kill me. :/
Crosshairs turn red
Name changes color
They have unlimited sprint
It's common to see them disguised and among their teammates
Tactician can spot and mark them
Red dot on radar.

It's moments like these that show how great the game can be, but then times like when the game crashes ruin all the hope I can muster up for it. Hopefully the full game is more consistent

Infiltrator has never been a problem to me. If anything its the Marksman. But then again, it makes sense. Every class has a counter. And the team with most balanced team will always have the advantage.

I am really starting to get in groove with this MP.
