Killzone: Shadow Fall - actors and in-game models revealed

Man, I'm excited for this but I finally started KZ3 today and I'm not enjoying this nearly as much as I enjoyed 2 when it came out. Maybe it's because I'm older now, but the writing and acting is pretty bad. I also miss the heavy feel, this one feels like I'm the flash when I'm running around. Not a fan. :/ I'll stick with it and finish the campaign, but I'm hoping this is more KZ2 than 3.

Finish at least to see the wtfrack ending, it really is a poorer game compared to KZ2..i loved that game.

If only they spent half that effort on scripting the games.

I like Killzone but the stories are such a wasted opportunity, especially Killzone 3.

Visari's daughter confirmed ?

I really wanted to see that. Visari's daughter, the most formidible strike team leader in the empire, returning from war in the polar regions to take her unforgiving revenge.

Just once I would like an unapologetic Helghan character instead of this "Vekta is always on the side of right" business.

How could it be Visari's daughter if she already was shown as a young woman in KZ3, a story set 30 years prior to SF?

I like the helghast sniper... weird that I find her ugly and attractive at the same time. That's probably really hard to do. Good job.

Echo's sniper rifle reminds me of the Marksman from Resistance 3.

I don't think she is. She seems like she's late-20s or so, born after the destruction of Helghan. I highly suspect that her and Kellan will team up.

They did a good job of not making her a stereotypical hot female character. She's not unatteactive (that would be tough to do with the actress that plays her) but she definitely looks battle hardened, not squeaky clean like most women in games do.

Exactly. People ought to 'think' a touch more before speculating. It could be that she is a member of Visari's bloodline or someone with whom the player can later form a truce with.

So wait, are you gonna spend half the game playing as the Helghast character too? It'd be cool if they actually did a KZ game with a story showing both perspectives.

The actress is hot, no doubt...

Makes me wonder if they will ever do anything with
the capsule
at the end of KZ3.

I was one of the crazies who bought into the
Visari was a double
theory.

I wonder if she's part of a Helghast task force that's chasing down the same terrorists as the VSA to try to avoid another full war. I could see there being a generational divide among the Helghast, older people who remember the destruction of Helghan well and want revenge versus a younger generation who wants to prove the Helghast's worth to the people of Vektan in order to maintain peace.

I also suspect she may be a love interest and the game winds up as something of a Romeo and Juliet story.

I think we have a super sexy coming to terms sniper nest love scene in store for us... enemy at the gates style. Hawt hawt hawt....

Models look amazing. Always one of GGs strong points.

I think it would be especially awesome if Echo was not a love interest. Make her character arc about something more interesting.

I dunno... there's an opportunity to do a Romeo & Juliet on the Battlefield kind of thing here. Could be interesting.

I noticed he said "in-game" rather than "in-engine"...makes a pretty big difference.

If it's truly in-game, then this is pretty incredible for a launch title. These models are of similar quality to the Helghast models that they've showcased in stills but haven't been witnessed in action yet.

I really can't wait to see the near-final build of this title...it should look dramatically better if they are telling the truth regarding the character models.

Sure, but there's also the opportunity to make her into an awkward Helghast girlfriend, bound to execute lame and awkward romantic cliches. This would leave her character uninteresting and largely defined to the player in terms of her affection for the protagonist. Fuck all that. Make a female lead that isn't interested in the male lead. Make them both awesome and tell a great story.

Her mother?

I think a badass female villain with strong motivation is good enough. No need for her to team up with the good guys.

What the fuck's a Shakespeare?

Haha! Good reference right there.

Truth be told, I was going to mention the Romeo and Juliet angle as well but it given how predictable that is it'll be interesting if they delve into the romance of it all. Still it'll be a feel good kind of ending. TLoU has ruined me.

Okay, so here is the question I was pensive about (racial insensitivity): Why do african american skin rendering work better than while trying to emulate other races? I genuinely curious as to how realistic black characters in general can look in terms of skin shader and lighting. It hit me while playing TLoU and looking at
Henry and Sam
. The same can be said about David Harewood's digital duplicate. It's like a gestalt of multiple rendering processes that work so well for that skin type.

Also:

I think the one difference between the two models in these stills at least is the shape of the scarf. The new one looks to adhere to the silhouette of Helghast sniper whereas the old one acts like regular fabric:

While they both look great and yet remain to be finished this post is so full of it...

Just a random theory, darker skin covers up facial creaks and blemishes easier. So lighter tones, really just contrast them more so they more easily showcase how we are not quite there yet.

Looking at Echo, she'd make one hell of a Sith.

My version:

That is a part of it no doubt but it's the sub surface scattering and oiliness of the skin of africans are more realistically rendered lending a greater overall realism. It's as if the current renderer has yet to fully mimic that success with other less pigmented skin types.

i really cant wait for this game one of the three games im looking forward to when the PlayStation 4 comes out graphics look great just makes me want to pick this game up today and play it

We can clearly see those models are different from the ones shown on the video (the male model).

I want to believe, but after 2005, I dont think I can :/

Even the shape of the head is much different, its not as strong as the model....I do Zbrush, and that seems like it just came out of Zbrush (with bazillions of tris)...I dont believe...thats....Ingame...model :/

I don't know why you would expect a feel good ending out of a series whose last game has the player accidentally commit genocide at the end.

Aye, you've got a point there. Surprisingly, I somehow managed to forget that bit. Come to think of it, both KZ2 and 3 had a lack of "feel good" ending. That makes me wonder even more about the possibility of a Romeo & Juliet-esque angle.

Not expecting much honestly. They could get the greatest actors in the world but if they still have the atrociously bad dialog like they had in the previous games, these actors won't have much to work with. It's as if an angry 12 year old wrote for them.

The writing in the original Killzone I believe was pretty good for most part. All of Gregor Hakha's lines were written well too. From there the writing appears have become progressively worse.

This speech from Killzone 3 is so cringe worthy
