Killzone: Shadow Fall - actors and in-game models revealed

bomb was awesome. My favorite was dropping the speaker at a set location, while it blared ISA or Helghan propaganda...

like... Stalker? Dude, Stalker is AMAZING.

One of the most boring FPS's I have played. I actually liked Metro a lot more. I think Crysis (1 and Warhead) and Halo got open levels totally right

So if we are to go by what GG has said on the previous models shown (echo, sinclair) on how they are the updated in-game models, then this must be the updated Lucas model

Because the e3 version looked kinda rough:

Did they say when we get the single player trailer? I hope they improve the story. Can't wait to see it.

they did not... but from now to launch they will have to show at least the Single Player Trailer and the Launch trailer... there are those two Sony Asia Events Happening the early September one and TGS so we might see it then

I'm sure you're pretty freaking pumped indeed. I am getting there, slowly. I just am so used to launch games sucking or being content-deprived or having some bugs or rushed gameplay elements that I tend not to get my hopes up :P

Looking forward to killing some f00s though on Killzone Shadow Fall multiplayer.
SF has actually been in development (concept stages) since before KZ3 came out so I don't think it'll have the same rushed launch game feel like other games will, especially since the PS4 was probably monstrously easier to learn than the PS3 was.

So if we are to go by what GG has said on the previous models shown (echo, sinclair) on how they are the updated in-game models, then this must be the updated Lucas model

Really? Where and when did they say that these character renders are the actual updated in-game models?

I'd be thrilled for this to be true!

In the February tech presentations and at E3. You can seem them in action in the Gamescom footage. Every model before GC was all placeholder.

hmm I am really looking forward to comparing the final ver with the e3 and feb versions :O
Me too. I'll be making serious use of the PS4 screenshot/video features for that.

GC footage is all multiplayer isn't it?

I'm not sure the models have quite the amount of detail as the renders here. Maybe single player can pull it off?

Those renders are just highest-quality-possible models. I wouldn't expect them during actual gameplay. The helghast don't look as good either.

Correct, only if you get really close:

Hey, i'm no helghast fanboy!

It's getting quite late, so can't be bothered to make more for now. Oh well; there's also an OT thread at some point who'll need it.

thanks mate... good night... and yet again thanks for the hard work

Definitely place holder. That screen is going to haunt this game forever. I'm going to try to take a good comparison of that when I get the game.
when you say place holder do you mean that the graphical fidelity of the model in the final product will be better or will this design model be replaced completely (as in the final game will not have those character designs

Think I'll use Lucas for a bit. Definitely my most anticipated launch title.

The character model was a pre-alpha placeholder from ~8 months ago. That screenshot is this game's Wallguy moment.

so will the final character of the same design aesthetics/style? (not graphic quality)

gotta be quick here on GAF lol... there is still this cool one

I tend to focus on the quality over the length. I just hope it's a fun and entertaining campaign.

I agree quality is a given... I hope the use their lore potential to the fullest while keeping the game fun

I was originally thinking BF4 would be what I picked up at launch, but I'm going this route now, looks great and I've really liked what I've heard with the MP so far.

I think everything in that screen shot is place holder. They really never should have released that shot.

you guys are right. Out of all the Sony devs, GG seems to be the only one releasing screen shots of pre-alpha build. SCEJ didn't release pre alpha shots for Knack, Evolution has just started releasing pre alpha gameplay for DriveClub. Sucker Punch is ok since their renderer is finished :P

Those single model shots are probably akin to photo mode in GT6. I'd be very impressed if they get everything on that level in the game.

The IQ in those renders is almost photo realistic. If it's possible for me to see this really close during gameplay, I'll still be blown away. I might find myself standing still and staring at NPCs through-out the game.

They kind of remind me of the first Gears of War screenshot I ever saw. I was blown away by the IQ I saw. The actual game never lived up to this though:

Same style, just not early PS3 level in quality.

They showed a side by side of these models with the February demo and explained these are their updated in-game models. I didn't believe it at first but after seeing the multiplayer build at Gamescom, it's much easier to take those statements at face value.

Actually Knack has shown a lot of pre alpha (and probably alpha) stuff. It is mainly just that they made sure to only show extremely polished stuff and not the stuff that still needs work. What GG has done reminds me a bit of what Bungie did with Halo 3 and Reach.

Does it bother anyone else every time they see bullets in a game like this?

Its like the friggin 24th or 25th Century. Mankind has mastered intergalactic star travel.Technology is far beyond our own time.

SO WHY THE HELL DO THEY STILL USE GUNS WITH BULLETS?!?!?! Where are the plasma rifles? IT just seems ridiuclous seeing bullets in all these sci-fi shooters.

ITs like a modern day soldier using a ffriggin crossbow or a matchlock musket.

Oh well ....... at least they have a rail cannon gun in this one.

how do you know the future is PLASMA GUNS? Seriously to make such conjecture and compare it to a modern soldier using a crossbow is ridiculous as we have no idea what type of weapons technology will be popular in 300 years or 600 years. Current theoretical plasma weapons for handheld use have immeasurable amount of hurdles, some that may even be impossible to overcome in a portable fashion, and there's no guarantee that is the sci fi future weapon of choice. It may indeed still be bullets in highly specialized delivery systems.

Because people don't want pew pew guns like in Halo or other games that have plasma shit weapons.

Yeah, what the hell is up with the single player content being displayed?

Thus far we have only seen one full SP level at E3 and the brief prologue level shown at the PS4 unveil.

Why are they being to secretive and restrained with the campaign? Its really annoying!

I can understand not wanting to show off too much of the game, but COME ON! Give us something!

Bungie actually gave a very technical explanation of this phenomenon: By the 23rd century, technology will have advanced to the level where a glass of water is the ultimate weapon. You drink it, and all of your enemies die instantly. The military decided that was boring, so they went back to ballistics because they're more fun.

they also have electricity guns... radio active guns... nail guns and mechs it's just that Vekta and Helghan are newer colonies compared to Earth... they are not the main colony which still is Earth

just picture it as a colony in the "New world" aka Canada, etc... vs the more modern main empire Great Britain

In terms of in-game universe logic, cost-effectiveness no doubt.

In terms of gameplay, firing bullets just fucking feels better than shit laser weapons.

OK I was using plasma weapons as an example. That isn't the point! The point is simple:

IF you took the weapons of this game (which is set centuries from now) and juxtapoased them against our own current modern weapons, you'd see the difference is pretty minimal, at best. Regardless of how weapons technology evolves in the decades beyond, it is fairly obvious that in 300 or so years, the weapons would blow away our own. Especially when you consider that military technology is always the most advanced technology there is.

Final model will probably be similar in design just far higher quality.

GG have said they did it just becuase bullet based guns feel better and are more satisfying. There's also a rail gun revolver and pretty much when you have rail gun revolvers you're living in the future. The series has always had several unique experimental weapons on top of the standard guns.

because realistic laser etc weapons are boring as fuck and sci fi ones usually turn out to be worse than just using bullets
