Killzone: Shadow Fall to include 7 days of PS+ for free?

Yeah... but make it a sticker rather than part of the box art.

Including it is a great idea. I just think it messes up the box art.

Because it ruins the box art....

Here's without.

I won't quote everyone that's saying this but just hit up the minimal cover art thread and print it out. Someone is going to make one.

so i'll be getting an extra 21 days on top of my 12month card that comes with my kz bundle. i'll take it!

got a 30 day card in my gta 4 bundle im on right now.

Man, I really want this required PS+ shit to fall flat on its face for Sony (and I think it's currently a good service). But I really doubt it'll happen. It was only a matter of time for this shit to happen. Console gamers should have outright rejected the idea when MS first introduced it with the Xbox. PC gamers were smart enough to tell MS to fuck off and they dropped the fee.

This has to stack on top of existing subscriptions. Otherwise it'd be totally pointless. If every PS4 comes with a PS+ trial, and this code doesn't stack on top... then it would be pointless, as no one would be able to use it.

I'm subscribed until about mid 2015 anyway. And i never really play online multiplayer. I'll just be paying for the IGC and PS+ discounts.

Heard too many times that Sony would do this or do that because MS would do this or do that. I think anyone expecting the IGC to stop any time soon are in for a bit of an upset.

It's a major feature for not only the subscription but also the entire PlayStation brand. It's a differentiator and it is something that I think is pretty popular with the developers and publishers that puts games on it. Big games are only included once they are beyond the probable first 95% of their sales, so no real money lost, but DLC sales will spike, awareness of franchises will rise, which is great for when you are about to release another game.

Also great for the indies and other smaller titles to get a ton of exposure. People will play a PS+ game just because they didn't have to pay for it after the initial sub. They play games they would never play, see devs and franchises they would not have looked at.

Yep. I only bought Darksiders II because I played Darksiders on PS+.

Like I said, I think it's a good service at the moment. But I'm not going to jump on the bandwagon of converts that are suddenly cool with paying to access their own ISP.

And I fully believe that the more regular subscribers PS+ gets, the less Sony will try to keep it awesome. If there plan was to use PS+ as a Trojan horse into charging for multiplayer, it was brilliant.

It's not logical that PS+ will lose quality imo. The more popular the PS4 gets, and the more games there are on it (right now over 500 different development studios working on it), the more likely it is free games will be on there. Also, textures more revenue Sony make from it the better the content (see Euro PS+ vs US PS+). At the end of the day, if the market is crowded, some revenue via PS+ downloads is better to a developer than getting lost in the mix, selling hardly anything and getting even less revenue, namely for indies. At least they get some coverage and sales as a result.

My guess? PS+ on PS4 will be even better than it has been on the PS3. Resogun and DriveClub day one is certainly positive.

Please let that thing just be a sticker.

Companies will intentionally make their boxes look ugly next gen to encourage more people to buy digital

It's not Resogun AND driveclub. U.S. gets Driveclub and Europe gets Resogun. I don't think anybody gets both.

Europeans get both free. I believe US customers only get DriveClub, but I could be wrong.

EDIT: I can't actually find anything saying Resogun won't be free to US customers, so maybe all regions get both free?

lol.

7 whole days.

I don't get it; The best that has ever been offered is a free "weekend" on Xbox Live; In conjunction with the free 2 weeks in the box, buying this nearly bumps you up to a full month. (7 days short) Hopefully a second game gets 7 more days (watchdog?) then we can have a full month when you pick up the console and a couple games.

On day one, PS+ will kick ass on the PS4. Sony has to prove it's worth a damn to millions of people that have never paid to play online before. I have no doubt they will keep the goods coming on PS+ for the first few years.

However, if it is a bona fide success and people prove that they are willing to pay to play online, I really believe Sony will slack on their initiative. I think they'll start gravitating towards more indie games (and old games). OR they will introduce a tiered pricing structure, charging people more for PS+ with free games.

So I get a week from Killzone, and two with my PS4? Sounds good, I will probably burn through my desire to play Killzone multi in that time.

PS+ is the perfect way for indie devs to get their game out there and get some revenue in. Without PS+ many devs risk their games simply getting lost in the mix, barely even getting noticed. As I said in my post, that's why I don't believe PS+ will decline. In fact I think the more popular the console gets, and the bigger it's games catalogue, the more free and discounted content there will be on PS+.

Oh that would be sweet if true. I read an article a few weeks ago that said Reso was free for EU and I searched but didn't see anything about it being free in America as part of PS+

This game is just hitting all the right notes for me, more specifically the free map packs and such..

Got a damn good feeling about this one.

Well the devs never said anything about it being free only to Europe, despite several talks etc, so I assume it's free to everyone, else they'd have said otherwise.

I'm sure it will help indie devs. I am not sure its value will stay the same for consumers. At least not the way they're running it now.

Thread on PS+ generates 90% posts about ruined cover art. I love you guys, dearly.

Sony should sell copies with and without the PS+ ad literally baked into the cover, but only the disgracefully marred artwork copies contain the free trial code.

This would be purely for amusement purposes.

Every online game should come with a trial. I'm not going to buy ps+ or live just to try online games. But if they at least let me try it i could be persuaded to subscribe for a while. Last gen i didn't like any console online games, except for one, Metal Gear Online. And if they charged for online last gen i would have never got to play that great game. I would have felt pretty dumb subscribing to an online service for the whole life of a console to not like the online games and play one for a few months.

But after i read my words, they are BS i'm never going to pay to play online, but i still think trials could persuade others to.

Theu are usually a sticker on the shrink rap, not actually printed on the box art, I wouldn't worry.

BTW, about the PS+ trial codes.
I don't know how works in US, but here in EU there are Sony games that comes with 30 days of PS+... but this codes only works for new registers, if you are currently a PS+ member you can't redeem the code for extend the membership, and also if you were in the past, i think.

It's going to be intersting to see what PS+ adoption rates are when ps4 comes out. I feel like it might be a failure.
Somehow I think online gameing plus free games and automatic cloud save uploads are going to be a bigger draw than XBLG with online gaming and...well yeah, that's it.

Reversible covers should come standard on award/logo spammed box arts.

I think all Sony games this have had artwork on the inside of their game cases. Not necessarily measured out to fit the front and back slots of the BD case, but nonetheless the option is there to turn it around. Hopefully they continue that next gen.

are PS4 game boxes transparent or are they blue?
i really loved opening the case and looking at the art inside, and some of them tried to do something to fit with the ring where your disc goes.

every sony 1st party game does this, and a few 3rd party games too like bioshock 1, ff13, and child of eden. can't think of others but i know there are more.

the funny thing is the inside cover art thing was standard on PS1. can't think of a single game that didn't have some illustration on the spot where the disc went, unless it was that black part of a double jewel case. i just opened rayman (1997) and right there where the disc goes is a picture of rayman. most ps3 games out there are just blank on the other side of the cover. a shame, really.

That would make no sense for these codes. Every PS4 comes with a PS+ trial. If these codes won't work for people who've ever had PS+, then they essentially won't work for anyone.

Yeah, my copy of Soul Sacrifice came with a code but it's useless to me as I'm already subscribed.
