Yeah, and Alabaster was Snoop Dog :D White scrawny pimp from Oklahoma. Also Matthew McConaughey made great work as self-proclaimed genius Rad Thibodeaux.

RAD: I can tell you're a very sensitive young woman, and sensitive people, they do have a hard time in our society today. I should know. As a self-proclaimed genius, I myself, Rad Thibodeaux, am often misunderstood.

LUANNE: Self-proclaimed genius?

RAD: Yes.

LUANNE: You poor thing!

Also Meryl Streep was Esme Dauterive and Reeswitherspoon was Debbie. They really had some big names as guest stars but most of the times they played characters rather then themselfs so many people didn't notice the guest stars.

King of the Hill may not have had as many guest stars as the Simpsons, but IMO they were far better. Aside from the occasional country singer, the vast majority of guest stars on King of the Hill went on the show to stretch their voice talent not to promote their celebrity. They played characters and not themselves.

The Simpsons used to do this early on in the classic era. But pretty soon it just became about promoting lifeless celebrities who had zero voice talent.

KotH probably had the deepest and most robust characters out of any animated show. It was one of the few cartoons that managed to use subtle character-driven jokes and storylines instead of relying upon slapstick one-liners. It was such a great show.

On the subject of guest stars...

Burt Reynolds was Thatherton (First appearance)

Yeah, Kind other Hill seemed to have just as many guest stars as the Simpsons at the time, they just didn't seem to exploit them as much.

"We've got Brad Pitt, lets have him ply a hillbilly that sounds nothing like him!"

Bobby: You go to the learning center? You must be crazy good at math.
Jordan: Yeah, I'm in trig. Hey what about you?
Bobby: My math is just called ‘math'.

The competitive eating episode was on the other night. Dale delivered what I felt was a very poignant line to Bill about his talent. It was something along the lines of "Just because you have their attention doesn't mean you have their respect." That's something that's going to stay with me for a while.

Two of my friends never got into KotH, but we have extremely similar tastes in shows and comedies. I need two episodes that will hook them. Any recommendations?

-To Kill a Ladybird
-Bobby Goes Nuts

I was a fan of King of the Hill despite how much I hated Bobby and Peggy. Lucky on the other hand turned me off the show. Once he became a regular I stopped watching. Still a great show and so much better than anything else Fox has put out in years.

I've been rewatching the earlier seasons on Netflix, and they're just as great as the later seasons. One of my favorite moments from the episode "And They Call It Bobby Love".

"Well, he stopped crying. That's a step in the right direction."

"And the boy's taste in music is getting better too!"

Reminds me of that one where Luanne moves out and Hank stands in her emptied old room, sits in a chair backwards, hit's a boombox which plays Hello Walls.

How does one hate Bobby Hill?

Hate Bobby? How can you hate Bobby? The only characters on the show that were unlikable were Peggy and Lucky, everyone else was pure glory.

Lucky may be a character that you really had to grow up in Texas to appreciate.

The episode where he refused to go to the hospital and lubed himself up to escape Hank had me in stitches.

My family REFUSED to go to the hospital unless bones were broken.

King of the Hill gave a nod to a restaurant (Catfish Plantation) in the town I grew up in.

I couldn't find a picture of it, but here's a picture of a picture of it.

I love the episode where Bobby takes a women's self-defense class and starts kicking everyone in the balls.

"I don't know you." "Gimme back my purse!"...lol
