I haven't been keeping up with this one well, despite the fact that I'll finally get a 3DS for it.
Is there word on NA release yet? :/
It exists and will be out in 2012. There's nothing more specific yet.

A HD collection, if there ever even is one, would probably have Kingdom Hearts I, Re: Chain of Memories and II (hopefully the Final Mix versions of I & II). Birth By Sleep would probably get a separate HD Remaster. With all those cameos, this seems like the MGS4 of Kingdom Hearts. If there is an HD collection, its gotta be 1,2, and BBS!I love MGS4.
Yeah, I guess that's true, for traversing it'd be a fine addition. KH2 seriously reduced the platforming, and BbS followed on from that, making the need for a 'richer' camera control somewhat muted. I think the simplified camera in BbS along with the almost non-existent platforming was the ideal balance, personally. I never had any issues with it, and I did with 2, despite it's improvement over 1. I've not played it, but I suspect Coded would be nightmarish in that regard. But controlling the camera in, say, Kingdom Hearts II is so much better than it is in the first game and really makes a lot of situations more... stress-free. You're not using the face buttons all the time, sometimes you might just be running around and having more/better control over the camera is only a good thing. When you actually need the face buttons (in battles, mostly), you can use lock on. After you've gotten rid of all the enemies nearby, you can run around while adjusting the camera to see if there are more enemies somewhere in the room/environment. Not a huge improvement, but still one that at least I find nice.
With all this talk of HD and how to present the series in HD, has anyone tried plugging KH1 and KH2 into an emulator and jacking all the settings up? I recall that people did that with FFX to show what the up-port might look like.

So yeah, this needs to happen.
Would not object to more eyegasm screenshots either.
Release Date: 01/07/2012

Holy shit, that would be one hell of a Summer. Three months localisation time would be a new record for KH games, considering the year and half wait we had for KHII (felt like a decade).
Would also heal my bitter dissapointment that Animal Crossing wasn't a Summer title.
The faces for the PotC models were so awesome.
Uh, it took nine months for KHII to come out to the UK after the Japanese release.Holy shit, that would be one hell of a Summer. Three months localisation time would be a new record for KH games, considering the year and half wait we had for KHII (felt like a decade).

Man, some of those shots look nice. Is it me or does KH3D seem to retain a more simple art style like in BBS? Don't get me wrong, 3D looks good, but in my mind KH1-2 had a more complex look.
I think it's just the screen size/resolution. You want things to be a little simpler to pop more on a smaller screen. The little details get lost at that size.
It took about three and a half years to make KH2 with over 160 staff, excluding outside contractors and Visual Works staff.
It took over two and a half years to make BbS with a little over 100 staff, excluding outside contractors and Visual Works staff.
It took a little under 2 years to make KH3D, with presumably mostly the same staff who worked on BbS.
