Kingdom Hearts 3D New Screenshots

I think this is new. Watermark though.

Yes, because they specifically said all-new worlds.
Except for the obvious Tron sighting. & that the musketeer world is probably a past version of Disney Castle.

Disney worlds are supposed to be all-new though. Only world that they brought back in BBS was Olympus Coliseum too, so there's no reason to expect them to lie now.
& Mysterious Tower, Neverland & Disney Castle/Town. Different areas of worlds=/=new worlds.

Anyway I'm still concerned they haven't confirmed a single Disney party member or boss yet. Some implying but nothing official.

He wasn't even a boss in his own game. Plus we know it's that gorilla dream eater thing.

He could show up as some sorta boss though. Guest characters have always appeared as characters to battle in some form. The Olympus Coliseum fights for example in KH/KH2 let you fight Leon, Yuffie, Squall, and Tifa. Leon and Squall appearing as bosses in KH1 and Seifer, Setzer, and Vivi as bosses in KH2. Zack appeared as a boss in Birth by Sleep and you could battle him in the Mirage Arena.

I doubt we'll see any party members due to those dream monsters at your side :/. I'm sure we'll see some as bosses though. I believe the trailer showed Sora battling Rinzler in the Tron Legacy world.

Why not? This is the first time we had a "real" Neverland Island, and Disney Town didn't even let you go to the castle, plus it was much larger than the castle ever was.

I'll give you Mysterious Tower, but that was just a great missed opportunity where they could have given it a whole new interior.

Let me see if I can sum up the main story relatively quickly.

KH BbS:
Keyblade users Aqua, Ven, and Terra take the Mark of Mastery exam to become Keyblade Masters. Respected Keyblade Master Xenahort, apprentice of Ansem the Wise, betrays the good guys, steals Terra's body, freezes Ven, but is defeated in a final battle with Aqua who becomes the only one of the three to achieve the rank of Master. Aqua sacrifices herself and falls into the world of darkness to save Terra's possessed body, which loses its heart. When you lose your heart you split into a Heartless and Nobody. The resulting Heartless takes on the name Ansem, and the Nobody takes on the name Xemnas.

KH1:
Heartless plunge worlds into darkness and Ansem, now in an aged Terra's body, tries to take over the multiverse. He is defeated by Sora, who briefly transforms into a Heartless before being restored.

KH CoM:
Sora meets Organization XIII, the Nobodies of Xenahort's original accomplices. He also meets Namine, who is a special Nobody spawned from Kairi. He is put into sleep so that he can become whole.

KH 358/2:
Some Organization XIII garbage which doesn't really matter. Lots of emphasis on Roxas, the Nobody of Sora which spawned when he became a Heartless in KH1. He is defeated in a battle with Riku, who now looks like Ansem after taking some of Ansem's power when Ansem tried to possess him. Riku kidnaps Roxas to put him back together with Sora to complete his friend.

KH2:
The original Ansem who was betrayed by Xenahort, having taken on the title DiZ, recruits Riku's help in getting revenge on his old apprentice. He recombines Roxas into Sora, who goes on to fight Organization XIII and the Nobodies. Namine is recombined into Kairi, Riku purges the darkness inside him and reverts back to his usual appearance, and Xemnas is defeated. The original Ansem falls into the world of darkness and runs into Master Aqua, who has been wandering there since BbS.

KH Coded:
As far as I can tell this game didn't really matter, just the epilogue which revealed that when somebody's Heartless and Nobody are both destroyed, the original individual is revived. With both Ansem and Xemnas gone, Master Xenahort has resurrected, foreshadowing the ultimate conflict in KH3.

KH 3D:
In order to counter the threat of Xenahort, Mickey and Yen Sid summon Sora and Riku so that they can take the Mark of Mastery exam like Aqua before them. As part of this exam, they must plunge into sleep to rescue worlds that have been lost in dreams.

Holy shit dude. Nice summaries, for real. Thanks.

Ahahaha, best thing I've ever seen <3

EDIT: Seeing that all written down makes me wonder why the fuck I play these games for the story. Even after reading what is a pretty straight forward account of the events that have gone down, the story still seems like it makes very little sense.

I can't tell if this makes me feel more or less inclined to play BBS.

Haven't played a Kingdom Hearts game in a while but TWEWY characters make this a day one and I'm sort of curious now about the more recent titles. BBS is supposed to be the best, right?

TWEWY is a good game...but BBS is better. AND just happens to be a KH title as well ^^

YMMV and all that, but it's definitely the most competent battle system KH has seen and most fun I've had with the series. Plus the final mix is region free and has a translation patch out if you have a CFW-capable PSP.

Again, with all-new worlds they probably mostly meant no recycling of old content, like all the non-numbered iterations have done apart from BBS. And even then, Tron Legacy, Hunchback & the Three Musketeers haven't been used before (and only a very limited portion of Pinocchio was used in KH1, so that's semi-new), so from the worlds we know so far, that's a pretty good percentage of new worlds, even if you count Pinocchio as a not at all new one.

That google doc kind of oversimplifies it. Not saying the story is good, but it kind of sounds even more ridiculous than it really is when described in such a manner. The dialogue can be attrociously bad, but I still kind of like certain moments & aspects of the story (like Roxas returning to Sora, Sora sacrifying himself to free Kairi's heart, the finales in most of the games have been quite epic). You can argue it's shit (and be right), but it can still be shit with its entertaining/decent moments. + some of the Disney stuff is done quite well (except Sora, Donald, Goofy!).

Still the same "world", just different parts of it. You can even see Skull Island in 358/2 Days.

The definition of "new" is rather loose IMO.

Neverland in Days was a series of large circular maps that you just flew around in with little to no design or thought in them. No platforming or exploration of those landmarks. BBS fixed that and turned it into a real world. By that logic we could say that KH2 featured Disney Castle twice because Timeless River was just the castle in the past. Or that it was reused because the assets were in KH1 and you saw it a few times in cutscenes.

I saw the NA version seems to go on sale off and on, so that was pretty tempting. Almost picked it up based on how improved everyone says combat is during Amazon's PSP sales but I got Trails in the Sky instead. (Hard to regret that decision thus far.) Are the changes to Final Mix this time worth it? Didn't seem like all that much was added.

Not terribly much was added this time, no. The final boss added in the localized version is balanced better, and there's a few new arena fights that are pretty fun and challenging, but not a dealbreaker. Plus a few new toys that let you assume a few enemies' forms. Either version is good to jump into.

edit: There is an extra command style and a new world/chapter with a new boss fight that I forgot about, if those affect you at all.

The most notable additions were three new bosses (None of which have any bearing on the story or anything), an extended playable version of the game's ending (which is kind of underwhelming, to be honest), and some some side mini-games you can play in each world. You'd probably be better off sticking with the NA version, as most of the substantial additions for japanese players were already in the NA/EU release.

So the eventual Kingdom Hearts 3 is going to have a huge cast of basically every single character the game has since introduced (minus some Organization XIII characters). I can see why people want the conclusion of this story so badly now.

come onnnnn HD remasters of all KH games Square!

The implication of the bonus movie in Re:coded seems to be that we're going to go on a Heartless hunt for the members of Organization XIII to save them too, at some point. Or Xehanort will do it so he has a small army of keyblade bearers when we go back to the keyblade graveyard in KH3 for the final battles. Either way, nobody ever dies so we'll see them all again.

and i just want axel to come out to roxas already damnit

Really? To me it makes sense just fine. Especially since I've played all of the games except Re:Coded.

It's the kind of thing you aren't meant to digest in one sitting, either. It's spread out over several games and years.

They also intentionally make it sound more convoluted by just using "this guy" and reiterating "he's not this guy" over and over.

In reality though it's a pretty good summary of the story. Shows how it's all about Xehanort.

I'm right here, you know. It also doesn't make it any less convoluted, because I still left out a lot of key details unimportant to the story thus far. I just wrote it for people who wanted the basic idea for going into 3D since I'm sure in the ten years the series has been around, people might've missed some of the bigger plot points in the spinoffs and BBS.

You made that doc? Good job! I think it's done well. Its informative and a bit humorous.

Well you did a great job on the doc (including the humorous reiterations). Seeing it all come together like that actually makes me feel quite nostalgiac. Truly is the "Xehanort Saga" and it's weird seeing it all come together like that since my first romp through KH1 back in 2003 with the story about a kid and an adventure with a girl to save, a friend to find, and a bad guy to defeat. I actually like the KH story.

Also, Xehanort airship was epic.
