There's a lot of pre-rendered stuff in FFX, which is probably what's taking up so much dev time. That and square incompetence.
Kingdom Hearts doesn't have any, afaik, so it's probably a much easier game to HDify. So expect it in 3 years instead of 7.

If they use the right stick for camera control it will free up L2 and R2 for that kind of stuff.
Of course it will, crazy. The Kingdom Hearts games sell really well in North America.
HD port: Think of the many HD collections that have released over the last couple of years, for example, God of War, Metal Gear Solid, Ico & Shadow, and the upcoming ZoE collection, etc. It's simply the old game running at a higher resolution.
HD remaster: Hm, actually, I have no idea which games have been remastered, ha.
Remake: Resident Evil on ps1 > Resident Evil on Gamecube. Completely redone.

Resident Evil is a straight up remake, not a remaster.
I think an HD port and HD Remaster are basically the same thing. I distinctly remember things like the GoW collection saying "Remastered in HD!"
What you described for Resident Evil was a completely remake.

They're not adding those though. They're taking what was the context sensitive 4th command in the original game and putting it on Triangle.

4th command->triangle is a delightful change. Now let us have 4 spell shortcuts, items on shortcuts and right analog camera and I'm content. Actually you could go for 8 shortcuts if L2 is freed and party control on R2.

I don't know why, its not like Square has never done it before as FFX International got released in Europe. If a game they are making/porting already has content, they wouldn't go through the trouble of removing things.

I played through the entire thing including the damn Sephiroth fight for SoF and I had no damn idea about this.
Granted I never used the right stick for short cuts (or the camera in 2 for that matter) because I hate taking my thumb off of the attack and jump buttons.

It looks so good. Kingdom Hearts' style is perfect for HD upgrades differently from other games. And the effort put to give new life to 358/2 days is to be appreciated too. Too sad they didn't take the effort to completely remake in HD the full 358/2 days like they did in the past with CoM. Btw, can't wait to play this.
Psh, didn't stop them from giving us the shaft with the FM versions before. And that was during the peak popularity of the franchise.

I believe the release of the same game with minor additions within the same year of the original KH's release and an HD collection which is being released over 10 years since the original game came out are quite a bit different in terms of deciding to release something.

I'd say KH2fm has more new stuff than any other rerelease I have seen. And thats without Re:CoM. Still kinda baffling Re:CoM never was released in europe when the other PS2 titles sold like hotcakes.
Oh well all will be forgiven if this and ''2.5'' makes it over here.

It will be interesting to see how this will fare compared to BBS and DDD. But the numbers really telling if SE fucked up will be KH3 vs KH2 I guess.
