Yeah, they pretty much used the time jump as an excuse to drop certain characters and plots from the last season. This season has been all over the place. Not even sure why Alvey is all of a sudden a complete nutter. :\
If they hadn't completely blown all of my goodwill towards the show the speech and a few other moments would have hit home. Instead I'm just left with animosity towards the final season that robbed me of caring.
