Jack > David. Jack's acting abilities have really shine through and has completely overshadowed David's role and parts.
Sure, I agree. As charactes though, I definitely want David to become king, versus Jack..

Great episode... not as good as the last one, but still good nonetheless. David yelling at the end seemed a little awkward and out-of-character at first. Not sure if it was his acting or how the scene was set up.

hardly. its out of character if you compare it to him in say, 3 episodes ago. but things have changed since then. davids a changed, colder person towards some (like michelle). after everything that hes been through, you dont think he would want to be yelling at that son of a bitch?

Nah, I'd expect him to be angry. Like I said, I wasn't sure if it was his acting or just how they built the scene up that seemed awkward to me. He walked in relatively calm than just starts yelling 2 inches from his face.

Anyways, I just remembered, when did they film this episode? That scene with the reporter throwing his shoe at Silas was oddly coincidental.

I've watched the most recent seven episodes or so since Sunday, and it truly seems like the show has been getting better and better as the season goes on. This last episode was fucking crazy, the firing squad/coup scene was done excellently, as were the scenes with the old King, and it ended perfectly.

Can't fucking wait for the finale, gonna miss this shit so bad.

So i went to my moms the other day and i found out she became a Nielsen household. i was looking through her booklets and found she has been watching Kings. i dont know how valuable the 70 year old bracket is, but im still proud of her. She also loved the last episode :D

So i called her up last night just to bring up Chuck.. turns out, she already watches it and logs it in her book. She told me she loves the show. So i asked her what else she watched and she listed off a bunch of shows but she said something i found funny. She said that the only shows that she might watch but refuses to log for Nielsen are CSI and Law & Order since there are "already too many of them on the air." :lol :lol

I haven't watched since the fifth or so episode. Haven't had time to watch much of anything lately outside of Big Brother. I'll definitely catch up on Hulu before next week.

Wow, they definitely were not planning on making this show a one season affair. That was a fine ending for a season finale, but not for a series finale. Fuck NBC.

I knew this would end up happening. That finale was fucking awesome, but I'm so unsatisfied.

Just because it needs to be said again: FUCK. NBC.

I hope this story gets told in comics or something. I need it.

God I just knew something would happen :(. Hopefully it gets brought back Jericho style or maybe a direct to dvd movie.

All in all, a pretty good season that improved drastically near the end.

I don't see the logic in saying "FUCK NBC" over and over. The show bombed out of the gate, and then did worse the following week. That means that of those that were interested enough to tune in for the premiere didn't like it enough to keep watching.

Perhaps if the show hadn't front loaded the cheese, offered a more appealing opening movie, or had a more charismatic lead actor, it could have survived. But it didn't.

Hopefully we'll get at least a two-hour finale movie at some point, but it's doubtful =(

Costanza, I just ripped through Day Break. I'm not sure if I can handle another heartbreaking cancelled show. Do I push forward with Kings?

Ho-lee shit.

I cringed at the scene where
Silas talked to the thunderstorm
, but he was immediately redeemed when
he went batshit insane at David
. That was one of the most intense scenes that I have ever seen on primetime tv.

You know what would be amazing? If Kings did well enough on DVD to get another 12 episode miniseries. This finale was a great season ending. It really did a great job of making this feel like a complete story arc, a complete act of a bigger story.

I know that it won't happen, but I think a 3-act story structured just like this season would be one the most amazing television series ever. Something like:
Act 1: The season that we got (David's coming of age, corruption of Silas)
Act 2: David in Exile
(ending with David's coronation)
Act 3: David overcoming his first challenges as king
(David unites the countries of the holy land/Kings equivalent, plus juicy David/Bathsheba adultery)

Do it. It's worth the heartbreak.

Fuck. FUCK FUCK FUCK FUCK FUCK.

:(

NBC I will never watch another one of your shows ever again. This includes Day One. Damn you to hell.

That would work really well actually. :D Was a Kings DVD release ever confirmed? Would buy that in an instant

and a GIANT FUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUCK YOU for daring to blame the show.

i am just very, very sad at this point

Ugh, what a crappy series finale..... as a season finale it would have been alright, but IMO these last 2 episodes were just weaker than the 6 preceding it. Its like 2 episodes away from the finale they asked themselves "how can we prolong this in case we get a second season?". All season long it felt like everything was leading up to the end of Silas and the start of a new king (not necessarily David) and it feels like at the last second they changed their mind. Having Silas going from barely surviving an assassination attempt, to being dethroned, to recovering and walking into Shiloh with the help of David and Gath, to attempting to kill David with his bare hands in the span of 2 hours just felt way too rushed. He should have either died after the assassination attempt or they should have left it at Jack's/Cross's ascension with the plotline for season 2 being how David helps Silas regain power only to be backstabbed by him again when he regains it & god tells him he has chosen David to become king. 6/10 as a series finale to a strong first season; 8/10 if it had been the season finale.

Maybe if NBC had kept it in its original Thursday ER slot instead of Sunday against Fox, not given it such a vague ad campaign, & wasn't so trigger happy these last couple of years it wouldn't have bombed so hard.... : /

Actually, it's more like they all along were copying the major points from an existing story in the Bible. This fits the plot quite well. David goes away and fights a guerrilla war against Saul (Silas) who is no longer chosen to be King. It's the way it goes.

Unfortunate it didn't tie up a bit better, but it did pretty much lay out what'll happen next. All you're missing out on is the journey. And you could always read the original story (or the Wikipedia article on it at least) to see how it'd go.

Maybe they can pull a firefly/serenity type thing? I really hope we can get some real closure somehow. Any other format that doesn't involve the actors, such as a comic, doesn't appeal to me as much because the actors are central to my enjoyment of the story.

there is no fanbase for this show. i don't see anyone talking about it outside of GAF.

Well, at least there's a DVD release

http://www.amazon.com/dp/B0024FAD88/?tag=neogaf0e-20

Couldn't find any Blu-Ray release info but, maybe start buying the episodes on iTunes as well? They are in HD :/ Only $35.88 and about 18GBs. Need to click reviews & then "Sort by most recent" to have it show "The New King - Part Two" in the episode list. Probably a bug.

Found the url to that background pic on the iTunes store. Pretty cool

NBC's online shop has some cool Kings T-Shirts though. May order them before they close it down

Such a good show.....sigh.....

Kings will be missed. :(

But people saying that they hate NBC and etc etc and won't ever watch it again better not be serious.

Especially polyh3dron, you better damn well watch Day One damnit. :(

According to some people, NBC changed the description of the episode on their website from series finale to season finale...

DUN DUN DUN.
