Well, didn't stop Square from also making I Am Setsuna.

It existed, not sure why you and some others keep saying that. It's up to SE now if we ever hear of what the original plans were past the years of what was shown in trailers/said in interviews.

We might hear about it, or we might never hear about it. Square isn't obligated to tell us anything regarding that early version. While it might be cool to know more information, that's not going to change anything. There will be no miraculous revelations and sudden shifts in possibilities. That game will remain what it is, an idea that never made it out of the gate, like many, MANY concepts, character designs, scenes and such that, too, share a similar fate.
