Kirby Squeak Squad: out today

My wife's hooked on Squeak Squad, but she hasn't tried Touch! Kirby yet. I've completed both -- there's no comparison, because they're completely different games. Both are essential.

Squeak Squad's multiplayer is fun for about 20 minutes, though. Don't get it for that. Get it for the better-than-Hoshi no Kirby 3 main game.

I am in love with this game! I loved Canvas Curse, and I still maintain that it should be everybody's first DS game because it's so fun and uses the stylus extremely well. However, this is 'real Kirby' to me. I haven't had THIS much fun with a Kirby game since Kirby Superstar. So yeah, bring us games like Canvas Curse in addition to regular Kirby games like this and I will be extremely happy.

So awesome.

damnit, I'd be into this, but I just bought yoshi (which ****ing owns! holy hell, never played the first one, this game is sooo good)

then I was gonna get EBA
then I was gonna get Castlevania
then I was gonna get mario vs DK

damn, I'm morally opposed to backlogs unless they live unpaid for at the store, but this is ridiculous. I've also got to buy a wii ASAP. I think I'll pick it up.

Is their replayability ala Canvas curse (medals?) I got exactly 20 hours of of CC and would be hoping for the same amount of time roughly.

Why? It controlled fantastically. Don't like change?

I said I was in the minority. What, don't you like other people's opinions?

Holy shit, that annoys me.

Well boo-f*cking-hoo. Get over it.

Yes, with any LUCK, WE'LL never see a sequel to a critically acclaimed game that most people loved. Because you're forced to play it. Go play the other 8 Kirby games with the same basic gameplay and be happy.

Not all traditional Kirby games work, as Jiggy37 very rightly said, but those that DO pay off are fantastic (such as The Amazing Mirror and Squeak Squad).

If you must know I am all for change (such as recent touch-screen controlled RPGs or using the stylus for control in Starfox Command), but when I got my hands on Power Paintbrush it just didn't gel with me at all, limiting the overall enjoyment of the adventure.

Phthisis, I know exactly what you mean. Welcome to Minorityville ;)

Beat it. Very short and easy, but fun. The ending levels/boss was a little.. I dunno, abrupt. Kind of a lame last boss, as opposed to the ****ing awesome Canvas Curse endgame.

Still very good, but not better than Super Star or Canvas Curse (the best Kirby game ever btw).

I still have about 15 more chest to get though, so we'll see what opens up I guess.

I can't tell if this is the official thread or not but I got a copy of this as a pre-Christmass gift thing. Really happy with it so far. Love the art and animation (as always with Kirby and what it lacks in challenge (not surprised, again) it makes up for in interaction nuance. I love the Animal Kirby's grapple and claw-rape. I completely cracked up the first time I did it.

I got it for my little sis for Xmas as well.

By which I mean, I got it for myself, but pass it off as a present.
:lol I wish my sis was that giving, she'll be keeping the game to her-self till she's done with it.

Beat it. Was pretty easy. I agree with the bosses. They were kind of disappointing. I didn't have anyone to play the mini-games with so I played it by myself and they were just kind of meh. The main game was fun while it lasted, but I'm not much of a completionist, so I don't think I'll go back and get all the bonuses.

I finished this today and I'm pretty disappointed. I completed it 100% in around four or five hours. Most Kirby games are short, sure, but the real kicker is the disappointing ability combinations. I was expecting something like the N64 game where you could put together any two abilities and get a new one, but instead you're just able to make some elemental swords and wheels or whatever. I think there are only like six total combinations, and they're all pretty generic. If you combine two abilities in your stomach that aren't a "recipe", you just get a random ability.

I also thought it was effortlessly easy, and it was annoying having to keep my stylus in between my fingers while I played so I could select new abilities. My finger wasn't all that accurate. It would just sort of drag the bubbles around a bit. Add in Canvas Curse to the mix and, well.. it's just disappointing.

So yeah, didn't like this one much. Felt like a step back for the series.

Average Kirby Game
Really liked the new
Angel
power.
Liked how some of the powers were fleshed out with more than 1 move.
Didn't like how you couldn't mix powers like in Kirby 64.
Really didn't like how you had to collect the star emblems to access one of the worlds.

Our store has the demo. It leaves me wanting more. As soon as I finish Yoshi, I am going to hunt this down and buy it. From what I've played, it seems really good.

I do miss the mixed powers and animal friends though. The SNES version and the NES original can't be beat.

Also, there's just something about the music. Especially the invincibility music. Kirby invincibility > Mario invincibility IMHO.

Ugh, I should really get more DS games. I bought the DS Mario Kart package as soon as it came out and haven't bought a single game since. I still haven't experienced any of the touchscreen gaming goodness. My money always goes to 360 games instead.

Beat the game this afternoon.

Thoughts:

Awesome in game art. Levels, characters, and backgrounds were all amazing looking.

Bosses were a little disappointing(especially the ending one)

BEST STORY IN A GAME. BY FAR.

Bought this last week when I was in New York (WTF @ slim DS boxes?!!!) and finished it almost completely on the flight back to Germany. Still have some treasures to find.

It's always the same with Kirby games. They are just SO MUCH fun, the music simply rocks everytime, the abilities are amazing. The stages are great, though easy, but I don't care about that. Bosses were good as well. But in the end, after finishcing am game, I always want MORE. Like Kirby Super Star where there was SO much content.

But I don't regret the purchase, really good game.

btw. how good is Magic Mirror compared to this?
