Kirby's DS run was really strong in hindsight.

Nothing tops Canvas Curse (dat MUSIC), and I am enjoying Mass Attack a lot (not finished yet). I did actually enjoy the wii game a lot despite how easy it was. However the spin offs will always be the strongest titles in the series.

Totally. Tilt n Tumble and Canvas Curse are still my faves.

All the enthusiasm for Kirby in this thread makes me super happy, and motivated to play a new Kirby game! I haven't played one since Amazing Mirror - having beaten that and Nightmare in Dreamland, am I missing much of I skip straight to Triple Deluxe? Or are the aforementioned DS games really worth finding first?

I cant speak for Tripple Deluxe but I think people really liked it. Canvas Curse is a must and Return to Dreamland is a pretty fun game (has 4 player co op!).

I've been playing it a lot recently since it was re-released, and I hate how I can't play as Dedede in single player despite him being a fully playable character in multiplayer.

I still need to play Superstar Ultra.. I have never played the original, but i hear this is a remake with added minigames right?

Is the actual main game worth it though by itself, as i likely will only have time for that?

For the most part, Super Star is actually a collection of short Kirby games bundled together. If an argument could be made for a main game, it would probably be Milky Way Wishes since it's the heaviest on plot elements and is the last game you play that has levels (except in Ultra there's at least one more), but that unlocks by playing the earlier stuff.

I don't see the game as too much of a time sink, and Ultra is just an overall improved version of the original. If you're going to bite on Super Star, get Ultra.

What was wrong with Squeak Squad? A guy I work it absolutely hates it because he 100% it in two hours, he says.

Or at least, he returned it the same day he received it because he had already 100%'d it.

it's not that short. it's gotta be about the same length as Dream Land 3 or Crystal Shards. longer than Adventure or Dream Land 2.
Kirby games aren't long.

Rainbow Curse on WiiU may even be better than Canvas Curse. Certainly a bit more challenging, going for all gold medals is probably the toughest Kirby task yet.

It's easily a 2-3 hour campaign.

Beating it actually unlocks a mode where it times how long you take to beat it, so I can say with certainty that it's not as long as my usual playthroughs of DL3 or 64.

Mass Attack was great until late in the game, when the length of the levels, coupled with the lack of mid-level continue points, becomes infuriating.
