Kojima: Fox Engine is "pretty much ready to start making a game"

I don't want to go back that far. I can't see what her exploits during WW2 would add to the story tbh. Aside from her being badass and all.

Personally I want a game that acts a bridge between Peacewalker and Metal Gear Solid. It's really one of the only things that I care about seeing in the story. Maybe reimagining the original Metal Gear games into one game? It would bring things full circle and would be a great way to end it.

What kind of idiot fucking cares about the ~~~~overarching MGS story~~~~ to the extent that it determines which era they want the game to be set in? She's an excellent character, the second world war is an excellent setting, it'd be an excellent opportunity for fantastic co-op gameplay, and (much like Snake Eater) there'd be much less continuity to deal with so the story precisely would *not* be part of the gigantic stupid clusterfuck that is the latter-day MGS mythos.
Could not be any worse than what Rising is now. Anything is better than current Rising.
Well, except for the apparently unplayable and unfun turd-version that KojiPro squeezed out, and also pretty much any Japanese game *not* made by Platinum.

Give the engine to Platinum Games and let them carry on the Metal Gear franchise. Seems like the most logical solution to produce quality games.

Metal Gear Turbo: On Crack Edition you mean.

Metal Gear needs slow pace and 10000 of gimmicks in every room.

Well obviously this idiot (me) :(

Sorry for enjoying the overarching story of my favorite franchise and having a preference to where it should take place.

I just mean that, like, MGS3 had a solid story precisely because it took place earlier and prequels have a lot more responsibility to keeping the storyline coherent enough to make sure that the games taking place after them can still happen. When MGS games take place later on in the timeline (MGS2, MGS4) they have no such responsibility and tend to go completely nuts. I think that a repeat of MGS3 (as in, setting a game a whole generation earlier than any other games in the franchise) would be excellent for atmosphere, gameplay, *and* it'd have a great standalone story to it.

The shit are you talking about? e3 trailer looked awesome, while everything up until it looked like garbage. 60FPS ninja sword chopping helicopters.

This game is going to be worse than Portable Ops, Peace Walker and Guns of the Patriots combined yet it will still win GAF GOTY.

Wake up princess. People caring about things you don't are not idiots. Are you in a phase: "I'm the smartest person in the world. Agree with me"?

I really don't care too much where it takes place because I am sure it will be fun (MGS3 is my fave MG too). Just don't like being called an idiot for having an opinion on this.

Really hoping for a Metal Gear or Metal Gear 2 remake. But knowing Kojima the last 6 or 7 years, it's going to be something about The Boss or Big Boss...

I think MGS4 had a lot of baggage in the form of prior history to wrap up. That's precisely why it went nuts, because it tried to make sense of it.

A prequel or a sequel could both be bogged down in that crap, if the director/writer isn't prescient enough to see it.

So what have they been doing for the last 4 years? Failed attempt with Rising and taking forever to make an engine?
Lame. This better deliver the best graphics eva.

edit: Lol I totally forgot about Peace Walker

Why are people so eager for another Metal Gear? The storyline was wrapped up in the 4th game, any extra games such as Peace Walker and revengeance just seem like filler story wise essentially.

People like Metal Gear games. Why does the story have to tie into the overall MG story? Just because it doesn't tie in doesn't mean it's filler as long as it's good.

I certainly hope an MGS5 would either be a prequel like MGS3 or takes place much later with new characters. That way they can leave most of the baggage of the story behind but still have the same universe / tone.

Do we know *anything* about this "Poject Ogre" thing? Because, there was this screenshot showing a guy and some kind of tank, this is just for the technology then?

Yeah we have no screenshots or anything of it.

Only thing I think has been mentioned about it is that its open world or something.
