Kong PS2 and Xbox: Down to $30?

Yeah, $30 everywhere it seems...looks like it was indeed a universal price drop


$30 at Target and Best Buy and Fry's...


I guess it bombed, but not BG&E bombed

Did it really bomb? Here it's just been out since the 14th. I'm curious.

Only if you don't play it on an HDTV though. And this is the HD era, which means everybody has an HDTV by now. Didn't you get the memo?
 
Is the 360 version also discounted ? I've already finished the game on the XBOX, but I want to try it on the 360 with the so called hi-res textures and darkness.
 
Just a word of advice: do NOT pick up the PSP version. It's underwhelming, to say the least. Not as bad as the DS version I guess, but definitely a disappointment.
And it's not a port of the console version, contrary to what some of the initial screens led me to believe (although I'm beginning to think those screens were fake).

Rock on. My flight back to America is on Wednesday, it's good to know an HDTV will be awaiting me upon return.

EDIT: Shit. Just realized my dad has a 50" Sony Grand Wega LCD. If only I had an HDTV of my own.

Yup. And you want a GeForce 7 or Radeon x1800. "Any day now" FiringSquad will have my review of King Kong for the Xbox 360 where I compare the graphics against the normal PC version which is like the normal Xbox version.

JackFrost2012 is absolutely right about the funny faces, but the rest of the game looks so much better and so much more cinematic, that it's still worth it. You really need to play the game in surround sound though.
 
I thought this game was pathetic. It deserves to bomb.

How many times can you do the "light a spear on fire" puzzle?

The camera when Kong was swinging was pretty cool. Everything else was a disaster.

Ancel, go back to making good games, please.
 
If this drops on 360, I'll pick this up for the 1000 achievement points. Thankfully, I can play the better-lit version.

I feel bad for Ancel too though. :(
 
I can't understand why anyone finds the King Kong part of the game any fun. At least with the spear/fire thing, you've got some simple puzzle solving and the "I have to surive" mode on. When you play as King Kong, it's nothing but a stupid button masher. Keep punching the dinos until you can grab them and then hit the A and B button as fast as you can.

The playing the game in the dark in surround sound makes a big difference though. Playing the PC demo is nowhere as fun. The "distract the V-Rex" level in the demo isn't representative of the game either
 
It's instore too, I think. Someone at CAG got it for $20 by pricematching it at Best Buy and using some $10 off coupon...although that's supposedly "YMMV" (using coupon + price match)



Actually, you may be able to use the Best Buy coupon at Circuit City (apparantly they accept competitor's coupons)
 
Just like to correct everyone in this thread.

This is a gamestop/eb games price drop only.. it will be back to 49.99 after christmas.. ubisoft signed a deal with gamestop to have the price down 20 dollars..

So no not bomba.. yet..



EDIT: Nm its 29.99 elsewhere.. interesting.. well its going back up at gstop/ebgames after 12/25

The New York level is especially bad, imo. It's borderline unplayable.

I have no idea why the critics were so kind to this game.

The problem, imo, with the guy levels is that the same two or three puzzles are repeated forever. The survival aspect of the game doesn't come through for me. The Halo-style rechargeable life meter pretty much destroys that.

There were about 2-3 good levels in the game. The rest was repetitive dreck.

Agreed, except that the New York level really wasn't a level. It one of 30-40.

True, the puzzles are always about bringing fire from one place to another or using food to distract some of the predators. On the other hand, PGR3 is just racing cars over and over, Halo 2 is just about running-and-gunning, and even Ico had the same basic puzzle with iterations. Geometry Wars is just shooting block after block after block.

It's not a Shigeru Miyamoto genre-breaking game, but it's a fun game as long as you get into the mood. Maybe you're just too jaded of a gamer.

For one thing, I know that alot of people, myself included, are seeing it during the holiday break, so I'm guessing it'll get a boost during the break.

Yea, most people at my job are waiting for christmas break to see it (next week).

I saw it already, thought it was pretty damn good. Kong himself is dope.
