Kong PS2 and Xbox: Down to $30?

People really should buy this game at this price, it is a steal at $30.

It is the best example to date (along with Chronicles of Riddick) of how effectively you can blend cinematic storytelling with a good action game, with the two elements complimenting and reinforcing each other ... and without resorting to endless cutscenes interruptions to drive the narrative.

Yeah, but if you have an Xbox 360, you really need to get the 360 version. This is one game where graphics affect the gameplay experience.

Release date: 11/21 = 6 days of sales. The movie better help it, cause it did horribly.

That was Guillemot.

where I compare the PC (which looks like the Xbox) and the Xbox 360 version. It's definitely darker, but what killed them was that it was doubly dark. They messed up in the color calibration (so it's dark) but the Xbox 360 also uses very dramatic lighting.

As someone pointed out the other day, a lot of it depends on the type of TV you are using. I would imagine it would be quite dark if you were playing on an RPTV. On an LCD, plasma or HD CRT display, it should not be an issue. I wasn't keen on the textures in some of the cave areas, but lighting/darkness was never an issue on my LCD TVs -- the game looks wonderfully atmospheric.

Yeah, I used an LCD-RPTV and VGA CRT it both looked great. It might be a tad too dark, but it's the atmospheric lighting that makes it "darker."

So the Xbox version is the best of the three current gens? Cause I'm picking it up tomorrow along with PoP:TT for Cube. I would prefer to the Cube one b/c of the controller, but if the XB version shits all over it in the visual/audio department then I'm going in that direction.

Yes, Xbox version is superior (for both games you're buying)

The movie is fanfreakin'tastic!! Go see it bitches!! Now I really feel like getting the game.
I think that's one of the problems. The game's release didn't coincide with that of the movie so that might've hurt sales. I didn't care and bought the game but when I tried to recommend it to others they didn't want to buy/play it because they wanted to see the movie first. Oh well.

yeah, the game's story is *different* from the movie storyline. Think of them as both remakes of the original 1933 film.

i'm sure kong will sell better now the movie is out (and these price-cuts), but imo it doesn't deserve to.

i really disliked the game. i found it tedious and boring, and the pacing was poor.

for some reason critics seem to cut ubisoft a load of slack, but i've never rated their games particularly highly.
