As somebody who really likes Peter Jackson's King Kong and the Kong mythos in general, I find this version of the film particularly unappealing. I think I'm just starting to reach the point where I've seen enough takes on the discovering Kong story (the original, 79, Jackson) that I don't have the capacity to enjoy another one.

But Kong as a "fun" movie... I don't know. It feels weird for a story about imperialism to be taken so lightly. It feels at odds with the message.

He's still a juvenile in this one, which takes place 40 years before Godzilla's reemergence. He'll be big enough.

And judging by the trailer, Kong is already stepping his tree game up. I half expected him to choke the skull crawler with it.

looks pretty fun, its nice seeing Toby Kebbell in a non-mocapped role for once. "Is that a monkey" is line of the movie its looking like.

this will hopefully be fun. it's kinda weird how we're more than 10 years later and visually this King Kong does not look as impressive as it did when WETA hit it up in Jackson's movie tho. the fur on peter jackson king kong was crazy lifelike.

i can't wait til he puts godzilla in a chokehold. there's some opportunity for some hilarious shit in Godzilla vs. Kong considering the ape's more human motor functions.

March is surprisingly great this year. For me, it's Logan, Kong, Trainspotting 2, Beauty and the Beast, Power Rangers (for old time's sake), and Ghost in the Shell. Pretty awesome month. Then, only a couple of days later...

Not sure if I should take my kids to go see it. It's a pretty tough call. It will either result in a cool ass movie that my kids will cherish have seen it it the theaters or possible a never ending stream of nightmares. Parenting is hard sometimes.

John C Reilly can't look like the worst thing in any movie because he's always the best thing.

I like this comedy, dumb action flick approach. Fits a Kong movie perfectly, especially if it'll fight Godzilla in the sequel.
