Kotaku: Mario x Rabbids RPG (Switch) is real, uses Snowdrop (Division/South P) engine

Which Mario character's exclusion is the most tragic?

I'm hoping Nintendo have given a big helping hand to ubisoft with this. You'd think they'd want this game to be as good as possible seeing as it features their main ip.

I just hope it's good :)

I sincerely doubted that something this bizarre was real, but then again I never thought a Mario x Sonic game would happen, and here we are in a reality with a half-dozen or so of those.

We wouldn't want people to lose faith in the concept of a Mario RPG. That'd be a shame.

I'm willing to wait for the reveal with an open mind. I think it COULD be good, rabbids be damned. I have faith in Nintendo even if Ubisoft is developing.

That poll, tho. What IS it about Waluigi that makes us love him so?

It's still a little weird that Nintendo would say yes since Rabbids haven't been relevant for years and there isn't even a Mario x Sonic game.
But I believe it

I'm a huge Rabbids fan so I'm really looking forward to this.

Rabbids dressing up is actually a big part of the franchise.

In TMNT: Smash Up for the Wii there were three playable Rabbits as exclusive characters (as well as Fugitoid) with two of them wearing Ninja Turtle and Splinter Cell costumes.

Sure as hell didn't ask for this but last time Ubisoft delivered some turn-based goodness for early life cycle of a Nintendo handheld it was such a treat (Ghost Recon: Shadow Wars) so I'm definitely interested.

I think you meant to say Rabbids Rumble friend.

I wouldn't he surprised if Nintendo offered this or was very open to this in exchange of Ubisoft guaranteeing them software support for the Switch.

Ubisoft was hugely successful on the Wii and was a big partner in the early years of the Wii U. We all know how that ended.

There's been 6. This isn't a platformer so it's not like the Rabbids are crossing over with the main series. It's like the Olympic games.

IIRC this was originally a 3DS game when first pitched.

Rabbids Rumble had turn-based combat. I wonder if they were going to bring anything from that game over?

I don't think there is a guarantee of anything considering that the Switch has less Ubisoft support than the Wii or Wii U.

They will simply make games if they feel it is a viable platform for them.

I'm guessing this is a way to get Ubisoft onboard development with the Nintendo Switch and ensure they see good sales while porting over their internal engine.

If the rumours are true about BG&E2 that would be a pretty huge commitment for Ubisoft. Now this exclusive game as well, that's not nothing. That's way more than EA has planned apparently. They could also announce the release of the Ezio Collection or something like that in the future.

What I'm saying is I wouldn't be surprised if Nintendo needed to offer Ubisoft a bit more than usually for software support. These companies are close.

Guys....why do I want this game so much?

Like nothing about it should be appealing, but it strangely is.

Sneaking suspicion that Switch is going to have a good first year y'all.

Yeah Just Dance comes out on everything.

A port of Rayman makes perfect sense considering the Nintendo audience and Rayman 2 was a launch game for the last two handhelds.

And Steep is...well Steep.

Nothing seems out of the ordinary considering Ubisoft loves to be at launch with something.

How would the (really) short marketing window affect its potential sales?

probably helps, if anything. the E3 hype will segue right into its release. in this day and age you don't need a lot of time in between the announcement and release. of course that all hinges on whether or not the game looks good.
