Kroko Bongo, a DKC styled runner from FortuneFish (Rare's Stamper brothers)

Searched and could not find a thread.

Game Trailer.

This kinda came out of no where. FortuneFish, the new company by former Rare Ltd. founders, Tim and Chris Stamper, stealth released this game on August 14. (The official twitter and Facebook for FortuneFish still has no mention of the game.)

Been playing at work and its pretty glorious so far, its a rhythm based runner, with great music, and a main character that is basically a purple Kremling. (also, MINECARTS)

Best of all, it appears to be completely free, with zero in app purchases or micro transactions. I only see five levels in the menu, so guessing this is something to be expanded in the future.

Anyway, its only available on iOS at the moment, but they have already hinted at possibly looking at a Switch release through a seperate Twitter account made for the game.

Anyway, you guys should check this out, most fun I've had with a mobile game in awhile, and happy to see the Stamper brothers get back in the game.

Get bought out by Microsoft if old.

Downloaded it, started the first level, a countdown starts, counts to 4, just stops. I hit the respawn button a couple of times, I restarted the app, but it's always the same thing.

The game looks cool! But I'll feel real bad for them if Retro's new game is
freaking
Donkey Kong....
I don't see why they'd care. A short and free auto runner isn't trying to compete with Retro's DK games.

Auto-running DKC sounds like a pretty solid idea - definitely plays into the rhythm action aspect the original game did too.

Strange to see a Kremling as the main protagonist though - it's like a product from a parallel dimension.

Not bad at all! I enjoyed it. The main character isn't that great looking lol but the game is beautiful. The sound is pretty good too. Good mobile gamplay.

Straight up looks like DKC Returns. Still think getting rid of the kremlins was a mistake :( The purple gator looks much better than any new enemy Retro has made over the past two games

I feel in debt with the Stamper brothers because of my childhood as much as with Playtonic games, so let's give them a try with this otherwise promising thing.

This game is a lot of fun but im really bad at it haha
currently struggling on the first minecart stage

Assuming you're talking about the idea of a Rhythm Platformer, you can breathe easy.
HarmoKnight came out back in 2012.
dont forget about 2009s Maestro Jump In Music!

Wait I thought the Stampers were done with video games? If they're back then Playtonic needs to start talking to them about joint ventures. Throw in Dambuster (Free Radical) and we have the old gang back together.

Nah they just made a mobile company a few years back.

Looks cool (and obviously very familiar). I would definitely check out an Android version (or obviously, a Switch port or something like that).

What in the world? I thought these guys were done with video games and moved on with their lives. How old are they?? They're actually making games again. Shit why don't they start up a company and make games for consoles.

Here's hoping they make enough money from that to finance a new, proper platformer in the vein of the classic Donkey Kong Countrys.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but I'm pretty sure Chris Stamper has nothing to do with this. It was only Tim that started up a new company a few years ago. It's still unknown what Chris is up to.

The did start up a company. FortuneFish Ltd. is the name. Not sure how many work there as seem as secretive as Rare used to be. Tim Stamper's son is also one of the founding members.

They had two small mobile puzzle games, prior to this, but both seemed to have disappeared from the app store without explanation. Seems like they are going with a fresh start with this.

Also, if you check out the tweets and replies tab on the games twitter page, its seems pretty clear they are thinking about expanding back into consoles, though not committed to anything yet

Chris is there too. according to this tweet from Tim back in 2015. Though he seems even more private then Tim, so his role there is pretty much unknown.

Oh wow. I might've seen that tweet before and never realized Chris was actually there too. Derp!

Thanks for the response!

That description lol

Mario Run meets Donkey Kong Jungle Beat!! This game is SOLID ACROSS THE BOARD. In terms of gameplay, the visuals are aesthetically pleasing (Kroco reminds me of a mixture between DK, King K. Rool and Banjo), the music composition is obviously a very well done take on that of David Wise and Grant Kirkhope (not sure whether or not either composer had any part in this game, THAT'S how well done the audio is!), the sound effects are reminiscent of the good old Donkey Kong Country days (when the player collects a music note, it makes a similar sound to that which can be found in the DKC games when a banana is collected), it even has CART LEVELS (and they're surprisingly done quite well! Unlike in other games where they tried to replicate those retro cart stages and failed - *cough* Yooka-Laylee *cough*).
