L.A. Noire interest thread

I accidentally downloaded the trailer for this game back when GTA4 videos were crashing servers.

Anyway, I really loved what I saw--the style and mood of the game looks really unique. I'm wondering if anybody else is looking forward to it.... I feel like there's not enough people talking about it.

Maybe because there's not alot on it yet... But still.

Yeah, what happened to this one? I was always interested in this more than GTA IV, even

Isn't Take Two publishing this now? I wonder if this is a good deal for McNamara.

Just an attempt to catch more Gaffers...

L.A. Noire is our attempt to recreate a 1940’s detective thriller as a game. Crime thrillers are a huge genre in both literature and film, so in theory there is a large potential audience.

A detective thriller, as a game, relies on the player being able to tell when a suspect is lying. This requires new technologies that can deliver real performances and human nuance.

I also found a nice fansite covering the game

yeah, and that's all anyone really knows about it so far. it has got the aesthetic down, but there's nothing known about how the game will play.

wouldn't surprise me if it turned out to be one of those games that is too realistic for its own good, to the point where it forgets that it's a game and that been a game means it needs to be fun.

I'm interested, but I'm not really sure what they are looking to deliver yet. The trailer was ambiguous as hell and the fact that they haven't confirmed platforms is odd.

what happened?
gee, maybe people are working on it!

give it time.
GTAIVmania is in full gear right now.
they wouldnt want any L.A info or trailer to go unnoticed because of that.
i bet we'll hear a lot more once the GTA craze calms down.

Anyone know if that trailer is using in-game assets?

Obviously the games animation will not even hold a candle to it, but if those are the graphics ... me likey!!! The style really captures the era they're going for. It's nice to see a stylistic approach that really seems to correspond with the setting.

The teaser trailer they showed was really crappy. I was expecting to see something that would remind me of L.A confidential, and it basically looked like EAs Godfather.

People have forgotten that LA Noire and Team Bondi was originally financed and later dropped by SCEA.

Sony must have had a reason for it, that's what i think. I don't see Sony trowing away a good game.

I just learned that Team Bondi is made up of ex team soho devs, makers of the getaway.

interest == 0;

Brendan McNamara used to be the director of the first Getaway game, he went back to Aussieland and probably took some of the team with him. It's conflicting for me because I do like his story-telling style, but the game design decisions he made were stupidly stubborn.

Indeed like "no HUD" having higher priority than game-play and grasping over a lot more more than time schedule and budget would allow.

When that is said, the Getaway franchise does have potential especially some of the initial ideas but it needs a good director.

Indeed. Deserves it's own thread in my opinion. Threads have been made for less.
There will be a Film Noir version of GTA. The guys making the CG for the trailer are not completely untalented. Thats about all we know and my interest in this game is corresponing to these facts (= wait for the reviews or at least until some more info)

It's a great idea for a setting, but I don't think having the entire game play out in black and white is necessary to provide that "film noir" vibe.

Interesting..
WOW! L.A. Noire=GTA Online in the 30s.

That sounds so freaking awesome! DO WANT!

Like most ppl here, the concept and potential are very interesting to me but there's so little actually known about the game that I'm trying to not get too excited. I've.... I've been hurt before..... :(

Awww, it had so much potential. :( Really liked the idea of what the fighting mechanics could have been.

I wonder why it's registered as L.A. Noir and not under the game's title L.A. Noire.

No idea.. maybe its just to cover their A55es later on..

wow I'm so LttP on this....

GTA online = cash cow
1930's detective noir setting = welcome to server population of 50 :(

Trailer was cool alright, cant wait for this one! So, is this now PS3 exclusive because of all this "we gave GTAIV away for exclusivity for a new game"-thing going around

I'm interested.. but my hype got slamdunked when Sony sold the title.. I have a bad feeling about this game now. :/
